DUDE .. DAN... you know when someone says I'm sorry waaay to much.. ? Don't apologize or say people are gonna disagree with your opinions. We who are your fans appreciate the work you put into this show and the daily show. Man you give facts and go in depth as much as you can and I can't thank you enough. Those other Foolish people will never be swayed. I love listening to people I wish I could talk to on a daily basis about my thoughts and theories on movies and tv. Thank you and keep up your amazing job. Your fan Joseph!!
This is an amazingly well done video. Well researched, well structured, and clear and concise explanations. Dan, you've out done yourself with this one. Keep being awesome.
I wish there were more videos like this educating people on how to process and validate information. The internet can give the illusion of concensus when it's not really there.
I love the way Dan explains all this stuff so logically, genuinely, backed with facts and no sensationalism. This is a huge reason why i watch SJU. No BS info. Dan is only talking about the film industry in this video. But so many of the points he makes are happening right across our society in general. Thanks Dan, Thanks SJU.
Some very vocal people are obsessed with tearing things down that are even vaguely portrayed as being more egalitarian. We still have dozens of white male movies, but have a single movie where the lead said she wanted a more representative interviewing line up, and some people lose their minds. I thought it was pretty good, like most Marvel movies. I shared the same views the SJN guys had pretty much. I think she'll be better in Endgame, the Russo brothers just seem to make amazing movies, but I'll still buy this. So far I don't really hate any of the MCU so far. Some have been dodgy, but they've all entertained me, and some have been amazing. I'm just glad we're getting more variety of heroes. I never would have dreamed of this as a kid.
Very true. The same strategies (taking quotes/numbers out of context) have been used to spin many other stories. Unfortunately, most people won't take the time to dig deeper. Dan is a hero for raising awareness about this.
I am glad somebody is. I don't like the movie myself and I have a lot of beef with it, but the lies being pushed by the by these other group with a clear agenda. It is becoming way too common for all us to get bombarded with the lies these groups are trying to push. It becomes really worrisome when you consider how many people are believing them and trying to stir up controversy where there is none.
@@Rostifurd The critical Captain Marvel videos spread a lot of rumors around, but they have no "agenda". Their intention isn't a secret or concealed. They're attempting to spread awareness ABOUT agendas, and some times rumors get started. The controversy is that there's a pattern involved in hijacking things that males care deeply about and turning it into something that spits in the faces of existing fans, and portrays a really desperate form of feminism where its really forced and in your face, constantly, inescapable. It's a political statement disguised as something else. That's an agenda.
@@shift7808 Not disagreeing or agreeing, I don't know enough about your viewpoint, but how did any of that apply to Captain Marvel? I've read Captain Marvel comics off and on since it was a Kree man, and had never considered it a feminist move when Danvers took up the mantle a few years ago, just a logical step in the characters arc based on both characters' history. I didn't notice a ton of feminism in the actual movie either, certainly not forced or in your face. If the criticism continues past release to the point of fabricating conspiracies about ticket fraud or ignoring factual data about sales just to fit a narrative...well certainly not all but at least some of the anti captain marvel crowd(I didn't even know there was an anti captain marvel crowd...) is definitely pushing an agenda.
As someone who manages a movie theatre in Little Rock, Arkansas (Dan, you know what’s up) I can confirm that on opening weekend of Captain Marvel, we had a record breaking weekend for us with attendance with many sold out shows, and pretty much every single person who bought a ticket showed up. The long ass concession lines don’t lie!
well there's no way to check because when captain marvel came out the thrleaters I called to see if it was a hoax all told me there was a new rule that they weren't allowed to discuss it anymore.
I went on opening weekend, and sat in a nearly empty theater. BUT: -It was never advertised as sold out -They had showings of Captain Marvel every 15 minutes that night, and the theater lobby was busy -It was a Sunday night -It was at a less popular theater that often has big name movies with empty theaters It's easy to fake "evidence" for your point if you ignore context. Thank you Dan for being rational!
