Using up some of the green tomatoes. Ball says this makes a excellent salsa style sauce for grilled chicken if drained and placed in a blender. I thought we would give it a try.
Here is the link for the recipe www.freshpreserving.com/hot-p...

Great tutorial, made my mouth water. I always save seeds from my harvest year after year and plant them the next season.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
Thanks. We don't save a lot of seeds because I like to give Baker Creek some business. This was not one of my favorites, it was very vinegary. Thanks for watching.

This is the first time Ive grown my main crops (tomatoes and peppers) from my own seeds. My plants look awesome and Its the first year I haven’t had blight too. All of my plants are being fed blood and bone meals, fish emulsion, one feed of Dr Earth, weed tea and primarily hand watered for more even water and splashing up onto leaves controlled. Peppers had to be planted in large pots. 2 to a pot.

One trick with peppers is to cut through the top right where the stem meets the pepper. If you get your positioning right, it will come apart in 3 portions. One ring (around the stem), the stem and core with the seeds intact, very little mess, and the pepper itself. It's very neat. :) The garden looks really nice.

I know it is an old video, but I have a tip for you, When cutting a tomato in half, who says that it has to be thru the middle of the stem, turn the tomato 5 or 10dg and cut it in half that way, 2 perfect halves, now one half has all the stem, and one has none at all. Keep up the great work

Hey I wanted to tell you - ethylene gas is what ripens tomatoes - and a ripening banana produces ethylene gas. So put a banana in the brown paper bag with your green tomatoes. Forced ripened won't be as good as garden ripened but better than nothing.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
I will try that in 1 of the bags to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the tip.

I pickle green tomatoes every year they're very common in Mediterranean cuisine. Well anything pickled is pretty much a go in the Mediterranean vegetable wise. Some are good, and some I think mop water would be more palatable.....Good save on the tomatoes.

You never seem to get upset about the bugs. What do you do to control squash bugs?
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
I try to scrape the eggs from the bottom of the leaves early on and don't worry about them as I am usually tired of squash by the time they kill the plants. Always compost the old plants as the heat from composting helps to kill off the bugs that are left. Thanks for watching.
