@@awkwardashleigh As well you should. Think about it this way: Only the most powerful beings in the universe can so much as touch an infinity stone. We saw in Guardians what happens when a mere mortal holds it in their hands. The flerken ATE one without so much as a burp. "High Threat" indeed.
@Jason Weible Goose has a name. Don't be mean, just cause he got irritable from Infinity Stone Indigestion and lashed out at Fury for shaking him. Flerkens are generally docile and sweet natured, and only high threats if antagonized or being manipulated. Note: if Beans starts laying eggs, that is proof of being a Flerken, and you may end up with up to 117 baby Flerkens.
You've already seen the "Blue Guys" (the Kree) working with Thanos. Ronan, the big bad in Guardians, was the Kree commander in Captain Marvel that decided to retreat when she confronted their fleet.
@@Umptyscope That is correct. To expand on that, Stan Lee notoriously had a lot of trouble delivering his lines on camera. So Smith provided a few alternate takes from Mallrats that they could overdub to make it accurately sound like Stan was practicing his lines.
And for Ashleigh... this was his last on-screen cameo before he passed (I think Into The Spider-verse, which was a voice role, may be the last-last). Hence the Marvel opening being all Stan.
Remember the first Guardians of the Galaxy? The villain? And yes, Cap was the first Avenger because he was the first hero Fury recruited. He had plans, but Cap was the first.
Personally, if I were to show someone new the MCU, I would movie two movies. This would be before GOTG, since it serves as a better introduction to the Kree. And Black Widow would be just after Civil War, which is where it should have been made.
@@happyninja42 She's been going at the pace of one MCU movie a month, so it's taken her a while. She decided to watch a few more than usual this month, just to finish Phase 3 by the end of the year.
So to Clarify about Stan Lee. They filmed his cameos in advance because of how he was in his 90's durong this last grouping and so he died before this film came out thus the tribute at the beginning. He did one more cameo in a MCU film which is in Avengers Endgame, but that was not the last one he did all together which was Spiderman Into the Spiderverse.
@@awkwardashleigh Stan had recently lost his Wife of many, many years. He was in his 90’s…there were stories of him being manipulated to make appearances, for money….how true all that was…not sure..
You can always tell if someone has a cat or not by how fast they figure out what's up in the second post-credits scene. Every cat owner (or servant) knows EXACTLY what that position means, and many had an instinctive reaction to try to shoo him off the bed.
The "Avenger" Initiative was created after Fury met Carol in the 1990s. So, the first person he recruited would be Steve in 2008. So yes, that makes Steve the First Avenger.
Even beyond being "recruited by Fury," Cap was a hero on ice for decades. He was around long before any of the other Avengers were even born. That's enough for me to call him the first Avenger.
For me, the brief exchange between Brie and Stan on the train says so much. Particularly because of the opening montage of just Stan, and the movie being dedicated to him. That tiny exchange, Carol's smile to Stan, comes across to me like it's a "thank you Stan" smile of appreciation from EVERYONE who has somehow found their life improved by Marvel Comics and everyone responsible for the actual comics
People describe this as a captain Marvel, nick fury, superhero buddy comedy and it usually has a negative connotation, and I have no clue why that’s a bad thing 😂
I'll never complain about watching things in release order. That's how we saw it, so watching it in any other order would probably be more confusing because you wouldn't have anyone who could sympathize with your questions.
I disagree. For the most part, release order is a good default. But there are exceptions. Black Widow should definitely have been watched after Civil War. It works WAY better. And it was intended to come out then, but the executives didn't want a female film lead in Marvel at that time.
@@Sam_on_RU-vidnother reactor tried to do chronological order and it confused her. Release order is the way it should go for first time viewing then try out chronological order for rewatch. The MCU just did Black Widow dirty with a years late solo movie and end credit scene makes it harder to fit either way.
one reason she wouldn't pet the cat is that the actress, Brie Larson, is deathly allergic to cats. They had to use a CG cat for most scenes she shared with Goose. Also, yes, those blue guys did work for Thanos, they were the bad guys in the first guardians of the galaxy film. The black guy who said "i laugh inside" is the same guy who said "Who?" when Starlord introduced himself after stealing the orb at the beginning, and Ronan the inquisitor is the guy with the hammer that Starlord had the dance-off against at the end.
