I couldn't agree with you more I love Andre braugher as Captain Holt he is awesome and how he yelled the dog's name and threatened everyone telling how he's going to neuter everybody if cheddar wasn't returned to him I thought that was absolutely hilarious although I was a bit hurt that he insulted the dog that he had with him calling him an idiot obviously the dog has potential for him to be loyal and obedient enough to follow him and not run away and listen to his commands to sit he could easily be taught to handshake just like cheddar as well as be a best friend to his dog! Lol

Personally I feel why the subject matter was the handled well the topic was way too serious and the humor that was in the episode felt misplaced and awkward. A better example would be the Diaz bi reveal imo. Serious topic but not too complex where a joke can derail the narrative and mess up the tone.

Misscellanio That was a good one too. Very casual. It’s hard to make racial discrimination “ha ha” funny but I think considering the circumstances, it was handled well.

Misscellanio personally i feel like the matter of rosa being bisexual was also important and could also be considered complex, and could DEFINITELY have been derailed by a misplaced joked. that being said, it is a lot harder to handle racial discrimination in a more lighthearted tone, and all things considered they’ve done an excellent job

@@brikinser4487 It was important but not very complex. Parents weren't accepting of her being bi, and of course she wanted to be open with her parents about it. The episode other episode had Terry dealing with racial discrimination, Holt explaining why he wouldn't help Terry, etc. etc. Dealing with race and societal change; So many issues and facets opened up where it's important to convey a coherent message/explanation and every time they told a joke or most of the time, it felt like "hey this important, why are is there a joke, it's killing the mood." Rosa's episode could've been derailed with some off color joke you're right, but it wasn't, and I guess I wasn't expecting it to mainly because of how respectful the show has been with Holt in the past. My point is that episode was written well, good jokes, and good handling of a serious topic, while the other was not written as well. I think they did an ok job.

Boyle winning the "Holt Off" may seem random but it makes sense if you think about it. While everyone there knows Holt, Boyle is the one who's a food expert and as such he would know best how someone who tries a Marshmallow for the very first time might react. Also, Holt participating in the bet about Amy being late makes sense too because of his gambling addiction.

I remember Andre Braugher as the intense Baltimore Detective from Homicde: Life on the Streets. He is perfect as Holt. Who else could drop "This bitch...please" in that chilling tone then threaten to neuter his dog's kidnapper. A comedy bit, yes, but also a chilling promise. I love this show.

Fun fact: 2:48 Audre was really trying to hold in his laughter when the entire cast was smiling and looking at him so they told him to let it go at the last line during that part to make it sound like Holt was actually force laughing since he never laughs. It was very hard for the crew to not laugh during that time.

I really love how, when Holt does emote, he does it strongly and, at times, irrationally (see: the entire episode where he's recovering from being denied commissioner position). Not only does it contrast so well with his normal personality, it implies he has a really hard time processing his own emotions- which is a really cool and fitting trait to write him with. Also, beside the focus, but it's cute how Jake reflexively said "bless you" when Amy sneezed despite it being over the security cameras.

This show has the perfect 🏳️‍🌈 representation. Holt and Rosa are the complete opposite of 🏳️‍🌈 stereotypes and are both almost completely emotionally shut off but are still filled with pride about their sexuality.

Love the note from the first clip, such a familiar note for a married couple lol. I love their weird little way how Kevin and holt are with their familiar side of things or how a handshake is concerned PDA etc. but it fits them well so it works and ends up funny every time.

Barely started watching Brooklyn Nine Nine this past week after putting it off for a long time. I'm not much of a TV series kinda guy unless it's something I already love but this show is becoming a favorite along with parks and rec, the office, that 70s show. Watching these compilations make me excited to see there's many hilarious moments I've yet to see. I'm almost on season 3.