I went Tuesday first week at 4pm showing at a smaller theatre chain that had 8 showings of CM and 4 showings of Alita , pretty empty with only a dozen or so until previews and ads were over then another couple of dozen wandered in. That was why I picked that viewing, a bit early for the school crowd , and late for the people that have to get home and do dinner. Checked out the Alita viewing on the way in which was half way through and only saw maybe a dozen max, but same factors at work there with timing P.S I enjoyed it, yes Brie was a touch stiff at times, but first time for her in that type of environment and I would expect great improvement as she becomes comfortable in the role and with the other cast members. Going again next week (midweek at 4pm again as I am retired and have always been a sci fi fan though never really interested in comics except Charlie Brown type for a insightful chuckle)
Yep, data is only useful in context. If someone is giving you data and not showing you the context of the data, you damn will better be looking to confirm the context of the data yourself. Unforunatley what many people will do, as confirmation bias is a thing, if someone is presenting data to them that confirms their bias, they will not check the data in context and take it as how its presented. They tend to only question data from the opposition.
Common sense, ppl... y'all pretending nobody has school or work on a Monday. I would expect EVERY movie to have a Monday drop-off unless said Monday is a holiday.
I literally stared at the wall for five minutes trying to find a time I've seen a movie on a weekday during the day and not during a holiday like damn I can't think of a time.
@Robert Grant But leading up to the movie, it was treated the same way by trolls and the media. Both had less than stellar trailers as well. But why do you dislike Disney? That's the sense I'm getting from your comments. What did Disney do to you, buddy?
@Robert Grant Yeah, I didn't like Last Jedi much either, even though it had two of the coolest scenes I've ever seen in a Star Wars movie. But I didn't blame Disney for it...I blamed Rian Johnson. (^-^)
Not doing a good job though. He's mainly attacking the source itself rather than going after the facts, and instead of presenting something to the contrary he just states his own conjecture. You see this crap all the time nowadays.
Capt Marvel wasn't my favorite Marvel movie either (I think the directors made a lot of missteps) and I'm almost annoyed that I find myself defending it right and left because people are unreasonably hating on it and making really stupid excuses to negate its success. It's ridiculous.
I don't normally watch SJ beyond the occasional honest trailer. But I want to congratulate you guys on the (surprisingly) wholesome comment section. This means you're cultivating good fans, and that's a merit to you. That's it. peace.
You should really tune in to SJU more often. I don’t always agree with them on everything, but they are always refreshingly positive and respectful even when discussing movies they didn’t personally enjoy. My other go to for positive movie new/reviews is Kevin Smith.
Too bad this video is only 36mins. I mean, watching Dan deconstruct all the haters & trolls tinfoil conspiracy theories. I disagreed with Dan’s review of CM but I 💯 agree with him on this video. Sadly, the people who should watch this video will never learn anything from it. Common sense isn’t something they have. The worst part, the false reporting and misinformation is believed by many blindly.
Screen Junkies, please take this suggestion seriously. Even if it wasn't a weekly show (we know Dan's a busy guy.) Once a month, quarterly, whatever - I would watch that show.
On a similar note, after Capt Marvel came out, it's funny how many click bate videos came up with "the PROBLEM with Capt Marvel " or similar titles. This is what I hate about the internet. The hate and negativity. Very good video. If I ever use social media again I'll share this.
Some youtube channels like The Quartering made 20 videos about Captain Marvel. He gets about 500 thousand views per video. Even if they are the same 500k guys clicking 20 videos in a row, that's a ton of monetization made for stirring the pot. Some channels, like Geek + Gamers, literally made 100 videos about it. Literally. It's not just about Captain Marvel, or movies. You get way more outrage and get more reviews and money if you shat on a video game, or a corporation, or a sports figure or a politic or someone else's channel. There's no incentive to make a single, well thought, moderate video with data and facts. You get much more money with much less effort if you just rant for 15 minutes, 20 times in a row, and milk the audience.
