So Awesome meeting you and the crew Matt your videos are great my daughter lost it with the selfie and says she's coming next time, ( especially if a duffer like me can fish with you guys) shout out to Tony Jason Ryan and Joe it was a pleasure gotta love true ditch culture. Still wondering if that young guy grindin through the rain finally got a hit
Hey hey!! It was a pleasure to meet you as well! I’m so glad we ran into you, always a pleasure to share the rocks with someone as passionate about fishing as yourself. I hope you put those stickers to good use! I’m not sure if that guy ever hooked into a fish but he definitely put the work in that morning…
Looks good Matt, I'd recommend a glider and metal lipped as well. I guess I'll have to get to the ditch for my first trip of the year and throw some swimmers in the dark. Cool video 👍
Definitely can’t go wrong with those in the line up. I had good luck during May was my metal lips but nothing in June… We’ll see how the Hoka Hey metal lip and Larson glider do during July, both are in the rotation! 🎣🐟
Right on bro-thx! Glad to see yr breaking in that reel nicely 👍 You’ll notice I’m actually reply from the correct channel now…@Rob1cool…lol…instead of my older @Roberthood1234 channel.
Hey, I’m trying to go fishing in cape cod canal. Ive been fishing before but I really don’t remember how to set up my rod and reel. I was wondering if I could message you and ask you a couple questions. If not, a quick to the point response would be great too! I currently have a 10 foot tsunami trophy 2 surf rod and a Penn Spinfisher VI reel and a few east end lures that has the weights on them already. My question is, what else do I need? I know I need fishing line but I’m confused on how to set up the mainline and then having a leader line attached and then does the end of the leader line connect to the lure I’m using? Sorry for such a beginner question. I’ve been watching your videos and I’m very interested in fishing at the canal. Thanks for reading!
It sounds like you have the basics and a good foundation. Feel free to message me on Instagram at NightShiftFishing. Id recommend you take the reel spool into a bait shop and ask for backing and line, they’ll set you up with the proper backing and then I’d recommend 50lb Power Pro line to start. The shops close to the Canal (Red Top, Macos and Canal Bait & Tackle) all sell two-packs of pre-made leaders. Grab a few of those. They are usually ~36” of florocarbon line with a barrel swivel at one end to tie to the mainline and a TA clip at the other end to attach to the lures. In addition to the East End jigs I’d recommend you grab a couple of pencil poppers. To get started I’d recommend a couple Wally’s poppers - try white and another in green mackerel. You can get them at Red Top. Again, these are just my recommendations.
