To use the app we need to provide a numer for SMS autentication, but as a turist I can´t receive SMS outside of my country. So I dont know how to get the bike.
Ok I ride in Chicago and this is what I plan to do in DC cuz no thanks to walking thru and to the monuments. That I’m concerned about tho. Like rules. In Chicago there are bike lanes and all that. So we shall see
So if I buy the $8 day pass, how can I ride for 3 hours for $8? If I dock a bike within 45 minutes and check out right away the same bike, there is no extra fee?
That's how I understand it. You purchased an $8 pass, ride it all day, but make sure you check the bike into a dock every 45 minutes. It's the only way that makes sense to me. If people aren't forced to dock the bikes, there would be many fewer bikes available for use. Remember there is the annual and monthly pass user. If those people just put those bikes in their hotel or apartment, no one else could use the bike.
If you bring your own bike/helmet/lock then I could do a custom bike tour. Since most travelers don't travel with all of that I almost never do. I'd check out DC Cycling Concierge.
If I have the annual membership, can I ride my bike to a station 30 minutes away, dock it, then just get back on it again ? Or is it unlimited 30 minute bike rides
Seen you yesterday by the spy museum and I tried to say hi but you completely ignored me.😂 but either way your videos helped a lot with our dc trip! Thank you
We are going to DC for the first time in 2 weeks... we would like to use these bikes to tour around the National Mall. My question is, are there places at each of the monuments to lock the bikes up while we check out the monuments/memorials, etc?
If your bike ride and meal take up more then 45 minutes, you'll be charged extra. You should dock the bike and recheck it out within the 45 minute ride window.
i just had a 2 hour stop over in dc on amtrack and took an hour e bike capital bike rental ride thru the lyft app it was $10.16, but watching this could i have gotten it free it cheaper or free if i docked it before a half hour?
Short answer: no. With an annual membership, if every ride is on a regular bike and under 30 min you will never pay anything other than the once per year fee. This is how I have used Capital Bikeshare for the past decade. If you take rides longer than 30 minutes or use the e-bikes then there are additional charges.
Hey Rob. Does the usage fee reset every time you check out a bike? For example, could I check out a bike, drop it off at a station below the 30 minute mark, and immediately check out another bike to continue riding, repeating this for no extra cost?
