Shepherd over the river, you are not afraid, sing the baïlèro lèro. I am not afraid, and you sing baïlèro lèro. Shepherd, the field is in flower, bring your flock over here, sing the baïlèro lèro. The grass is finer in the field here, baïlèro lèro. Shepherd, the stream is between us, I cannot cross, sing the baïlèro lèro. Wait, I will get you downstream, baïlèro lèro.

Perfection. Can you imagine being woken up in the morning to hear Marianne Crebassa singing this in the shower, or the Flower Duet. It would seem otherworldly. Seeing this beautiful woman and hearing her amazing voice. I would lose my job as I’d never want to leave that room. She is just poetry that has been given form to walk amongst us, show us her grace and beauty and leave us almost speechless in how to describe her breathtaking voice.

I've loved this song for so many years but have yet to hear it sung more beautifully than this version. Other versions have varied considerably, from the higher range versions, some of them almost Snow White like, to much more demure, almost invisible versions and then the near-charachateur, blustering versions. Marianne Crebassa uses the mezzo range to full advantage here, most notably at around 2:56 minutes, transitioning like a graceful, serene sailing vessel on glassy waters suddenly letting fly with an equally graceful and seemingly effortless full-bore, broadside. Impeccable and absolutely stunning.

She still needs to have a notebook for the song??? A professional singer always remembers the music and words. Singing and practiced for thousand times. Should be well-prepared, particularly the Soloist in the formal concert! it was a shock! She was not in the chorus. OK! Beautiful music but....annoying behavior! Short song ...can't remember the words, it was a joke! Lady, you set your standard too low! 🧐