@Emiscary1 right, but I'm not going out of my way to make videos of what I hate, or go and put extra effort into going around belittling things for no reason. Like I said, I'm well aware that I'm complaining. However, I don't see how making a comment in a video, which is comparatively very bland, is remotely close to the amount of spite that the anti Capt marvel videos have. I do get what you're trying to say but it is drastically not the same.
they are just doing it for clicks, views , subs and when they go live. Super Chats! It's the flavor of the last couple months. I wonder what will be next.
@@chadcrypto2675 I dont think its just because of clicks and views. We cant pretend a lot of those channels and accounts don't have political reasons for hating a female lead super hero franchise that has an out spoken actress as the main character. They need this film to be a failure to prop up their world view. The fact that they've been reduced to such bizarre conspiracy theories when it didnt speaks volumes.
@@BaronVonLethal I think it has more to do with the people praising this movie for political reasons only and the main actress saying stupid stuff 27/7 Similar story to Black Panther tbh.
If I could give Dan a standing ovation in a RU-vid comment, I would. He's right in that it's not about CAPTAIN MARVEL or Disney or the Screen Junkies brand. It's about objective truth and the mass majority of people online taking things at face value and never questioning the source or motivations behind the story. It's collectively dumbing us down and removing honest discourse. Everyone just picks a side and sticks to their agenda and in the end, nobody wins. Thank you, Dan, for fighting the good fight. Keep it up!
@@crescendyr8438 When looked at objectively both sides has problems...if you buy into one side too strongly then chances are you drank some kind of kool aid. From what I can tell the "main stream" does try to paint the "opposition" badly and throw all of them into the same bucket. In reality, there is a wide spread of reactions from people who didn't like the Brie Larson "situation"... some of them do go a little too overboard....some a lot....but some have valid observations.
@@crescendyr8438 Frankly I see both sides have conspiracies. It just so happens the two sides have very different "targets" they harp on. On some issues the Right has its conspiracies and the Left is the voice of reason (like now). Sometimes it's the Left with the conspiracies and it's the Right who says the obvious. Sometimes both of y'all are being idiots and everyone I know just wants to give ya both a big middle finger. Sometimes you're both right in your own ways and would be able to accomplish a lot if you just got over yourselves for once. Now I definitely know what side I think has "worse" shenanigans overall. (It's the Right.) I also know what side's shenanigans have a worse effect on me personally. (It's the Left.) But just because one side is "better" doesn't automatically make it "inherently good". The lesser of two evils is still itself a form of evil (to speak in metaphors).
@@dtester This is a fallacy of moderation. The truth or "objectivity" doesn't necessarily lie at the middle point between two sides. For instance, the "truth" on climate change doesn't lie somewhere between believing its anthropogenic and believing it's not real. In this instance, there is no "middle truth" between the sides saying Captain Marvel was an international hit and others saying it did poorly. There is no "middle truth" between people saying Disney bought out empty theaters and people saying there's no evidence to support that. The "truth" doesn't always or even necessarily lie in between two positions. Sometimes, things are just correct.
@@IBBMS Actually, no it's not fallacy of moderation. I'm pretty sure you are using that completely wrong. Looking at some "objectively" is not stating a "truth". It's me saying what I'm trying to be impartial in some observations that I presented. Take a look at what I wrote. I submitted no "truths" at all.....your response makes no sense.
Keep doing this. It’s frightening how far those people go in trying to explain away the success of a movie that didn’t serve their world view I didn’t know that it had gotten so bad!
Thank you for making this Dan. Some people are reaching extremely too far (Stretch Arm Strong Style) trying to make horrible narratives about this movie! They are crazy! Keep up the great work!
Just My Opinion Reviews I couldn’t watch any thing about Captain Marvel last week because of certain narratives. It got so annoying that I could barely watch any movie review channels. Even though Dan didn’t like the movie he still is presenting the facts which I really appreciate.
Must be fun being a RU-vid "journalist" these days. All you need is: A. Find something people are angry about. B. Make a minimum 10 minutes video quoting unconfirmed information you found or made up rumors. C. Give it a clickbait title and eye-catching thumbnail. D. Let the clicks and ad revenue come in. E. Never release a correction or apology because who cares, you already got paid and spread a little more hatred in the world. Thank you Dan for being an island of sanity in this crazy industry sea.