Yes, this was the first movie to come out after Stan Lee passed away. He filmed cameos up through Endgame, however. And the de-aging on Sam Jackson in this movie is great until he has a fight scene. Then you remember he's still a 70 year old man throwing punches and running around.
Sorry Ashleigh, but creepy plastic Samuel L. Jackson isn't a more beautiful effect. Thank goodness Hollywood hasn't gotten that right yet or else real actors would be pissed losing jobs to cgi made ones.
It was also the beginning of thebend of Marvel when they started going super woke. They are now getting progressively worse, including the cgi somehow.
@@jasoncar1469 woke is when women are the lead characters? Sorry Marvel already gave us 10 years of dudes being the lead. We've also had Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Thor and multiple Spidermen in the past 12 months. But four months of Ms Marvel, She Hulk and Shuri and the world's on fire lol.
@tomkvideo no, nobody ever called Aliens woke, or The terminator movie, ot Laura Croft etc.. it's especially cringy when then swap out the male character for a female lead. Like they did in Girlbusters. The the original Captain Marvel was a guy. "Representation" is forced and cringe. Create new stories with original strong female characters and nobody would complain. But what they're doing is trampling the story and original characters just for ideology. Having the female Captain Marvel wasn't even the issue, this occurred in the comics as well. It was the woke girl power nonsense that they crammed I there that made it terrible..her being told girls couldn't do thing her whole life, her assaulting and robbing a guy because he hit on her. Just picture that the ther way around and tell me it's acceptable.. what if Captain America beat and robbed a woman because she insulted him? It would cringe af and people would freak out.
@@jasoncar1469 In Tomb Raider it's Lara croft >_>;; A lot of people do say Laura for some reason, but yeah... Lara... And arguably they missed a trick here... If I remember correctly, originally Monica Rambeau was Captain Marvel before Carol... I think Monica was the second and Carol the 6th or something... They could have had a black, female lead... Possibly a more interesting character too lol... Oh well... The most interesting thing about Carol is probably when Rogue took some of her powers, back when she was Ms. Marvel and looked cooler.
Bunch of people mentioned Ronan was the guy near the end on his big ship (same style as the one he used in Guardians of the Galaxy), but they keep skipping the other Kree we see more during this film, who appeared earlier in Guardians of the Galaxy, and is more important in films to come... on the team with Vers is Korath the Pursuer... and before anyone says, "Who?", that was his line in response to "Starlord!", so, you know, he deserves more recognition. Djimon Hounsou (Korath) also needs recognition, since he is all over action and Superhero films: Gladiator, Tomb Raider, Stargate, Constantine, The Island, Eragon, Guardians of the Galaxy, Furious 7, How to train your Dragon series, The Legend of Tarzan, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Aquaman, Shazam, Black Adam, Charlie's Angels, The King's Man, Seventh Son, Push, Rebel Moon, Captain Marvel, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods... seriously, he deserves way more recognition than he gets.
Mads and Djimon are the two biggest wasted casting choices in the MCU. Two great talents and they get non-characters anyone could’ve played. Drives me nuts.
Even if Big Fish wins the poll, I hope Ashleigh does still watch "Everything Everywhere All at Once" for 2023. It is by far my favorite movie of this year.
As much as I absolutely love EEAAO, I'm wondering if it might be an idea to watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon first as an intro to Michelle Yeoh as an actress & fighter.
@@tchjdaedn That's a good idea. I don't think Ashleigh has seen any Michelle Yeoh films yet. It would be nice to see her watch CTHD, or SuperCop, or Crazy Rich Asians.
As a kid I was a hardcore comics fan. Marvel was the BEST. Every comic had a page with Stan's Soapbox where he would talk about different things going on with him the marvel staff, the world or what big news marvel had. Over the years, you really got to know Stan Lee. With his passing, that open credit tribute to Stan had me balling before the movie even started. Captain Marvel was a controversial film. Some fans thought it was wrong to shoehorn her in. Others wanted the Black Widow film in this slot and save Captain Marvel till after End Game, I myself was pissed they went with this version of Captain Marvel. I wanted the OG Captain Marvel or the Monica Rambou (The Best Friend) as Captain Marvel as she was the one I grew up with and led the Avenger for a time. As for End Game. Girl.... Get ready to cheer, get you a stress ball, and some tissues. Infinity War wasn't shit compaired to whats coming.
