Canon EF-M Is Dead. Long Live Canon EF-M!

Canon has finally killed off the EOS M camera series and the EF-M lens mount. We knew it was coming thanks to the RF mount. I loved the EF-M mount, but judging from Canon's lack of lens support compared to its competition, Canon didn't feel the same as I did. RIP little buddy.

I have a rebel SL2, an EOS-M and a M6II. I have some EF lenses and a couple EF-M lenses. I have Viltrox adapter and speed booster. I will just keep making pictures with my obsolete gear for as long as I can.

@@Scott_Graham I started with a Rebel XTI . No video, no live view. Then I traded up for the SL2. I still use it with the 24mm ef-s pancake.

I have four M cameras, acquired since the original M I bought back in 2013. All are excellent. I lament Canon's decision. I think it's a mistake, frankly; the line was, as I understand it, very popular in Japan.

i think they will recreate all M cameras in RFs segment unfortunately... BUT eos M is still one of a kind, and this doing nothing with lenses they all are great and legit, only downside its that will be no more new cameras for those lenses.

An interesting platform. Surely the stopgap while people in another building developed RF's lens/body communication and compatibility strategy. Seems they had fallen asleep when the smallest m43 models were making news and instead of having a vision for APS-C, chose to target part of what m43 was doing. And then Panasonic became known as a video camera and Olympus went into more pro still capabilities, with EF-M being neither.

I have M50. Thinking of moving to sony for my next camera because of this. but still love canon picture profile which I can download it from camera then straight to social media without editing required.

Even though I have plenty of “newer” gear, I still enjoy using my m200 with the 22mm or my m50ii with the EFM 32mm / Sigma 56mm / adapted EF/S lenses. 👍

@@Scott_GrahamThat 22mm on a small M camera can’t be beat for a small “pocketable” setup. I love gear, but never want to lug around the BIG stuff.

I've been betamaxed again. I loved my Canon M6 MII but I just traded it in for a used Canon 90D which has similar specs, and is native to the EF Lenses in my collection. I'm sure I could have squeezed a few more years out of the M6 but decided to trade it in while it still had some value in the used market. Even though I miss the portability of the M6, the 90D has far superior battery life and a headphone jack to boot.
