I've invested over the years in a lot of pistols. I'm an enthusiast. It's my hobby. That being said I reluctantly spent $379.00 a couple of years ago on the Canik TP9SA mod 2. Best investment in a new handgun ever. Until this day I'm still amazed that a pistol that good was purchased at a budget price. The Canik Fanatics have alot to "crow" about! I've shot the heck out of the pistol. Brass, aluminum, steel, and "el-cheapo" reloads. 1000 rds without cleaning. What the hell, I got it cheap!! Still shoots like a champ. 5000 rds later . . still chugs along. I'm amazed. I'm buying another. A "no brainer"!!

Also, the first 300 rounds through a canik should be 124gr 9mm ammo to function 100% reliable out of the box, because the recoil spring is made for 124gr NATO spec ammo. Canik will also send you the lighter recoil spring made for 115gr ammo if that's what you're shooting. Anyway, after about 300 rounds of nato-spec ammo you'll be running reliably, as the heavier spring usually breaks-in around this time for using any weight ammo afterwards.
@johnjohnson9980
@johnjohnson9980 2 года назад
Very important you talked about spring force. Many pistols will have.issure related to different spring rates and ammo weight .45 cal example 180 grain to 230. Even bigger spread if hand loaded. And many springs were set to be stiff for first 500/1000 rounds and then relax into the perfect spring force for the.life.of pistol. Well unless you shot a whole lot. Nice
@robl884
@robl884 2 года назад
@@johnjohnson9980 I've ran into a couple ppl at the range who had just bought a brand new canik and they were frustrated by a couple failures. I usually explain this to them as well; after learning about it with the 2 caniks I've had. No worse feeling than being a new owner and feeling like you got a lemon when in reality you didn't. I do think, however, that canik should address this a little more openly and clearly in the box the pistol comes with. A bright yellow flyer that explains it so ppl don't get discouraged who may have little or no experience in the target-sports arena.

I always break in my guns with 124gr NATO White box Winchester. I also rarely shoot 115gr ammo any more. It started with my G26. I was shooting 115gr and I thought I was never going to get through my first two mags. Switched to 124gr NATO and that did the trick.
@robl884
@robl884 2 года назад
@@davids2117 that's odd; I've been carrying a G26 as a summer carry for years. First the Gen3 and now the Gen5. I never had any issues at all out of it as far as ammo; I've run everything through it. Reman's, 115gr, steel, you name it. Now, I DID have failures with Magpul G26 magazines with the Gen 5; but that's a different story and totally magazine-related vs ammo related. The ambidextrous slide releases interferes with the Magpul brand G26 mags and causes the slide to lock-back after every round. 0/10 would not recommend lol but yeah man; that's definitely odd

Another great review. I bought my 1st SFX, 2 1/2 years ago. Got it on a Thursday, shot a match on Saturday & won my division. I now own 8 Caniks . 3 are SFX models & each has over 15,000 rounds. Ive never had any FTF or FTE. (Lucky, I guess ) All total I've put over 55,000 thru my Caniks. My Elite SC just passed the 4000 round mark, again no issues. Quality, Durability, Dependability, Accuracy, for the price, it's hard to find a better gun. I put skateboard tape on my grips. I'm told Talon has grips for the SFX. Keep the videos coming. 👍

Scott 300 should I get this or a 1911?
@scott3009
@scott3009 4 года назад
@@billyharper5925 It will really depend on your intentions as they are very different from each other. The majority of 1911's will be in .45acp compared to 9mm in the Canik. The grip will be different as well as the trigger. The capacity on the 9mm will greater, but the price of the gun in general will be lower. A 1911 in 9mm, commonly referred to as a 2011, in most cases will cost substantially more due to higher quality in almost all aspects. I'm not qualified to recommend to you what is better, I'm just trying to point out some key differences. My best advice would be to try both at a range if that is possible and see if you favor one over the other. Maybe a friend has one or the other and maybe the range in your area offers rentals.
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 3 года назад
Billy Harper I’d say the 1911 is great for the heritage and firepower of the available .45 caliber. They shoot fantastic, but can be a little finicky on occasion. If you mean 2011 vs the Canik, i’d lean towards the Canik since it’s a modern ground up firearm, holds 20 rounds and will be less than half or even 1/3 of the price. The 2011 only if you are a diehard 1911 fan and have the dough...Just my thoughts.

