@@davidkassube988 it might be similar for an intrepid or stratus or other mopars of this era the 1st gen viper was a really well disguised pile of parts bin peices and I'm willing to bet even if the parts aren't the same the general design of build is.
I could watch the wizard every day. Calm, methodical diagnosis. You can tell that this man knows what he is doing. Thanks so much David for starting your own channel. I really enjoy watching your videos.
The Wizards videos have got better. He’s more comfortable with the camera and has good tips for the average person. Plus he’s just a nice person you can tell.
Great work Dave. I was the one that recommended John with the Bentley Supersports to come see you. Glad you took care of him. He called me, telling me how happy he was that I had told him about you, and that you are his hero.
2nd gen viper roadster is the best. You get the beautiful clean lines of the first gen, but with added fancy creature comforts like, side windows... and door handles!
I work as an automotive apprentice in Ontario Canada and it would honestly be a dream to learn from you and work in the same facility. I love these videos you're making it almost feels like I'm there taking In all the greatness we now know as "the car wizard" thanks David. You're the man.
I appreciate the Car Wizard's laid back style. I wish I could have worked with a mechanic like the Car Wizard back in my dealership days. Thanks for sharing!
I love how you do things like place the mic up to the leak so we can hear what your diagnosing. As someone who is learning to fix cars as s hobby/save money, your videos are fantastic tools to learn.
Excellent diagnostic video, well filmed and thoughtfully explained to where the average DIYer could duplicate your tests. Thanks Car Wizard! I can see why Tyler trusts you implicitly!
Great video!! Only one thing I'd like to mention (I own a 98 Viper R/T): You should NOT close the hood by pressing it down at the front end. This might result in cracks in the hood in that area. Instead, one should press it down where the hood is mounted to the hinges underneath. This is a little above the NACA duct. I also think, that the hood latches at the door need to be adjusted. It is unusual, that they are not fully disengaged once you lift the hood at the front (befor you open it completely from the windshield side). But awesome video and explanations!!
Thank you David. My sons and I watch and I tell them you are everything a real professional Tech is, a troubleshooter! Well done, one of the best channels on RU-vid. Merry Christmas
A little bit of intake cleaner sprayed at the leak area will also let you diagnose if you don’t have access to the smoke machine. When it’s sprayed on the leak with the engine running the idle will change.
Entertaining videos that teach. Nice job. As an experienced shade tree mechanic who does not own many of the diagnostics tools, its nice to see what they are and how they work.
Thanks for going the extra step of setting up the microphone so we could hear the exhaust leak, that was very interesting! Re: parts availability, in my opinion that is the #1 detriment to working on old cars. In the USA, manufacturers only have to stock spare parts for 10 years after each model year.
Wow this channel has improved beyond belief. I remember watching your recommended tools video, and i thought the smoke machine was a bit OTT. I stand corrected!
I love you were nice and easy tone when you explain things to people who are watching your channel and find you to be an amazing guy able to fix just about any automotive problem. I wish you were in California or I wish I could get my BMW three series over to you because I know it would be in good hands
This is awesome! Diagnosis is the hardest part of being a mechanic for sure. Interesting on the limited parts availability too on Vipers. I would not have thought that would be an issue.
Yeah. Works great to diagnose emission leaks for those damn check engine emission codes. Hook it up fill the system with smoke, if it's just a gas cap the smoke will leak out the cap, charcoal canister wherever.
Loved the video! I sold my '86 BMW 635CSI years ago due to the wait times to get parts... so I appreciate the fact that you point this issue out on the Viper. Great content... I like the fact that you show your troubleshooting in depth. I hope others find your channel and can appreciate the content as well.
Mr. Wizard, i hear ya breathin' kinda heavy in the video, take care of yourself, man, mechanics with your talent and honesty are not what you would call "ubiquitous"...
nice to watch a real mechanic. where i live they don't diagnose any problems. they just keep replacing parts till they fix it and of course charge me for all the parts i did not need. then they unhook a vacuum line or an electric connection so they try to get me back and speed more money.
Really liked this video.... At first I was like ehhh. This will be boring. But you got to the important stuff and made it interesting... Loved the wizard tools and adding the mic to listen to the leak.
Wizard, just wanted to say that you have become greatly accustomed to doing these videos in just a short amount of time since your first video. I seriously cannot wait to watch each and every new video that you put it. Thy are such a de-stresser and it is awesome. You sir are the Bob Ross of Car Wizardry. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and keep making these videos!!
Great diagnosis I wonder how many shops do that? Most just tell u that they have to replace all coils, plugs and wires due to age. Then when it doesn’t work they actually start looking into it.
Great Video! i really appreciate that you share your knowledge and i can learn a lot from it. I am a mechanic myself but we do mostly tire changes or oil changes...
Great to see those side-mirror tips, same mirrors used on the 3000GT/Stealth if you didn't know! Cheap used common replacement mirrors, heated mirror option usually on the TT 3/S cars.
I own a Gen 1 viper, this is a Gen 2 viper. But thank you for the videos on Vipers. Very useful :) I've been buying up spare parts as I can find them since I agree, its hard to find parts :-P
