I don't know why it took me until 2021 to get to Teens of Style. Will has written so many masterpieces, holy fuck. I am having an out of body experience hearing the chorus. This song is on another level entirely.
That's the beauty of music, and art in general. The first time you hear a particular band, or see a painting, or watch film - that experience will always be new and unique to you.
When I first heard this song it blew my mind, especially the last two minutes of the song. Those last two minutes are absolutely hypnotizing. An amazing amazing composition for such a young musician, especially since he wrote the original version years ago. I only dream about composing such amazing stuff.
Everytime I listen to this song I think of the "We've all had better times to die" as a reference that we should just keep living and stop thinking of suicide as an option, like when hey said "The things you see inside your head, you better make other plans instead" in Hey, Space Cadet It's sad to hear it but it's true, we already had better times to die, so let's just carry on
I cant believe these guys aint popular in the mainstream scene, Will writing plus his choruses are one of the catchiest chrous i've ever heard in the indie scene
Found Car Seat Headrest by luck, and it quickly became one of my favorite bands. Such amazing storytelling put into every one of their songs. I admire their work so much and hope to see them receive more recognition.
Same here. I usually don't bother to listen to new artist. But csh showed up on my feed, it was beach life in death, and for some reason, i decided to listen to it. I've been a fan ever since
+Joseph Sedita i have a black woman dancing next to me so that makes me better than anyone on the planet jk i suck at livcing life hahahahahahahahaahah
Art is by Max Wedner! The guy has some really beautiful, disturbing, psychedelic art. Wish Toleda had him do some of the other cover arts -- Teens of Style is my favorite album cover of CHS's by far.
“art gets what it wants and art gets what it deserves”, sung to the tune of the chorus from nervous young inhuman. an interesting reference considering the re-recording of twin fantasy wasn’t even a thought in anyone’s head when this album was released
the re-recording of twin fantasy was actually something will brought up when signing to matador, so while recording this album he definitely must have had it in the back of his mind. also read above lmao.
in context of this song being in Monomania, i think Will sings "but art gets what it wants, and art gets what it deserves" on a sarcastic tone, because everyone around him is moving on and he's standing there, frozen and full of hatred, dealing with the breakup in Twin Fantasy, pitching the blame on his ex for making him feel stuck in place while dealing with the breakup plus transitioning to adulthood, but maybe it's a stretch and i'm being silly
woah I used to love this song (still do) and listen to it non stop like a year or so ago and I listening to it now it has a completely different meaning to me now... I'm sobbing
I feel like flower in forest. My eye come together and see my nose, it look big nose. I breath with nose and notice something blocking airflow. Must be a booger. I check with my finger and pull out green happiness. This song sings to me.
+Kübra Kaymak I think its more like dream pop, you might want to check out other good bands like sleep party people, funeral suits and beach house, they are all good :)
all of my friends are getting married and all of my friends are right with god all of my friends are making money but art gets what wants and art gets what it deserves
Arturo Torres I believe it's a division in cultural and subcultural tastes which separates the grain from the chaff , you and your love for the song being the grain of course .
wow here I am again. this came to mind. Ecc 3::1-8 Mtt 24:37-39 Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him . I have a playlist on my channel Music for Harp & Horn
+J.R. Bennett Maybe he means heaven. From how I see it, he's sort of inviting these people who've found the right time to die to face the council of elders, or in this case God or whoever you believe, to be judged whether you'll be admitted into whatever is next.
+Matthew Comeau okay like a judgement. That makes sense. I assumed something to do with heaven since he just talked about reaching it, but I didn't know if there was some specific religious reference I was missing.
+J.R. Bennett Some of the lyrics goes "Oh and then they listened to his demos", "they say kid you're good but do you have what it takes to be invited into the divine council?" I think he refers big music companies / being signed by a record label as being "invited to the divine council"
+gay dog ohhh that's makes more sense to me. I felt like what I was hearing seemed too up front so I figured there had to be something deeper to it. And the idea maybe of leaving his music scene he's in now to have more success is possibly what he's saying later.
