My sister had a similar situation as the person who wrote that long paragraph. She said she knew he was a great guy but she just didn't have feelings for him. So now she lives with a pot head who only makes enough money to get by and has no ambitions at all. My sister has a degree in business management and makes good money but she's ready to get married and wants to have kids before she gets much older I think they've been together like 6 years now. He's not interested and wants to just keep things as they are and she's starting to get concerned she's made a mistake and will have to leave him and find a new relationship. The guy's parents own a construction contracting business that is very successful and and wanted to pass it on to the son and retire soon but again he's not interested. The "great guy but I'm not interested in other than friends" also has a degree and is a state trooper who works lots of overtime and also makes good money finally married someone else and has the life she wanted. Life is complicated.

I agree about V-day being overrated. It’s also all about couples and you may not have a “ romantic partner “. In our house we celebrate Sea Creatures Day, we find fun fish shaped candy, get cute fish toys, have a fish dinner and when the kids were young I took them to the aquarium.
