That homerun should've been fan interference too. Glad our offense did so much that it didn't matter but the fan literally interfere with O'Neil. He was gonna catch that if the fan didnt interfere
The rules are a bit fuzzy on that. If, in the opinion of the umpires, the ball’s trajectory will land in the stands, then the fans may touch the ball even if it interferes with a player’s attempt to field the ball. The rationale is that the fans has just as much right to a ball hit in the stands as a player does, and that an umpire should be very reluctant to assume a player will catch a ball that will land in the stands if no one touches it. The only exception to that might be if you have a very short fence, like right field in Fenway or left field in Dodger Stadium where outfielders can run to the wall(s), stand flat-footed and catch a catch a ball that would be a home run if they failed to touch it. But just about anytime a player has to jump for a ball headed for the stands, the umpires will not call fan interference.
@@AV57 damn, just another loophole in a rule that is subjective to umpires opinions. I mean it didn't matter anyways but in a close game something like that shouldn't determine the outcome of the game. I truly think if the fan wasn't there O'Neil would've caught it. Hmmm I guess if it were is hitting the home run id be glad that is the rule. Hmmm
That's the most obvious fan interference in recent times. Why do they have the rule if they aren't going to enforce it? And the fan should have been ejected? 😂 wow
He is the Arozarena,Garcia,Gallen,Alcantara talent we have gotten rid of lately. Don’t be surprised if we do sadly. Also, play him every day. The lineup I saw game 2 was the best lineup I saw All year on paper. Oh yeah, the guy we paid 88 million for played that game as catcher as well. He is not yadi. But, give him a little longer to learn the staff… Give him one more year… He is still better than what we have especially offensively!
At 8:08 that fan that catches the ball caused interference. When you slo-mo, it seems quite apparent that O'neil would have caught it. Perfectly positioned, and right where a pro knows he needs to be. That umpire's call was a fail. Slow it down, see it and then decide. Pause, then use '' to move frame by frame. Even if you see it differently, that's a cool shortcut keys tip.
I'm rly bummed this could be Jack's last start with the cards. I absolutely love him and even though he sometimes has his rough starts, he is just an overall gifted guy who is super fun to watch. Hopefully he does good for his future team if we don't keep him!
@@CWE_Edits Honestly, I really like him too, but yeah i agree that we need some better pitchers. Monty is good but we need to trade away Monty and DeJong as well as maybe Carlson for one amazing pitcher like Gallen or Strider (Not that we could get them)
We have to score 10+ to have a chance most games 🤦♂️ Get us some pitching! Especially relief pitching. Also, don’t get rid of Montgomery like we did Quintana. That could have been our one two punch even with quintana hurt some…
Nice win for the Redbirds but once again Oli has no clue when it comes to his pitchers. Brining in a guy who has an ERA over 13 to close it out? He almost blew it.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION AND SERIES WIN !!! Folks, it's NO SURPRISE that Manager of the Year Oliver Jose Marmol and his St. Louis Cardinals (the GREATEST team in the league) are the HOTTEST since the All-Star Break. They are going 105-57, TAKING the NL Central, MAKING the postseason once more and in three/four months (depending on when the games are in October/November), RAISING that TWELFTH World Series championship! Nolan Brian Gorman, SUPERSTAR MODE ! In the top of the second inning, the 23-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona gets the offense rolling by DEMOLISHING a bomb to right center field. In the top of the third inning, Brendan Michael Donovan is LIGHTNING FAST ... the 26-year-old from Würzburg, Germany scores on a GOOD OL' wild pitch! In the top of the sixth inning, Lars Taylor-Tatsuji Nootbaar, the 25-year-old from El Segundo, California, OBLITERATES a ball to center field! What a STATEMENT made in that top of the seventh inning! First, TRUE catcher Andrew Robert Knizner, the 28-year-old from Glen Allen, Virginia, SMASHES an RBI single to right field, driving in Paul Sterling DeJong. Then, co-Most Valuable Player of the League, Paul Edward Goldschmidt, the 35-year-old from Wilmington, Delaware, LAUNCHES A NUKE to left field, bringing in Andy! Center fielder Dylan James Carlson, WOW !!!!! In the bottom of the seventh inning, he makes the #SCTOP10 catch. That PROVES the STL is not only the best offensively, but defensively, too! A BONE-CHILLING top of the eighth inning, one I'll remember FONDLY ... To kick it off, Nolan Brian Gorman stays SCORCHING with a ROCKET to center field, sending Tyler Alan O'Neill to the plate! Shortly after, Andrew Robert Knizner WALLOPS one to left field to drive in Paul Sterling DeJong. Lastly, Lars Taylor-Tatsuji Nootbaar PUMMELS an RBI single to center field to bring in Brendan Michael Donovan! Peeps, give a STANDING OVATION to Cap'n Jack Rafe Flaherty! The 27-year-old from Burbank, California with a JAW-DROPPING afternoon on that mound. BIG SHOUTOUT goes to Neil Andre Pallante, Giovanny Gallegos and Andrew Jose Suárez, all part of the best bullpen in the league, for the SWARMING defense! TIME TO FLY !!!!!!! #12in23
We are shaping up to be 1 hell of a ballclub, series v Marlins, Diamondbacks, would've been a split or more at Wrigleycheatersville, I mean when u have to steal strikes from our studs but then give strikes to thier pitchers...it's screwed. My gosh 30foot wall at 407..Jack got some support baby...that home run was fan interference and they couldn't see that? Ridiculous. Don't tell anyone but Oli is breaking puberty finally. Hey. I believe. U believe. Now if we can stay together and work hard..I'm all for it. We need you men for now and next year. Monty, Jack, u better not trade Hicks either. Hell yes they want our men, our hitters, our dirt divers, if we had 1 more stud hitter..say a Mets Mcniel batting champ 22...we have the dynamic of a possible WS run. I'd pick up an Ace regardless of the equation of this year and sign 2yrs. With Jack an Monty on 2 yr contracts. We have a team. Surely we can go for it this year although the central has 3 teams in it that are all in it. We being the 4th in this race..hey..we keep winning at 666 rate. Or better..sweep these central teams..it might come down to the last week of the season. I really like the fight I'm seeing. Ok..don't be going up to homer since you hit a few this series. Just let it happen..nice return Tyler. Use that forward press they teach in golf but do it in reverse, it will shave a nanosecond off reaction times. We are playing great ball...pick each other up and be teammates all in..let's see how dam good we are if mgmt keeps us all..hell I might even say keep oli. Lol