@kkaradin I was not talking about Dan. I literally thanked him for being an island of sanity in a crazy filled media sea. I was talking about all the bombastic click bait videos and half baked articles that exist only to spread rumors and shift the nerative to what they see fit or just make money out of ignorance of gullible people. Facts don't matter to them and there is no accountability.
There isn't anything to disagree with in this video. People denying facts these days get to me on a fundamental level and worries me just what people will say and do to protect their biases and personal agendas.
there is exactly one thing to disagree with in this video -- dan's opinion of the movie. i think it's pretty awesome. but that's fine because opinions are subjective. numbers are not.
Said this already on Twitter, but it bears repeating: This was one of the most succinct breakdowns of internet trolling and misinformation culture plaguing the internet and fandom right now. That was amazing!
@MJPK Trolls is a shorter and nicer description than the delusional subhumans that spread nonsense deserve. And you actually need more counter evidence? Amazing.
It's not quite that simple, and its honestly the same with Captain Marvel fan videos. People were excited to see Captain Marvel succeed, so a lot of people ran with rumors that supported their hopes for the film.
@@shift7808 It is relevant because now it doesn't matter if people were putting a positive or negative spin on the movie because it has been out for several weeks and the numbers are the numbers. The fans/critics have no more power now than the haters. The film is a success. End of story. Is it the highest grossing film ever? No. Is it a stain on the MCU's legacy? No. It's just another notch in Marvel's belt as they prepare to introduce the world to the X-Men and FF done correctly.
This is the best video I've ever seen Dan or Screen Junkies do. When you can break up "theories" with straight up facts, I will always be for that. Wish facts meant more across the board in society today. Excellent work!
To be fair he seems pissed off a lot. I think he's as frustrated as I am with this world. It's going to shit, and there is little that can be done to stop it. God knows he's trying with wonderful videos like this.
He's done an amazing job trying to contain himself. Never even used the word "alt right" once. If I had made a video, I'd just throw around words, yelling "incel" haha
@mxt mxt So you admit to being stupid ("...also stupid?") and use the auto industry, something that is nowhere near close to movie industry, aside from branding I suppose, to give you some sense of credibility (reaching much). Interestingly enough I saw another of your kind (maybe it was also you) who attempted to downgrade the MCU's accumulated box office profits, an impressive achievement that took 10+ years to achieve, by comparing it to the real estate industry, saying that people in the real estate business make loads more money in a single year than the entirety of the MCU has. News flash, everyone is going to need a car OR real estate deals down the line, sooner or later, because they have become necessities in today's era. The only thing that has kept Hollywood afloat these past 10 years is the MCU. Only now are they getting decent competition from WB and Sony with hits such as Aquaman, Spiderverse, Godzilla, Pokemon and so on. Keep denying CM's success all you want but the truth is that you are grasping at straws here. Take this as you will.
@mxt mxt If I listened to so called reviewers that said a movie was bad I would have missed many that I enjoyed. The worst movie I ever went to see was one that reviewers were raving about, I found it boring.
First time I've come across your channel, and I never leave comments on anything but..... Really really well done. Great breakdown of the numbers, strategies, and what they mean to the business aspect of film making. Respect!
I'm only 6 minutes in and just have to say thank you Dan. Thank you for being the voice of reason and providing cold hard facts to shut down these trolls. It's just ridiculous how they're STILL trying to spin this movie as a massive disaster. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
*almost done with the video, sees that only 5 minutes left* "Holy shit, I forgot this was still going!" Maybe I'm just numb to Dan Rants at this point. I don't know why people are so intent on slandering this movie. I mean, I KNOW why people do it, but I don't understand why people think their attitude toward it is justified. Grown-ass adults seem to still believe that girls have cooties or some bullshit like that.
Most of this misinformation comes from RU-vidrs who falsely think having a decent amount of subscribers somehow makes them more intelligent, yet those subs can't do nothing to improve their reading comprehension.
