Thank you for sharing your personal story Sherry, I am very sorry for your loss. I applaud you for turning your pain into a success while keeping your sons memory alive 🥰 Thank you for sharing all this great information. Ive been in the process learning about the candle making process to have a business of my own. My story is a different type of pain. I have chronic back pain and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2020. I had to give up everything I loved to do in life as well my full time job, I became very depressed about my situation. One day my husband said to me why dont you look into a hobby to give purpose to your life. I agreed right away! Since I was bed ridden, I did alot of youtube watching seeking something for me that would promote relaxation. Candle making was the first result that came up as well acrylic painting. The cost of candle making steered me away and the the fact that is appeared to be a very saturated market. But I loved the idea and came up with a business name and wrote a book full of ideas lol. But I decided to learn to paint, which I loved very much and was pretty good at considering I had no prior experience but I had to give it up because I also had shoulder tendonitis and couldnt keep my arm up lol. So then I saw epoxy resin, long story short..I am now an epoxy resin artist. My health is coming along, Ive done a lot of personal growth and meditations. It is amazing when you change your mindset to be positve and grateful, how that affects your health in a positve way. But over time candle making keeps coming up in different ways to me. Ive also learned that life doesnt have coincidences, they happen to make you pay attention for a reason ;) So I finally listened hahah I have started to purchase materials here and there, while learning about it all. Im still on a journey and have the physical part to deal with, my plan is to sell candles as an addon with my resin creations at the farmers markets (I also live in the country) so that Im not overwhelmed but can generate some extra income. Thank you again Sherry for all your generous input because someone like myself really does appreciate it :) Much love, Sheila xoxo

I'm not sure if I should be excited or concerned that I've started down this rabbit hole. For now I'm only looking to try candle making as a hobby. For decades I've enjoyed occasionally turning down the lights, lighting a few candles around the room, and reading or watching TV by candlelight. Recently I've gotten back into reading and have been burning a few candles fairly regularly. Sadly these days my eyes insist on having more light than candles provide, so I have to have a reading lamp beside me for reading, but I can still enjoy the candle ambiance with a few candles around the rest of the darkened room. I enjoy almost everything about well made candles, except their price tags. So I thought maybe I should try making my own candles, and here I am. Actually it's something I thought about trying a few times over the decades. I just received a beginner kit from Candle Science that I'll be trying out tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your story. I'll be exploring more of your videos soon.

@@wilcandles In and around watching some of your other videos, and some non-candle videos, I made six candles today. The beginner kit came with six 8 oz tins, and enough wax and fragrance oil for them. I'm glad the order qualified for a fragrance oil sample. One of the fragrances in the kit was a bit floral for my tastes. I ended up with three velvet vanilla candles and three amber noir candles, and I think I'm hooked. The only problem I had was with the wick stabilizers included in the kit. I ended up pulling the wick sticker loose on the first candle I tried to use one on. I quickly switched to clothes pins. Thanks again for all your videos. I'll be continuing to explore them, and probably looking to order more wax and fragrances before long.

Thank you 🙏 can I ask where you bought your marble candle vessel with the black lid
@wilcandles

You are very welcome and the candle vessels came from CandleScience.com. FYI... the lids are sold separately, but also from Candle Science.

Can you show your candles burn in your next video? I have tested every wick with coconut and soy and get mushrooming. I am wicking properly, but I have not tested the CD wicks yet. thanks

Sure... I will work on a video that includes that. After much testing.... I now use CD wicks.

@@wilcandles we both use the same jar size, I am going to do a test with your c-6, cd14 and using your methods! I'll let you know how the wick burns. keep the great videos coming! so helpful!
@wilcandles
@wilcandles Год назад
@@shawnpettis1922 Try the cd 12 first... make sure you cut the wick down to 1/4" before burning... and burn at least 3 hours on the first burn. I have found that the FO was making a difference when I chose to change the wick to cd 14... and ultimately there is no perfect wick for us... so if I had to choose again... I"m going to stick with cd 12.