To a large degree this channel has helped me fill out a pretty great pistol collection. Pretty much everything this guy and some other great reviewers say turns out to be exactly what an average dude on the street 2A supporter needs to not guess at what to look at when in the market for a new pistol. With the tidal wave of new pistols constantly coming out I'll never be able to catch up. I've been buying some great pistols to the point where I almost forgot about my TP9 SFx. I took it out the other day and it's way better than I remember, in fact, shoots better than some pretty pricey stuff I have bought last two years. I'm a bad source for a recommendation, I'm just your average dude who grew up with guns everywhere and simply by going out and doing it for fun growing up I'm an adequate marksman. It's really a nice pistol, Canik has definitely had a major impact on the entire market and that is a huge positive for consumers. First Canik I bought was the Mete SFx when my son graduated from high school. I'd never heard of them and at the shop he said he liked it. I was suspicious because it looked way more expensive than the price stated. I bought my first Walther PDP same day for me and I was shocked how affordable it was and even more pleasantly surprised how nice it is to shoot. Now my son's in the Navy and doing a job where it is basically the job description to be in great shape and extremely important to be a very good marksman but until he gets out, I guess the Mete is mine. He's a total Glock guy now as they tend to be. I'll always love Glock, was my first polymer a few decades ago and It's a great company, too, and just keeps doing what it does best. I'm basically done saying Canik is a great company and line of pistols "for the money," because at this point I think they're just pretty great pistols, period. The only pistol I really think I need to get for a few years is the 4" M&P Metal. I've been a huge fan of the pistol/PCC combo for a long time and take a Glock 17 and a Ruger PCC out when I go to the back country going back a few generations on both. I think perhaps the M&P pistol and foldable PCC would be a really nice upgrade to a concept I've loved for a long time.

I bought this gun recently and have shot 150 rounds through it so far, mostly 147gr, with some 124gr. I truly loved it. I bought mine for $500, with case, 2 mags, multiple rear sight mounts for opticals, cleaning kits, and the hardware to interchange things. I prefer the longer barrels for accuracy. Couldn't tell the difference in recoil between the 124gr and 147gr. Trigger was smooth and easy to use. Accurate from 10-25 yd targeting I did at an indoor range. Though I was slightly less accurate at 25 yds because I wasn't wearing my glasses, lol. I did have one jam within my first 100 but not worried about that, since I'm still breaking in the gun. I love how you shout out to the homeless shelter in Ames, Ia. I live in Nevada, Ia and had been homeless years ago, glad you help support good organizations that help those who are homeless. I found one in Des Moines and they were a great benefit to me being where I am today! Anyway, I plan to go shooting with my sons tomorrow and will be shooting a lot more rounds through it again. I do a lot of armed security for high value targets. I need a firearm that is reliable, accurate and will withstand the rigors of daily use. For several years, I have carried the Canik TP9SA with no issues. Semi- annual qualifications had been a breeze with the TP9SA. I couldn't be happier with the Canik TP9SA as an every day "service" weapon. Recently, I acquired a Canik TP9SFX. What an outstanding pistol !! I have one minor "Con". That being the extended magazine release (very minor, really). With the "duty" holster I use, the extended magazine release would be manipulated during normal activities like getting in and out of a vehicle, sitting down, standing up, etc. My magazine would become disengaged and would occasionally fall out. Not good !! The remedy was really quite simple. Canik includes an array of extended magazine release "buttons" (low, medium, high) plus the tool required to change the mag release button. Unfortunately, no matter which extended button I used, the situation was always present. The solution ?? Quite simple, really. Using the tool supplied by Canik, I removed the interchangeable extended mag release button. Underneath, is a textured, low profile mag release button that works perfectly with my "duty" holster. Problem solved. The mag release is still very easy to operate. Every day, I bet my life on my Canik. I have no worries. Also, I forgot to mention that the Canik TP9SA magazines work in the TP9SFX. In fact, I prefer the shorter TP9SA magazines. There is less chance getting the shorter magazine "hung up" on something like a seatbelt, etc.

Although short lived, Palmetto State had this gun for sale at $400 “Daily Deals special “ before the panic buying. I’ve bought a lot of used guns in my life that I thought were the deal of a lifetime. After extensively shooting this gun I’m now convinced that buying it used at a local pawn shop for $360 + tax like NIB set a new standard for my best gun purchase ever. I suspect that there will be a new price range for this particular model when the buying frenzy slows and they become available again. Knowing what I know now I would gladly pay $550-600 for it should I ever need to replace it! My son has one and he’s put an aftermarket mag well, freedomsmith trigger (which actually increased trigger pull weight), the lighter trigger spring kit, so now it has a lighter pull again plus the reduced travel and superior reset, which was hard to improve on! My biggest takeaway from all the mods he did was how inexpensive the upgrades were with the trigger being the most at around $70. Mag well $40. Spring kit $18. New extended mags around $60 for 2. Race gun totally competition ready for less than $700.

I haven’t used the red dot at all and I have not problem getting tight groupings at my local indoor range with the target all the way out. Very nice trigger and who doesn’t like 20 round clips. I’m convinced that You can’t beat this pistol for the price especially considering all the accessories. $500 for the pistol 2 clips/ loader, trigger lock, red dot, several sets of sights and a solid holster and a nice locking case for everything.