Sooo happy you liked this; it gets dissed far too much. Your reaction to Goose was priceless! We all have been waiting for your Endgame… can’t wait!! Happy holidays to you and yours
I agree it was dissed too much. It isn't rhe best of the MCU movies but it isn't the worst. I also think after Endgame Mcu gets panned to much. I have liked all rhe movies and am looking forward to seeing Jon Snow in later movies.
@@nataluxx7312 well, there’s that… it really was great. And to know what she does in future films/ TV / animation, Ashleigh will be stoked. Who knew I needed that What If? episode so much.
It's so refreshing to watch someone view this film simply for what it is - and enjoying the heck out of it - instead of being caught up in all the garbage baggage back at release time. I also love that you predicted the "I don't have anything to prove to you" line at the end. It means the scene and the character development did their jobs.
@@Blue_Star_Child X-men: First Class and X-men: Days of Future Past are both Awesome! The rest afterwards are trash. I was so angry after Apocalypse that I never watched Dark Phoenix, and X-men was the first comicbook I ever read in the early 80s so that's saying something coming from me.
@@Blue_Star_Child I absolutely adore Patrick Steward. But Days of futures past and first class a just better movies. Even though Proffessor X and also Magneto are played by lesser Actors. However, strictly speaking the Deadpool films are also X-Men movies. And I really wonna sea Ashley react to those.
I had just started reading Captain Marvel comics, shortly before this movie came out. And what I found cool about it was that I never really knew the limits of her powers. She had 'em, but that wasn't what she was about. She was more about solving problems in whatever way she could.
Ashleigh, I would suggest watching Marvels Agents of Shield and get to know Phil Coulson, the agent helping Nick. All I can say is Tahiti is a magical place.
Yes, Agents of Shield Is a great show!! I think she would love it. She doesn’t have to watch it for us- it’s a lengthy show and a huge time investment for sure- but on her own time I would hope she would find it entertaining :)
I hated the cancel culture when they took a 5 second clip and a sentence out of context to make the actress look bad. And everyone jumped on the bandwagon. That was truly disgusting back then.
It was way more than a 5 second clip. It was what Brie said in an interview, alienating half of her audience. It was the fact that nobody liked her on set in an interview that she did with other Marvel stars. Tons of other stuff, not just the movie. It's also her acting in this film, which is stilted and stiff. I know she has the talent but she's not Captain Marvel IMHO. There were parts I liked of this movie. The main character's portrayal was not one of them. But I also do not see Thor as a comedian, not the Hulk as a sniveling pile either. Disney as a whole has hurt the franchise. Just my opinion.
@@georgehrenchir3408 - you missed the whole point then. The stilted and stiffness was on purpose. She was told over and over not to have emotions, that emotions are weak and bullcrap like that, that women are told all the time. And then when she's on Earth, the bullcrap of "smile more" that women are told all the time too. If we aren't smiling, we aren't cute or pretty to look at. The film was a commentary on patriarchy and women being stifled.
@@georgehrenchir3408 I am not going through this again. Whenever i asked someone to give me a source they all pointed to that 5 second smirk interview to back up their claims. Let's not dive into this again. IMHO she did a great job. I liked the movie.
First time I saw him was Blood Diamond, the man is an incredible actor. I didn't really like most of What If, but the voice work he did in it is pretty hilarious.
No….noooo…. NOOOO!!! The joy I got from you actually liking one of my favorite Marvel films is offset by having to choose between Big Fish and Everything Everywhere All At Once, two of the greatest films made!
Stan “The Man” Lee had passed away in 2018; sometime after the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp. When Captain Marvel came out in early 2019; the producers wanted to pay homage to him and his legacy by doing the Marvel Studios logo with images of Stan from all of his cameos; even (I think) a few that aren’t from the MCU like X-Men (2000), Hulk (2003), Fantastic Four (2005), and Spider-Man (2002). Interesting fact: Stan Lee’s very first cameo in a Marvel movie was back in the 1980’s. It was for The Trial of The Incredible Hulk (1989); the 2nd of three made-for-TV movies based upon The Incredible Hulk TV Series (1977-1982). He played a jury foreman in a courtroom where David Banner is on trial for crimes he didn’t commit. Banner is frustrated during the questioning…he starts to Hulk out…and then…. Well, you have to see the film for yourself.
