well done. I thought the exact opposite of what you did. Like all API style pres, the CAPI had more transient pop and top end thwack. In comparison, the TG2 was more Neve-like with more more low end thump, roundness and a little less hi end attack. I would enjoy more if you can. In addition to drums, the other best comparisons for revealing Preamp character, I always find to be acoustic gtrs, acoustic pianos and of course vocals
Thanks! Quick Links to alternating pre's. Capi is first each time (BLUE) 2:06 Alternating LOW input 3:11 Alternating MID input (some saturation) 4:37 Alternating HIGH input (more saturation)
thanks for the video! this is the only one showing the sound of a TG-2 on the internet. Made me realize I gotta get a TG-2 if I'm gonna do some tame impala sounds
The Tame Impala sound comes more from the compressor Kevin uses (dbx 165 overeasy, the new models are basically identical in sound). Reverb did a great job demonstrating how he gets his sound.
Capi sounded best to me :) Actually would say they sound more modern. The low end is not boomy and undefined like a neve, but its tight yet blooming in a perfect way. And the topend is not crunchy like the TG2, and that makes me think you could get a modern topend by just eqing it up :)