There are flat-earth channels with thousands and thousands of subscribers too. Having a larger number of subscribers does not mean you are correct. As for me there are comic oriented channels I've recently simply unsubscribed and stopped my patreon support too because they jumped onto the captain marvel conspiracy theories and push out of context data to push passing bs to their audience. There are still plenty of people though willing to be paid to be lied to. This isn't anything new. other Conspiracy groups and Teleevagelists and other have been doing it for decades. And in the information age when any moron can put up a channel it has become even easier to get morons to network together to bilk out of money.
Dan, I just want you to know that what you shared in this video did NOT fall on deaf ears. Thank you for standing up for what was right even for a film that didn't quite connect with you, but you still gave it a fair chance in your assessment backed by facts. Continue to be honest, and truthful in your perspective.
Thank you Dan. I had the same feelings as you did about Captain Marvel being “okay” and Brie Larson being a little underwhelming. But to try and push a fake narrative about the box office to put down the movie is ridiculous. I ended up unsubscribing from 2-3 channels who kept posting everyday about the movie failing and it drove me nuts
Was one of them Nerdrotic? Because I subbed them last year for the Expanse videos they were doing, but lately every video from anyone that starts with capt. marvel is looking more and more like clickbait to me, and has been for weeks now!
It kept showing in feed, annoying, I had to click Not Interested many times, and yet when I watched some CM related video, it showed again. Probably it will again after watching this.
Kenjong Mendez - The Quartering and No Bullshit. I remained subbed to the channels that just gave it bad reviews and talked about it in context with the MCU, but couldn’t stand the false information some were using just to put down a movie.
If you're subscribed to channels or news sources that are spewing the myths that Dan just busted, maybe question your subscriptions to said places. If they're lying about this, what else are they lying to you about.
I'm not subscribed to said channels I can name 3 or 4 but I see them on my recommend list a lot ….most of them just did not like brie's comment and that’s the main issue …. But to make a video every day reporting the daily drop off in box-office seems a bit much ….but again they got recommended so who am I to judge?
@@nasraabdullah6935 RU-vid's algorithm really sucks. I clicked on "Not Interested" on those sensationalist videos, but they're still the next video in auto-play when I watch Captain Marvel-related content. It really is about clicks and views; nobody cares about the truth anymore.
@@nasraabdullah6935 I've got one channel that I'm seriously considering unsubscribing from after all this debacle. They've got hours of content talking about Larson's comments and even repeated the seat buying conspiracy theory (though they categorized it as a rumor). I didn't like this movie. I feel like I'm spending too much time listening to people talk about how bad it is. RU-vid's algorithm really needs to get better.
I think your comment combined with Dan's mention of how outrage really drives clicks on the internet really hits on something important. When you've got channels that are more or less driven by angry rants, then take a step back and consider that maybe all they're interested in is feeding that machine. They don't care about facts, they just care about what's going to drive more clicks. And even if they're lying, that'll drive clicks because it goes against the grain of reality. They can pull the "I'm the only one that's willing to tell you the truth" nonsense.
@@stickkman by any chance is it Midnight's Edge? I have a love/hate relationship with that channel. Sometimes they seem to be spot on with their videos and other times they're just stirring the pot to get their followers riled up.

Also people work on Monday folks, Monday drop-offs are good because it means the majority of peeps are employed...
SPMNDK89 not to mention, it means that most people went out to see the movie during the weekend and didn’t feel the need to go out again after being back to work in a Monday.
SPMNDK89 love the movie but what amaze me is my seven year love it actually went home telling her daddy how she like it and she normally sleeps through all movies no matter how good they are no matter what time I take her .....so far two movie she stay awake on was Jurassic Park and now Captain Marvel
It was fun and I did like it a lot. The start of the film was so so and I liked it more at the point she crashed into the blockbuster. Goose for the win! I want to see Rocket meet up with goose in a later film. Too many of these nerds had poured all their insecurities into shit Brie said or even didn't say.
Yes, we made the 3 hour drive to to see CM because she had a disappointing experience at school. It really wasn’t really about the movie, although she loves the MCU, it was about creating a cherished memory and making sure she was o.k.

