Canon EOS M50 Mark II Tutorial 

I’ve just bought an M50 after four months research and 500 RU-vid videos. That tip to enable touch shutter when using bulb mode was a gem. Top stuff.

Thanks Chris for a great explanatory video. I get my M50 mark II today and I can’t wait to try it out. You highlight the creative potential of TV. My first Canon camera was the AE-1 (35mm film) which had shutter priority only. Had a lot of fun, and took great photos, with that camera.

This was wonderful and enjoyable in so many ways. You covered the material in a clear and concise way. Plus you related the setting to real world use. Thanks for taking the time to share this. I'm going to watch more of your videos now.

While I have had my Canon EOS M50 for months this tutorial finally has me out of the auto mode and feeling confident enough to experiment in different settings but more importantly with a decent enough understanding of how these settings affect my composure, and lighting. Thanks for this video helped me a great deal by watching this and giving me a heads up into aperture and shutter speeds before i start.

Wow, this is just what I needed. I didn't know i needed to format my card. I have been using my camera for a while now but only learnt about monochrome mode from your video. Thank you. What telephoto lens fo you suggest for this camera for wildlife photography. I am passionate about it, but my 55-200mm doesn't seem to get me as close as i would like to. I have a tripod and an EF mount.

Hi Chris. Loved your tutorial. Please give me your opinion on buying for travel/street photograpy: M50 with kit lens or a DSLR T7 with 22mm Canon lens? Cant afford M50´s plus prime lens.

Chris, thank you so much for this terrific instructional video. I like to shoot landscapes in RAW and tend to use AEB set at one stop over and one stop under exposed but when I power the camera OFF to save the battery and then power the camera ON again I have to reset my AEB settings. Is there any way to retain these settings?

I'm a bit more than a beginner, but still, look at your video to get to know this cam. having years of experience with canon I just want to see if there are new things on the menu. Tips for beginners. buy with this cam a screen protector and an extra battery with it. Also, a Yongnuo YN-560 IV is an affordable flash for it. @Chris. I see you also looked at the photoshop topsecret DVD's Those were great to get better in PS. I liked them a lot.

I’m thinking about to buy the Canon M50. I have a Canon Eos 650D but I find that one to heavy to carry with me on hikes. This summer I go for the first time to Canada (I’m from the Netherlands) and I was thinking of just taking pictures with my iPhone 12 mini. But I like to play with shutter times and know that I can’t do that with my iPhone. So can you tell if you think that the Canon M50 the best choice to buy is for me?

Absolutely new in DSLR/ mirrorless camera world.. looking to purchase M50-II. So is it a good choice in 2023, where rumours are that canon is winding up their M series or shall I go for new R100. However, I find RF lenses a bit costly than EF-M mount. please suggest.. thanks!

How do you set this camera to snap multiple pictures of yourself on a tripod without a remote control ?

Depth of field is the area of an image that has "acceptable" sharpness. If you use a large aperture (f.ex f/2.0) a smaller area of the image will have acceptable sharpness (shallow DOF) and if you use a smaller aperture (f.ex f/22) a larger area of the image will have acceptable sharpness (large DOF). At 12:31 in the video it says that there is "no depth of field" but for that lens, at f/22 you actually have maximum DOF because almost all of the image has acceptable sharpness.

I switched from a Canon EOS Rebel T7 to a Canon Eos M50 Mark II can they use the same lenses?

There is a blue magnifying glass on the top right button. How to use this function? How to zoom the image on the monitor so that the focus can be set manually on some detail (say on the eye)?

Just some constructive criticism, all well meant. I had to leave your video about 5:20 into it, as I can't hear your sound. Your audio is too low. Also, in "image quality" you do not explain what L, M and S mean. I assumed L is for "Low" but you said that's the highest quality mode, by default. Again, if this is a full tutorial, it should have all the information, but now I have to search the internet to find out what L, M and S mean. I assume M is "medium" but I guess I was wring about L being "Low" so I have to leave your video and search for the answer. Again, this is all well meant criticism. I hope it helps you improve your videos in the future, as I can see that a lot of work went into them.