Great reaction as always Ashleigh, seems like you were having a really good time watching this which is great. Really love Captain Marvel, such a great film. Looking forward to your next MCU reaction
I'm glad you enjoyed Captain Marvel. It gets a lot of hate but it's not a bad movie at all. The biggest problem I had with it was the lame backstory how Fury lost his eye. I expected something much more interesting. Youll like Big Fish, good movie.
I know a lot of people hated the reveal of how Fury lost his eye, but I found it hilarious. Because we know Fury as a total bad-ass agent, but he has such a soft side in this movie and it’s just funny to me that he lost his eye to an alien cat 😅
Looking forward to seeing your reaction to Endgame. You really missed out not seeing it in theatres, but you're in for a treat nonetheless. Amazing movie.
That the Skrull of the MCU weren't evil or the aggressors was foreshadowed at the beginning of the movie. The Kree are shown in a big city, meanwhile the Skrull are as was mentioned starving where they are attacked in that first battle.
Cap is the first Avenger. He's the first superhuman on the American side. Didn't matter what the team would eventually be called, Cap was already in the first spot. I love Big Fish, it's such a great story. That being said, Everything Everywhere all at Once is one of the best movies ever made. I hope eventually you watch both.
Stan's line from Mallrats he was rehearsing was "Trust me, True Believer," which is a very Stan thing to say. In countless letters pages from the comics he would call readers True Believers; probably the only catchphrase associated with him more was the exclamation "Excelsior!" The cardboard standee from True Lies in the Blockbuster was originally supposed to be for Jim Carey's The Mask. Although it would have been awesome for Carol to have blasted it for being another green face right after what she just went through, there were issues securing rights to use the imagery. And the first DragonCon after this came out, I pulled my old Blockbuster uniform out of storage for some low effort cosplay. I would go up to the Captain Marvel cosplayers and tell them they owed me a new roof.
Everything everywhere is an instant top 10 movie for me. I don't think A24 has ever released anything bad. Swiss Army Man was also an incredible movie from them
If I could Eternal Sunshine myself, I'd love to watch both EEAAO and Swiss Army Man without having any idea of the premises, casts, or seeing the trailers. Both movies are transcendent. Even though I absolutely understand why they're not everyone's cup of tea, they're also completely unbound by the constraints of genre or narrative structure. If anything, they succeed so well because The Daniels use recognized filmmaking language to create an expectation, and then pull a 90° turn just when you thought you knew where things were going.
3:44 Stephen King *might* have invented that trope with Firestarter (adapted into a pretty wild movie, with Drew Barrymore, George C Scott, Martin Sheen, and Freddie Jones) - one of the characters had mind control powers, but when he pushed them hard, his nose started bleeding, because he was giving himself pinprick cerebral hemorrhages.
_Firestarter_ is one of my favorite Stephen King novels. That's where King introduced the Department of Scientific Intelligence, that spooky government agency which kidnapped Charlie and her dad. If you're familiar with King's work, then you know that the DSI goes by another less formal alias: The Shop. Tucked away in _Firestarter_ is the origin of that ironic grisly joke of a nickname. It comes from A.E. Van Vogt's _The Weapon Shops of Isher._ But the Weapon Shops in that book provide near-magical guns to the people of Isher that can only be used to defend themselves against their tyrannical government; The Shop is only interested in expanding government power at the expense of its people. And the broader implications of what The Shop's goals are are terrifying. The drug (or whatever Lot Six _really_ is) that gave Andy and Vicky -- and through them, Charlie -- their abilities was administered to them in an experiment conducted by The Shop. Only one of many. They _want_ to be able to create more Charlies by creating more Andys and Vickys. Eventually, they hope to have their own private army of Firestarters -- all created in secret -- with which they can exercise _world_ domination. After The Shop has its own private army of Firestarters, it is the ultimate power on earth, and the government itself is....expendable. Scary stuff. Good thing it's all fictional, right? Right?
I don't know if this has already come up in breakdown videos, or whatever, but when Fury states that he can't eat toast cut diagonal I felt like the only person who saw how huge of a statement that was. We see him eat diagonally cut toast in another movie, meaning that isn't actually him, if we can believe his statement here.