Hopefully this changes some minds and makes people more critical about the sources they're using to get facts about these things and they can stop spreading these lies. Great video :)
@I Identify as a Dragon Yes, well you have to hop into their mentality to understand why they went with a Monday number. They started off the pre-release narrative of the movie bombing, then when it did not bomb on opening they predicted it would hit in reviewership subsequently. The first number tehy get is the Monday viewership drop figure. This number appears high in the 70%... so it looks large, so they use this to give to tehir audience to show their right. That is pretty much all the thought that went in to it. There was no concern if the number was actually high... it just had to look high from a contextless view that the person can just insert the context they want into.
This is a video of Dan giving the smack down to people that try to make numbers lie. Numbers don't lie they don't have an agenda that's why Dan loves them. Anyone trying to use numbers to lie must incur the wrath of Dan The Mad-Man Murrell!!!!!!!!!
You’re an idiot if you think the numbers are not potential lies. Hollywood has every reason to lie in order to boost artificial sales to artificially hype and get viewers into theaters. Anyone can ramble numbers off from the friggen internet. So many numbers are all over the place making little sense and the fact is Disney hasn’t provided any of the numbers and proof they’re actually legitimate. So don’t be an idiot and stop believing everything you hear on the internet and worshiping some idiot because he made a RU-vid video with his biased opinion.
Glenn Edward but he just showed that if that happened literally everywhere they'd only make a 10% profit and we know for a fact that there are only two examples of it. So why would they waste their time
Yeah, I started following them during the Ghostbusters 2016 thing because frankly that was a pile of very superficial and largely fake feminism. Yes, obviously Disney is a Capitalist company and they require profits, but they have been hiring some decent people with an actual substantial message and not just cocky attitudes and catchy platitudes. I started to get the sense that Midnight's Edge were catering to an anti-feminist audience when they kept saying Kathleen Kennedy was going to be fired due to Solo which, yeah it was a bad movie, but that's a ridiculous assertion to make. Her batting average has slipped a little in the last decade or so but you're talking about a Producer with a legendary career. I'm really sick of Midnight's Edge now. Also their Facebook group is Very Toxic.
Breaking News: If you build a brand over 10 years you can take a mediocre movie and make money in spite of toxic politics. In other news, grass is green and the sky is blue.
I've been paying attention to movie box office for like 35 years ever since Entertainment Tonight first went on the air. And I've never heard of anyone paying attention to a mivies' Monday numbers.
@Robert Grant Really? I just checked IMDB's Advanced Search feature and here are just some of the high-profile Disney movies from 2010 through the present that critics did not like (being categorized as "red" or "yellow" by Metacritic): A Wrinkle in Time; The Nutcracker and the Four Realms; The Sorcerer's Apprentice; I Am Number Four; Cars 2; Alice Through the Looking Glass; Oz the Great and Powerful; The Lone Ranger; Tomorrowland; Alice in Wonderland; John Carter; Prince of Persia; Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales; TRON Legacy; Cars 3; Maleficent; Thor: The Dark World; Real Steel; Christopher Robin. To expand on this, from the year 2000 through the present, there have been 144 Disney-related movies with a "red" or "yellow" Metacritic rating and 102 "green". ~58% bad versus ~41% good, according to critics. By comparison, from the year 1900 through the year 1999, there were 80 red and yellow, and there were 80 green. 50% to 50%. So the new millennium has actually seen critics get harder on Disney? Or maybe there's no conspiracy and critics just say what they personally think. =]
You can make "facts" if you have the right amount of money/power. I knew the movie was going to not flop. Its an MCU movie. It could be emoji movie quality and people would flock to see it.
Great video, Dan. I tried to carry on an argument with another RU-vidr peddling the exact conspiracy that you addressed at the end. Tried to tell him that corporate accounting doesn't work like that and a publically traded company's books are constantly audited. It'd be difficult to impossible for Disney to hide 100+ million expenditure that would have gone into the "fake" box office. Furthermore, if Disney was going to pull a stunt like this, they would have done it for Solo and TLJ. Disney spent a ton more money on the SW IP and the success of those movies means more to Disney than one out of the 20+ MCU films. Didn't go so well because I was automatically a Disney bot.
