One of the best how tos I've seen. Getting ready for an install this weekend amd doing it with my 14 yo. Great video to explain the process better than I could.
This is so helpful! I've four sundown 8s and subdown 2000 watt amp, lc2i and harness for bose sitting in mybgarage for 1.5yrs because people wanted to charge me outrageously to install.
Very informative video if not the best, very detailed and in depth for newer gm trucks, I am about to install a sub for my dads 2020 silverado. This defintely clears up any questions and concerns I had for this specific make and model. Thank you very much Leaman!
I just installed a slim subwoofer in my '21 1500 AT4 Duramax and it was a hassle to run the power cable. Kudos for the engineers who figured out how to come up with most complicated battery removal process in the history of mankind. Not sure if it because mine is diesel, I didn't have space to squeeze my hand in order to pass the battery cable through the firewall without battery removal. Now after all the work, I am returning the slim sub since it is very weak. You can only feel it if you are in the back seat. Going to try a 6.5" bass tube since I don't want to lose the storage bin and also don't want to pay $700 for the Kicker OEM solution. An 8" bazooka would be too big to fit the storage bin.
and probably sound better. i have always used two 6.5" or one 8" bazookas in all of my trucks. i'm thinking about putting them in my 2022. i have been too lazy to tackle this. Another thing i would like to do is to tap into both front channels instead of one. I need to find the wiring colors for my non bose truck.
Finally an AWESOME VIDEO on how to install a sound system THANK YOU!!! What gauge is the power wire 4? Would 0 Gauge fit thru the slot in the fire wall well?
I ran 0 gauge today. I was having trouble, it might sound silly but I put a little Vaseline on it and fed it in until I could reach it from inside the cab.
You ran a speaker wire along the passeger channel to tap your audio line for your LC2, but isnt that signal already in the back right on the amp harness?
Would be nice if you made a video on how to wire the amp :/ New to all of this but I got most of it done , ran the power Thru firewall and have the fuse on the battery cover like you did but Im not sure how to tap in to the radio speaker cable ( can’t find the correct colors for my 2020 Silverado custom ) tried both passenger and driver side harness and I’m trying to figure out wiring the amp itself I got the Power and ground cable in but now I’m trying to figure out the rest.
Would you happen to know why my amp won’t shut off? I have it wired exactly the same as the video but the LC2 just stays powered on. There is a hum coming from the subs as well. I unhook the power and plug it back in and it’s off and then a close my door and the amp powers up again.
I got a 2024 silverado with bose pre installed and for the rubber grommet near battery terminal it doesn't have the accessory plug for me to feed through for positive. Any ideas?
You have the Bose system. You could have pulled the speaker input right off the factory amp on the back wall behind the seat. Would have had to pull and use less wires. Clean install 🤙🏼
I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 LD. I looked up the wiring online and want to make sure I have my wire taps going into the right spot. It says yellow and black for the front right speaker. This is a non Bose system.
if youre tapping into a speaker wire then aren't you tapping a signal that has already been amplified? It seems like you're amplifying an already amplified signal. Or does the factory amp only amplify the factory sub and not the doors?
I have this install the exact same way. But I don't like the sound. I can't figure out gain is all set. No clipping on any indicator. But the speakers sound like they raddle when being pushed. Everything is tight. Super frustrating on my 2024 trail boss
Kicker makes a cheaper version called the kisloc2 it has the auto sensing for the remote wire but you don’t have all the eq adjustments but it’s super small and will fit inside the channel too if you don’t want to have something as big as the lc2
Looking forward to listen how the bass sounds, like I said previously, I have a 2021 Tahoe High Country and would like to install a similar system? Where exactly would I find the color of the Bose speaker wires?
It’s gonna be the two braided wires inside the harness one plain and one with the black stripe I don’t have a Bose so mine is on the driver side and they are lime green and lime green with the black stripe
I have this set up on my 2022 Trailboss and need to know if there is something I can add to remove the bass from the front speakers and only come from the kicker base?
NOPE, THE HIGH AND LOW FOR NON BOSE ARE THE GREEN AND GREEN WITH BLACK STRIPE TWISTED TOGETHER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE JUST UNDER THE ROCKER COVER BEHIND THE FRONT SEAT BOLT AREA. THE LOOM IS IN THE MIDDLE WHERE IT GOES UNDER THE SEAT.