The theory is he'd been gone since Captain America: Winter Soldier. The theory that after that attack that took him out a Skrull stepped in while he was secreted away to recover.
one (not so subtle) subjects of the movies are toxic relantionships that "made you forget who you are". All the people you know, who can and who you can't trust are decided by others, then she need her old friends (and some new friends) to re-discover herself
3:09 GIRL !? Are you serious? Yes, he died right before this came out. 9:32 Stan loved Kevin Smith like a son, they were VERY close and Mallrats was the first movie Stan was in, the word he was repeating was "Excelsior!" which he said in the movie and it's also how he used to sign off when he did his Editor page in the letters in the Marvel comics. RIP Stan. Gone but never forgotten. 10:01 No, they add credits AFTER the movie is made lol, Stan was alive when they shot the movie, he died a cpl of months before it actually came out though I think.
As someone who lived through the 1990's, I appreciated the subtle nods. I went to my local Blockbusters and Radio Shacks all the time. That, and I saw Mallrats on DVD when it was only a year or so old, so I knew exactly which scene Stan was rehearsing for. Also, the fact that Fury lost his eye to an alien version of Cat Scratch Fever (great song) was hilarious! You should definitely watch the Ms. Marvel TV show, once you hit that point in the MCU timeline. It ties into the sequel to this film.
Thank you Stan was because he died before this came out but during filming his health was declining. Kevin Fiege reached out to Kevin Smith to ask if they had any "B" roll or outtakes of Stan from Mallrats because Stan couldn't really do much speaking which is why he and Carol only share a look and a smile. Stan's lines are actually unused audio footage from Mallrats. Not only was it genius for them to get audio of Stan from the era this movie takes place but it also puts Kevin Smith into the MCU. Side note, Kevin Smith and Stan became really good friends after Stan was in Mallrats and because Kevin is such a comic book fan.
Earth being described by other galactic races as "a real shithole" just reminds me of that one thing I didn't realize until two days ago. We got all that satellite and rocket debris floating around the planet. To other spacefaring races, Earth must look like that hillbilly farmhouse with broken-down cars strewn all over the yard. Probably why none of them has contacted us yet...
So your question about the Kree working with Thanos? That guy on the ship was the same one in Guardians of the Galaxy. Ronin? That had the infinity stone. Good throwback
As @Mark Lee mentions, the Kree were originally introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy. Ronan the Accuser who lead the Kree battle fleet was the main bad guy in Guardians. The black guy that was a member of Vers' team is Korath the Pursuer, the same guy that chases Star Lord. "Maybe you heard of me by another name. Star Lord." "Who?!?" This brings in the Kree-Skrull War which was a big deal in the comics, especially Fantastic Four and Avengers. Neither side was shown to be "good" with the Earth pitted against members of both species. If I remember right, the Skrulls are going to be villains in an upcoming Marvel movie.
People who advocate timeline order instead of release order also probably love cookies with raisins instead of chocolate chips. Evil agents of chaos. They must be stopped.
So an important term to learn with anything comic book adjacent is 'retcon' (portmanteau of 'retroactive continuity'). Basically an explanation added after a plot point to explain, provide new context, or in some cases completely rewrite events that already occurred. In this case, the origin of the name 'Avengers' is a retcon - something that was only added after the fact. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. This movie gets a lot of undeserved flak, but that particular retcon is the only thing I don't like about it. So, at the time the 'First Avenger' tagline was added to the Captain America movie, it was absolutely true. Also, always watch in release order. Prequels or movies set in earlier times are written with that in mind. If you watch in chronological order you're recontextualizing the movies released order in a way that changes the experience from how it was intended. This is one of the big annoyances I have with people watching Star Wars in chronological order... You end up changing the experience, and not for the better.
Except the word "Avenger" isn't even used in the first Captain America film, and it's only called that because in large parts of the world (every part of the world that isn't the USA, really), releasing a film called "Captain America" just isn't done.
End Game will likely be a 2 parter...please I hope you get them both out by end of the year. I have loved watching along with your Marvel journey. Oh and WELCOME to Middle TN!!
It's funny to me how you felt this movie looks so good, because after I got my 4K television at home, Captain Marvel was the first movie I watched on it that had actual 4K and HDR. And it looked SO good, oh my god!
