This is one of Tasmania's Cinderella walks so unless you can get away early be prepared to join the hordes complaining about sore knees and many stairs. This walk has garnered plenty of public attention over the years due to its distinctive ridge-line which rises out of the churning sea far below on the spokes of dolerite columns, definitely not pronounced as Dollarmites like I've done in this video (CBA's advertising drove disturbingly deep into my psyche during the 80s).
Respect to Mountain Trails & Walking Track Services who built the Three Capes Walk, I can't attest to the other two Capes but in this section the track is just a work of art. Many a time I found myself wondering what kind of Pharaoh had commanded the granite rock into the wilderness but then watched the Parks Tasmania link in notes below and realised a chopper could essentially serve the same purpose.
This is a 9.4km walk with plenty of up and downs through thousands of steps. The path is solid and sturdy thanks to the aforementioned trail businesses. Without doubt the highlights are viewing seals lounging around on the rocks below the cape, maybe spotting a cheeky whale breaching the surface (I promise I saw a pod of Killer Whales in Fortescue Bay) and admiring the daredevil bravery of those wishing to meddle with death on the totem pole and candlestick. Admittedly this last statement is a little strong for experienced rock climbers but to the untrained observer this is exactly how it looks.