Frank Liu Well, that's the problem with those who peddle conspiracies. Any evidence you bring them that disproves their conspiracies is immediately denounced as fake and part of the conspiracy. And then they will claim you are are part of the conspiracy, or deluded. Because Science did a whole video explaining the twisted thinking of the conspiracy theorist.
I know I'm late to this party but I just want to report for the record that I attended the 2nd screening of Captain Marvel on opening Thursday in my city and every seat was occupied. Nanaimo, BC, Canada.
Um... Unfortunately, the host of this video only gave personal opinions backed by articles on every sub-section on the video. Opinions aren't facts lol. Though I don't really care if Capt Marvel did well or not, objectively speaking none of his analysis is conclusive either. He technically cannot say if things are fact or fiction because it lacks sufficient information to conclude anything. This is also an opinion, so take it as a constructive critique on the video
Who goes to the movies on Monday? People trying so hard to downplay this movie that now we care about Monday's. Watch 5 weeks from now oh look captain marvel only made 5 million this weekend total failed 95% drop from opening weekend lol
Truth. My days are Thursday night for major releases that hold my interest (the MCUs, mainly), and Saturday or Sunday for regular viewing (typically in the afternoon, because matinee is cheaper). Occasionally if I have a day off in the middle of the week there MIGHT be a weekday viewing, but usually it's just those.
Indeed. They're just trying to cherry-pick facts to make their predictions look better or trying to smear the movie. It's kind of sad. However, it's very frustrating at the same time.
exactly nobody is going to the movies with their family on a Monday 😂😂 everybody knows Monday is the day of the week that us humans dread the most so why the hell would we feel like going into a loud ass movie theatre on a monday lol
Chad Crypto I’m the same, mostly. Friday at noon or as close to it, specifically to avoid crowds and that I am able to go during the day during the week. Failing that, then Monday or Tuesday... unless I’m really nervous about spoilers. I was actually surprised at the number of kids in the Friday noon IMAX viewing I went to.
If Disney buys tickets, they have to be covering concessions. Movie theaters would be pissed if they lose their popcorn money from 25 seats per showing.
@Chiriac Puiu if this was happening, most movie theaters would notice that they had a slow day on concessions for how many people bought tickets. And that's assuming they didn't notice the empty theaters themselves or the theaters selling out online but no one coming to pick up the tickets.
@Chiriac Puiu Y'all trolls picked a dumb hill to die on months ago and ya got smoked the last two weeks and just won't stop, but that's ok, keep catchin those L's like a good boy 😂😂
Chiriac Puiu Sure, I bet Brie is sitting in her mansion crying into wads of money because a few irrelevant people like you who couldn’t even hurt CM box office hurt her feelings.
the amount of sensationalized Captain Marvel and Brie Larson videos i've seen on thumbnails have been so frustrating. This factual based opinion/discussion was super refreshing. Thank you.
Unfortunately, they’re still doing the sensationalized Brie Larson videos. For people that hate her so much, they keep talking about her a lot. If they really want to make her irrelevant, ignore her.
the 64 people who disliked this are the ones who made the videos and articles that Dan is talking about also I would/have watched videos of Dan talk numbers
Unfortunately, this is the world we live in. Get enough followers, make money by selling what they want to hear, and thereby get more subscribers...the cycle continues. Who cares about the truth? Thank goodness there is Dan.