@@JasonZakrajsek Simply due to the personal circumstance I mentioned. Just a coincidence. I suppose it would've been better to say it's cool, but the moment I was writing the comment it made me laugh.
Remember the name Rambeau, it will come up again. I'm so glad you enjoyed this Ashleigh. It _is_ a great movie. It's perhaps not as strong as some of the others in the MCU, but it's still a very entertaining movie. It gets a lot of unwarranted hate, so I'm always happy when people see it for what it is.
We already dealt with the Cree and “blue people”. The main “blue guy” in this movie was Ronin who was the bad guy in Guardians of the Galaxy vol 1. So Thanos and them already had a deal and falling out and Ronin was killed by the Guardians using the Power Stone
So Stan had sadly passed away before this film was released, but he'd already shot his cameos for this and Endgame prior to his passing and since this was the first MCU film to release after passing the opening is dedicated to him.
It's so strange how people think Brie's acting wasn't emotional enough, or epic, or whatever their complaints are. It's just so ODD how people want to control how people BE, how they move their face, as if everyone needs to be this standard of emotions, need to cry in a film, or have a loss of a beloved character, needs to be this superficial idea of "acting", or the same boring emotion arc, rather than just letting themselves relate to the character, imagine themselves as a person who doesn't know who they are, as a fellow human with common interests/experiences. They just can't let a character act like a normal person who got supernatural nearly invincible abilities. Imagine having a friend who judges you the way some people judge Brie Larson's acting in this movie. That'd be such a terrible friend.
Interesting. I could not agree with the first sentence of your comment more, but what I remember was not that they complained about her emotional range, but her politics. No, I don't agree with Brie's politics (or most of Hollywood for that matter) but who cares. She did a fantastic job in this film and this film was just fine. I think the complaints came mostly from Marvel fanboys, regular mysoginists and dare I say it, from conservatives that just can't get past her politics. They all need to either hush up, move on or just accept it.
I completely agree. They say her acting was too “stoic” and “not good” and I’m just like…wasn’t that the point of the whole movie? That she was told to be emotionless and stoic and everything? How did so many people miss that? I don’t understand.
This movie is in the bottom three of most fans MCU movie listings. Captain America will ALWAYS be the first avenger. And he was never a “science experiment gone wrong”. What happened to him was supposed to happen. A science experiment gone wrong was what happened to Red Skull, because it wasn’t tested yet, he was testing it on himself, and the result is his face melted off. But this movie in general is a massive insult to any Marvel comic book fan. They changed so much of the generalized story in order to make this movie. And it was only a money grab by Disney. They knew Endgame was going to be massive in the theaters and they wanted to squeeze one more movie in with the advertising of, “you have to see this movie otherwise you won’t understand Endgame“. Captain Marvel was never a beloved character in comic books. She was rebooted nine times in the same number of years because no one liked her character. They literally had to change almost every single thing in “Marvel Comic Book Lore“ in order to make this movie even remotely watchable. Rotten tomatoes and Google actually had to cheat by deleting comments, audience ratings, hide review videos by shadow banning, and change the algorithms so that only good reviews, good results, and good videos would pop up in a search. This movie single-handedly destroyed any faith anyone had in, not only comic book movie reviews, but movie reviews in general. If you have to remove tens of thousands of reviews in order to make the review rating the way you want it, then it’s not a good movie. And considering she had zero character growth and was far from likable… There’s a reason why they canceled her follow up movie. It’s because the backlash that the entirety of this movie caused. She was supposed to take over as THE leader of the avengers in upcoming phases… That’s not happening now due to the backlash. This movie was just pretty colors with a ridiculous misogynistic based plot. BTWs, the cat’s name in the comic books is actually Chewy, as in a Star Wars reference, but they had to change it to make it more Top Gun-y. The Skrull were only ever very bad guys. And the real Captain Marvel was actually Monica Rambo... a black woman, but Disney white washed it and demoted her to being a child. Oh, and her pilot callsign was never “avenger“. That was just to make her seem more important than and to make non-comic-fans, aka normies, disrespect Captain America, the way you did, so she could more easily take over. So yeah, I hate everything single thing about this movie, both on screen and off, as almost all comic book fans do. But I’m glad you had fun.
