@@Mookaron Ripper Strikes pissed all over his bonfire. His voice just doesn't cut it. It's like having a supermodel body with an ugly face. He is sick as fuck here because the beat is so good but unless he has that perfect combo he sounds bad. Whereas LL sounds good whatever he raps on. LL came out with so much power that the lyrics didn't even matter. He could have been rapping a nursery rhyme, it wouldn't have mattered. I was so bored by Canibus's track, I never even finished listening to the whole track and that's for a battle. It shouldn't be boring in any way, shape, or form. It just sounded like generic shit.

Big L is so overrated. Anyway, Canibus did have some technical flaws, they showed up in tiny spots here and there but they existed. Only Kool G Rap is one I never heard a timing flaw from but I could be short on my memory with that. Rakim also was flawless on his first 3 albums.

The thing about him is there were several lyricists of the same caliber at the time, Big L, Pun, Nas... But with Canibus it was like the waters parted, almost every guest appearance he had, he had like twice the bars, went first or last. No one gave that type of verse length to anyone else. He was a show. Then on mixtapes he was getting long verses over the illest beats and eventually 100 bars plus. It was crazy. A lot of GOAT status is about moments in time, and how you saw others treat them at the time, and this qualifies. Similar to Live at the BBQ w/ Nas, Deep Cover w/ Snoop, Control w/ Kendrick, Life's a Bitch w/ AZ, Money/Power/Respect w DMX, etc. ... but Bis had more of those than anyone for about 2 years

When this dropped it was mind blowing...the shit he was saying was crazy...i was 14, 15 years old...this is bars. People say he didn't get a big enough push...i say he didn't deliver on his first album...I liked it personally..but he didn't know he was supposed to appeal to the masses and the masses don't think on the level he was rapping on...That's why Jay-Z's line " I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars" makes alot of sense if you are a rapper trying to blow up.