A lot of people have been saying that Tyrone Magnus needs to see this video. Well, people have tried and even brought it up in his anti captain marvel rants. To those who dont know who he is, he a strong conspiracy theorist who believes that Disney bought up the tickets for Captain Marvel. Here's the ironic part, he deletes any message that disagrees with him. So if you've went to one of his videos and brought it up and wondered why there was no response, from him or anyone, it's because he doesn't block you from seeing his videos. It appears that you're still able to comment and you even see your comment but others dont. This was brought to my attention when my nephew said he'd posted a link to Dan's video on one of Tyrone's rant videos and I didn't see it. So basically it makes it appear that when you disagree with him and dont receive any thumbs up that everyone thinks you're wrong and it he also censors the comments so to other people viewing it makes it appear that everyone agrees with him. It was brought up because we were talking about how disappointed we were in here in finding out he was such an insecure weak minded individual after being supporters of his for so long, going back to when he had less than 100,000 subscribers, even supporting him on other channels like Collider. People weren't attacking him, just trying to have an honest debate and give him facts and data on why he's wrong, like Dan said to do at 33:30. Also, so he'd stop spreading lies and misinformation around. I'm against bullying. If he had an opinion that people disagreed with then thats one thing but he has blatantly spread misleading information and lies around about Brie Larson and Captain America. Whether he liked the movie or didn't like it didn't matter, it was all about doing what Dan is now, trying to stop nonsense lies. So if you have tried to educate Tyrone Magnus on the facts, you may see your comment but no one else does so thats why no one is responding to your comment or giving any thumbs up. One reason why he may believe Disney has done all this misleading stuff is because he does it himself, thats the ironic part of it. Now after finding this out I must say that he is an insecure whiny sexist pathetic uneducated loser who puts his hands over his ears so he doesn't have to learn the real data and facts. So he can live in his own little fantasy world. Now if a person wants to do that and they're not bothering anyone then thats fine but this guy Tyrone Magnus is a pathetic loser who after 3 weeks still wont let it go. It's a shame that Dan has to spend so much time disproving made up nonsense and providing research and facts on things that should be common sense just because people like him want to be immature hating trolls with agendas that dont want to hear the truth because they already know they're lying.
stopped to watch his videos a long time when he reacted to stuff of others unasked and not informed them so he got the money. Don't like how he pretends fan but has some shady stuff.
F him, i used to like him. But never subscribed. I question him when he said bvs is the best superhero movie ever and TLJ was the worst starwars. And he cryng week after week for CM is just pathetic. And wont admit his mistake... Meh
I'll tell you, I watch a lot of movie and game review/analysis shows. Cinema and gaming are my passions. And I'm not one to normally "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" a RU-vid video. If I like something...I just say to myself that I liked it and move on. But this is the first video in 2 years that I've taken the time to give a thumbs up, comment on doing so, and shared on my personal Facebook review page. I appreciate Dan for doing this. My only regret is that he can't clone himself and do a video like this for every movie I've ever loved that was killed by bad, incorrect or hateful press. Thank you Dan. Thank you Screen Junkies. I hope that your channel prospers until the heat-death of the universe.
Love you for this, Dan. The venom and lies spewed over this film are upsetting. You either like a movie or you don't. Politics in art is not new. Every film is in some way reflective of the people who made it including their politics. That is not a reason to spread lies. Tell the truth. Don't spread lies around trying to discredit a film because other people like it. That is just petty and a waste of everyone's time.
Revan Ruler Ha, you don't even know how moronic they are (like main complaints of new She-Ra were changes to the main lore even though they didn't change it). There has to be some mental issues/deflections in order to be such losers: www.reddit.com/r/moviescirclejerk/comments/az2a66/i_dont_care_about_captain_marvel_geeksgamers/ People unironically watch these videos rabbidly and then claim they are righteous because some losers on the internet said they have to dislike a movie. Anti-SJWs are the biggest SJWs, change my mind.
I still hate Captain Marvel and I'm proud that I cheered for the film to tank. And I will stick by that to the end. Just because it didn't tank doesn't mean it *should* have.
@@xamhehehe7888 Nobody: Xam: "I still hate CM." -------------- Xam: "Just because it didn't tank doesn't mean it *should* have." Also Xam: *"I cheered for the film to tank."*
@@Ghost7065 and even if you forget about the agenda its pushing. Its just a straight up bad film, the only 2 good things i can think of is fury and coulson lol. The rest ranges from meh to straight up shit lol.