Watching your Marvel journey has been so fun. Can't wait for the rest in the future. I really hope EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE wins the poll. Even if it doesn't, You Gotta watch it sometime. Quite Honestly One of the Best Movies I've Ever seen. So Amazing in fact, As soon as I watched it, I went online and immediately bought it. BRILLIANT 💯✨✨🤯😭🤣🤣😵💫👊
When I saw this in the theater, I was so confused at first, because in Guardians of the Galaxy, the Kree were the bad guys. Djimon (forgot his character's name) teaming up with "Vers" really through me for a loop, because he was a bad guy. I finally decided that it must have just been some of the Kree who went bad and Djimon wound up on that side. Should have at least considered that maybe the Skrulls were the good guys all along- but they did make them seem extra sneaky and suspicious. The main Skrull casually slurping down a soda in Marie's living room will never not be funny to me. Goose was also cathartic to me at that time. I had an orange baby who looked a lot like him and my sweet orange boy had died a few months before this movie came out. I loved seeing Goose's adventures throughout. (Even if Nick wasn't happy with all of his actions) P.S. After Endgame- stick with the Marvel Universe. The movies aren't quite as awesome now that this main Thanos phase is done. But there's still awesome stuff that ties in with these movies. Check out WandaVision sometime. I won't spoil it, except to say, you will recognize some familiar faces that you've met on this Marathon so far.
I'd forgotten how good this movie is, so thank you for the reaction video! Also, you may or may not be delighted to learn that Goose Funko Pops exist. And yes, that's plural; they made three different versions. Speaking of delighted, I actually clapped a little over the fact that you know who Fonzie is.
This is my second favorite Marvel movie, behind Ragnarok. I'm super-glad you got the point of Carol not fighting "fair" in her last fight with Jude Law.
Yeah, too many people complain about that like it’s lazy. They don’t get the point of it, clearly. This whole “I must best you in fair combat or I’m not a real winner” stuff is old school action hero nonsense. They haven’t played fair since they abducted her. She owes them nothing.
Kree, Blue Guys- they actually showed you the bad guy from The Guardians first movie- Ronin the Accuser. Skrulls- the shape-shifters, are not purely good guys. Both races have their conflicts with Earth.
"Mother Flerken!" that's what I say now when I'm around people I don't want to swear in front of lol. To answer your question tho... Of the people on the short list of "Potential Avengers" before the Initiative actually formed, which keep in mind was for the protection of Earth, and thus that short list would have just been people from Earth, Steve was born and active first. So he was in fact the First Avenger, and even fighting against Hydra at that. 1500-year-old(?) Thor wouldn't count because 1: he's not from Earth, he was a Prince and future King of another realm so had responsibilities there and 2: he was a complete unknown when Fury was formulating his proposal for the Avengers Initiative, and 3: even when Thor met Coulson, he left Earth shortly after so all three of those reasons mean there was no reason for Fury to have his name on the list of initial potentials. Whereas, Cap was avenging back in WW2 (and who knows how long SHIELD had him before thawing him out), thus, the first Avenger 😛
There were some other characters that had shown up in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie... so to clarify, Ronan was one of the backup guys who was like... I don't want to catch her hands... he was the dude quill had a dance off with. He had an arrangement with Thanos that he decided to go back on in GotG. Also, one of the kree strike force members was the dude in the beginning of GotG that tried to capture Quill... and worked for Ronan. He died by the hands of Drax pulling a computer out of his head, then Drax said something like... Finger to the throat means death.
Talos is so good in this, Ben Mendelsohn is a treasure. I don't think this movie holds up to the other Phase 3 projects but it still has a lot to like.
No. Captain America was more than just an experiment. He was a wartime hero and symbol. He saved hundreds (if not thousands) of soldiers during WWII, and defeated WWII Hydra, sacrificing himself in the process. Remember after Steve’s sacrifice they showed children playing in the streets having paired trash can lids to resemble his shield. Steve Rogers was an inspiration and hero to the nation for generations before he was thawed. Even with Carol and Steve eventually becoming Avengers, Steve was first. You’re awesome, Ash. :-)
@@CrowTRobot Well, obviously Cap got his powers first, but he wasn't an Avengers back in the 40s. When it comes to the first people that are actually members of the team, that's probably Black Widow and Hawkeye.