How are you going to have a stereo signal if you only tapped one sides speaker wire? You’re only going to amplify a mono signal and miss everything that would have been coming out of the other channel?
hey, great video.. I just installed a kicker hideaway powered sub in my 22 silverado. tapped into these two wires (yellow/black) but I got no sound from sub. Am I missing something?
You’re not getting sound bc that’s the wrong signal wires. Door speakers on a Bose system doesn’t play the low bass frequencies like the factory sub plays therefore you need to tap into facorty sub wires which is blue/grey and green/black on Bose amp
@432stinger you were 100% correct. Thanks a lot. I removed side panel to center console, located blue/green wires to factory sub for signal, and perfect! worked like a charm. Also, Kickers instructions are wrong and their tech support did not know the answers.
could really use some help. got the exact same truck and the Bose using an LC2i pro and the GTO will not turn either the amp or the lc2i on. I tapped into the yellow/yellow and black wires and I have speaker signal. I verified by switching the lc2i to "audio" turn on but it only stays on once and then shuts off and won't turn back on. Wondering what the deal is. don't want to have to run a remote wire.
@@edboy2784 I actually got the "audio" turn on setting to work. I was only using the right side of the speaker inputs and not both. Either the lc2i needs to get audio signal from both, or it needs it from the left side. So it works not. But the GTO will not work what so ever. Others have said they had to use a remote wire from the fuse panel.
@@edboy2784 I'm an idiot. So the left side is what is primarily used for the turn on signal. GTO does work and I have to use the left side of speaker inputs, not right side.
@@edboy2784 many videos like this one that show how to do it. I went on the passenger side and connected to the front door speaker. I will eventually try and hook it to the oem bose sub wires because i think the door speaker has a crossover in the lower frequencies. Its just a PITA to get to the sub wire.
@@deloreshaze I ended up using the bolt that holds the backseat down on the driver's side because I was in a rush. Later on I may go back to that area and I'll report the size
i have a '21 gmc sierra elevation WITHOUT Bose and im having trouble finding the right wires to tap into for the rca if anyone could help id be thankful
Sound Storm EV4.400 MY 4 CHANNEL AMP LOOKS LIKE THIS IN THE REAR 🧐🥴 (-/+) (-/+) (-/+) (-/+) HOW TO SET UP 4 6.5" SPEAKERS BRO WITH LOUDEST PERFORMANCE. CAN YOU MAKE ME A DIAGRAM USING (RED ♥️/BLACK 🖤) SYMBOLS, INSTEAD OF (+/-). No subwoofers
IF YOU HAVE A BOSE SYSTEM, DO NOT CATCH THE YELLOW/YELLOW-BLACK. Those are the wrong signal wires. You need to catch factory sub signal which is blue/gray + and then green/black is negative(at Bose amp behind rear seat on back wall). I am certified installed and someone sent me this video after not getting the right sound
The OEM kicker sub GM offers has directions that state to tap into the yellow & yellow/black wires. I’m adding a subwoofer soon. Which wires do I do……?
@@joshuaplace9095 if you have Bose system it’ll be the blue/grey & green/black wires at the amp on back wall, if not the wires you said are fine to tap into
@@432stinger3 thank you for the input. Helps out a lot. Thinking about getting a T harness to plug directly into the bose amp. Would I be covered and okay to pursue this route without problems. I don’t believe the 23s have ANC
@432stinger3 I have a 21 silverado non-bose. I was thinking about doing the Fix86 from Jlaudio to give me a clean signal into the vxi amps. Will that work or should I go a different route? Thanks
I was going to ask the same question. I was curious if tapping into the front speakers means that you will hear treble or voices through the subs more. Maybe it’s a silly question for me. But good question from you
@@Lerchcon i tapped the front speakers for aftermarket mids and it amplified the door chime. At the same time i got a bad high pitch like an alternator pitch that i cant stil get rid of. I changed the ground to another place and still cannot get rid of it. So i just unhooked the mid speakers and just tapped the sub to the rear speakers. The rear speakers have less volume from the front ones that i know on the 2019 and up.
Anyone with a smidgen of car audio knowledge knows this guy is completely wrong, you don’t run your power and signal wires down the same side of truck, passenger side traditionally used for signal/speaker wires and driver side used for power wires, to maximize noise interference, there a grommet under the steering column that’s ideal for your power wire to pass through the fire wall
