In this video I explore the Canon R7 camera, a crop sensor camera and the kit lens, 18-150mm F3.5-6.3.
Sorry about the length of the video but I wanted to cover as much as I could, not just inside sitting talking about it but outside actually using it taking photos and some video clips.

I find the Canon auto off/on to be one of the best in the industry, just turn it on, set it to 1 minute when you're out shooting, and forget about it. Wakes up instantly when you half press the shutter.

A lot of mirrorless cameras have this feature but they are also slow to start back up again. I didn't get the chance to test that out when I had a loan of the camera but I'm sure it would be snappy to switch back on as it would/should be with the higher priced models from any brand really. Thanks for the comment and subscribing, my friend whose camera this is loves it and has thanked me numerous times for helping him choose this camera. I think it's one of Canons best APSC cameras to date, enjoy your time with the camera and Cheers.

I think it was a mistake (driven by cost cutting) for Canon to re-mount their EF-M lenses for RF mount, most evident in the 18-45, which was originally designed as a 15-45, but due to the deeper RF flange can not be made as wide. This means that there is currently no way to get a proper wide angle view on RF-S without using full frame ultra-wide lenses, which are not practical to buy for use only on APS-C.

I see recently that Canon are blocking 3rd party lens manufacturers from jumping on the RF bandwagon, personally I think it is a huge mistake. You only have to look at Sony and how they opened up their lens mount to everyone and look where they are now, tons of lenses available and looking to take over the camera market. Cheers.

I dislike flip-out screens because they are not in line with the lens, which makes precise compositional adjustments difficult, also they do not tend to work well with L-brackets. Screens that can flip both horizontally and vertically (like the Nikon Z9 or some Fujifilm cameras) are the best for me.

Good to hear viewers opinions and I appreciate your input. Everybody's got their own likes and dislikes and that's great, I've come to like flip out screens mainly for video work, cheers for the comments.

It's just a mini tripod from one of the gimbals I had years ago, like the ones you get with Zhiyun Crane M3 but this one is an alloy material not plastic.
