In Unique Eats Season 5 seafood episode, the food writers & chefs on the show & even the owner of Anchovies & Olives all called Geoduck as Gooeyduck. The restaurant is in Seattle so maybe the owner called it Gooeyduck like you guys. But the other food writers and chefs might not be from Seattle yet they all called it Gooeyduck too. So I wonder what is the correct way to call it. But I just felt that you two shouldn't be called out or teased on calling it Gooeyduck instead of Geoduck like the rest of the folks on in the group. Thanks for making all these food & cuisines videos. I love them all.

All of those foods were comforting to me because I grew up eating them as a child. I'm Filipino, but we would go out to eat after church every Sunday and we'd go to Cantonese resturants all the time. Watching this video and the food brought back warm, fuzzy feelings. Thanks FungBros.

They should try more steam dishes. Cantonese like their dish taste fresh with its original taste. This is what hoisin means, fresh from the sea. Deep fried spicy dish are usually the tactics to disguise the freezy taste of frozen food. This is not to say deep fried dish are not good, they are delicious, the gist of Cantonese seafood is the freshness
@ccdrknrgy

WHY DA NO BOK CHOY, Wha abouu ma salt and pepper calamari, whi yu no tak abouu da Bai Qie CHICKEN and last and most importan, why no ALLIGATOR. This is to be honest quiet Americanized, maybe also because the shift in time. Panda express is Chinese food for most white food, This video is about Chinese-American food, or the result of Chinese cuisine adopting to society today like most food. You got to make your food standout and appeal a larger audience. WHY DO YOU THINK EVERYTHING IN THIS VIDEO IS DEEP FRIED? Real Cantonese ethnic cuisine can really only be experienced through home cooking ( for me my grandma, mom does alright though) or the Mainland. Nice video though, but I think what you guys should do is fly out to places around Asia to truly experience the food they offer.

You lose all credibility if you are a food blogger and you can't pronounce the name of the food
@lindaelvenia7542
@lindaelvenia7542 7 лет назад
John S okay look, HK speaks its own language. There’s also Canto and Mandarin plus the hundreds of dialects. I speak Mandarin and the Fu Zhou dialect, but I still mispronounce words. A language is not something that’s easily learned. You can study up on a dish or culture without perfecting the language. There are dish names that even Gordon Randy can’t pronounce. There are some dishes that I can pronounce in the three languages I know. I’m sure there are certain words that you struggle with. So, don’t shut down someone if they can’t say it properly.

As a Cantonese person in an immigrant family from HK/Canton, I have never seen so much fried food. We don't eat that much fried food in any restaurant, and the fish we get steamed is sea bass, not flounder. The most fried food we order is one dish. Traditional cooking is a lot healthier. Most of the dishes are usually steamed or quickly stir fried. And the most popular clam dish here in SF is with black bean sauce. I don't know what those LA people are eating. Oh, and Geoduck (or as my family calls them "long-necked clams"), it was served with soy sauce, sugar, and chili... Not wasabi. Again, I don't know what LA people eat there. I only know SF Cantonese food.

Some good points on Cantonese. However, I just like to add there is still sub-categories of Cantonese depending on the area and dialect. In Norcal it is mainly Hong Kong Cantonese and Tainshanese. I am 6th generation Taishan (Toisan) Chinese in US. Taishan Cantonese were some of the first Chinese in US and most worked on the First Transcontinental Railroad in San Joaquin Valley (1863-1869).

@twister411
@twister411 9 лет назад
White fungus can be cooked with foods, in savory soups and even sweet Asian deserts. In the video that's a sweet Asian desert that is like a sweet broth. If you look it up, Chinese believe that this is good for your sink. If you don't cook it very long, it has a crunchy type of texture, if you cook it for a very very long time, it gets a soft gelatinous texture. My kids hate it.
