We can afford new vehicles but we refuse to pay these exorbitant prices for new trucks and SUVs on principle. Especially since so many of the new models coming out are of questionable quality.

ran my mazda pick-up 4cyl 4 speed from 1978-2008 ..448500 miles , org clutch. rear brakes, .. was all rusted sold it for $350 still running

My car is a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage, manual trans, still running great at 233K miles. She's been in Florida the whole time, a little rust from living near the gulf, which I've grinded and bondo'ed along the way. As long as she keeps going, I'll drive her 30 more years. I pray my odometer reaches your Mazda's!

Trading in my Mazda Tribute 2008 for 1.8k on a new CX50 Select. I'm sad, thing has 104k miles on it but it's getting the point that its more expensive to repair the car versus just getting a new one.

You get a ticket for driving and texting on your phone, though I see cops everywhere doing it. But its okay to concentrate on a screen where you can read a map while driving 75 mph. Its legal because it came with the car, but since the phone is a personal device, dont you dare touch it. The phones AND all these screens should be better regulated. My wife refuses to drive the neighbors car because of all the distractions, and takes her shopping in her car every time.

I live in a 60 year old house with original stove and wall mount oven made by Crosley. Both work fine and I’ll keep them for as long as they work. House has been updated, but mostly the same as new. Love the place!

I just graduated from pikes peak state studying automotive technology. They focused on modern tech and electrical diagnostics so we can be driveability techs and make some good money. Problem is I landed a job at Sonoma raceway building vintage race cars from the 60’s and older. Now I’m going back in time to learn old tech. If you’re going to a car school, it’s important to learn old and new technology cause you never know where you’ll end up. Benefit is I can diagnose the entire electrical system on a 1968 mini in about 10 min.

Still got my Nissan Pulsar 02 1.8 ltr manual gearbox 209,000 klms put some injector cleaner in a full tank of fuel & it is going better now ,I do not care what it looks like it is still a very good vehicle (22 years old.)no oil leaks just put coil overs o it & it handles better only cost$ 360 aud for all four needless to say I am keeping it till it will not pass registration inspection.

Our electric company had a sizable storage battery substation that would take the excess power and put it away for when it was needed later. It worked very well. It was the established technology. Just like any other EV, they exploded, caught fire and burned to the ground.

It is interesting that the brake fluid would cause a fire. DOT 4 brake fluid ignites at 1100-1200 degrees F. The hottest part of an operating engine is the exhaust manifold which normally only gets to about 700-1000 degrees F. Sure some high performance vehicles can have temperatures as high as 1200 degrees F, but a Murano is no screamer. I think the recall for the ABS was for an electrical short. Shorts can reach temperatures of 1800-3000 degrees F.

Maybe it was a Murano Hybrid and the Lithium Ion battery went into thermal runaway. It's smaller than the ones in a BEV so not as spectacular.

I have an 02 Lincoln LS V8 with 282k miles on the clock, along with a 2014 Lexus GS350 F Sport (2nd one, btw) with 114k on the clock. Other than the 09 Lexus GX 470 I'm looking to purchase cash (For the right price), manufacturers can keep these newer, high priced cars. ....I am 100% content with my 10 and 22 y/o cars. lol

My current daily driver is a 2003 Volvo S60 AWD with 253,000 miles on it (built in Belgium). I bought it in 2019 with 203,000 miles for $2200. Two prior owners took good care of it. Runs and drives like a champ... The most comfortable, safe and reliable vehicle I have enjoyed in the 30 years I've had a drivers license. I also have a 2002 Mazda Protege5, manual transmission with 262,000 miles (built in Japan). Runs and drives like a champ. And, lastly, a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4 (built in Pontiac Michigan). Regular cab, long bed, base model comercial pickup truck with the LQ4 6.0L gas engine and 4L80E transmission. Runs and drives like a champ. 232,000 miles on the truck and engine, but the transmission and T-case were replaced sometime before I bought it...expected for a GM 😂 Anyway, they're all just fine. I'm quite happy with them. I don't trust most any vehicle built in the last 10/15 years....and they're all ridiculously over priced and complicated.

true There are videos where people are so glued to their cell phone , they step right off the sidewalk and fall onto the road. Of course you get the people so glued to their cell phone that they walk right into a telephone pole. Also, many people walk in the road, even though the sidewalk is perfectly fine.

I have a 2007 Dodge Dakota quad cab w/a 4.7L. It is just getting ready to turn 93,000 miles. Still runs like a top. I have no intention of selling it. Needs new upholstery but that is about it. I quit using the Goodyear tires recommended for it because they just didn't last. Went with Michelin steel belted radials, it rides a little rougher, but at least I have peace od mind on the road. Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy them.

Those cars have a good mechanical track record but around these parts are prone to severe (mostly rocker panel) rust issues. There aren't many of them around for that reason.

Not in Toronto Canada. A Jeep rubicon X is still 95k?? They have the usual bug offer of 5k off for the last 5 years like they are doing you a big favor. On a vehicle that costs under 25k to build on mass production and these dealerships think people are stupid. If you don't have the cash to buy one don't be stupid and pay unless you get 15k off minimum

Scotty, you were spot on about dealership mechanic quality and how the mechanics keep getting paid less and less. I am a perfect example of this. I was a certified dealership mechanic for 10 years. I quit due to low pay. Decided to go to college, got a bachelors and masters degree in science. I make great money now. I loved working on cars. If I was compensated well, I would still be a mechanic now. The dealerships are incentivizing smart mechanics to leave the field and do something else.

In 2016 I bought a 2002 Prius for $1500. That car only needed 1 wheel bearing in all these years and it still runs great today with HUNDREDS of thousands of miles. Also, right before the pandemic, I bought a 2013 Prius for my wife with 170,000 miles for $5,000. That car is still running everyday without an issue. Havent put a penny in it other than tires and oil changes. Now that 2013 Prius would be close to a $15,000 car.

My 08 Yaris 1.5l is reg gas no hybrid and aside from starting is so quiet I’ve driven up to people walking and practically crawling behind them before I have to either tap horn or turn up radio Then they look and move! Some people aren’t observant or some gas cars are just that quiet!

My 2013 tundra has 104000 runs like a champ. Our 2011 camry 114000 runs and looks brand new. Just breaking in both. Should get at least 3-5 hundred thousand miles on both of them. And yes I keep up the maintenance on them. Do that and they will treat you right.

Got gas from the reservation stated 87 couple tanks later and I got engine lights coming on. Went back to regular gas station ran 87 light eventually went off. Noticed the warning in the car labeled run 87 or more only not 85.
