There are quite a few cards that were in Hearthstone at some point but then got removed not too long after their creation. On the Gamepedia page for Hearthstone there is a list of all the card concepts that were thought about in the alpha and beta of Hearthstone and we are going over all of them today

While we were playing this Wild Hearthstone Deck and had a win rate that could have been better, we figured out that Hearthstone Decks in 2020 might be what you expect, broken Decks that can get you to legend easily. Being a Hearthstone Legendary rank makes your best deck even more interesting and fun because after Darkm oon Faire a lot of random effects on minions and spells came to the game of Hearthstone

If you've played WoW most of the flavor fits with the classes and lore. Even some art, although odd for hearthstone, fits WoW.

You should make a Part 2 of this. There are more unused cards on the same page you were looking at, like early version of Lackeys called "Zugs", or many (and I mean MANY) cards for Naxx.

I remember devs said they wanted scrap reaver to be in game but they added solarium instead because some minions like *cough* voidlord *cough* would be too OP as a 3 mana 9/9 taunt.

Actually, this is a misconception. Plenty of Chinese games have bones. It's just self-cnsrship on the Westerners' part because they are afraid they'd get bullied out of the Chinese market. I.e., it's a tool to scare Western companies into submission. - Adûnâi

Many of thoses cards would have been broken in old set, but now, some of them just feel "Ok" The draw 2 on rogue by combo would be realy stronger than Secret passage, Arcane blast Draw Would be strong to, but not broken Anyway when you look, some cards just "dont fit"

i've heard that the ghostly keyword initially was "at the end of your turn discard this card if it is in your hand", then they chose the proto militia commander as a blueprint for echo

i remember when a dev from hearthstone did a Q&A and one of the questions was “if they created idea cards that never got threw?” he answered yes and said this “i had a cool idea for a minion where he has a battlecry: gain +1/+1 for each game you loss...” he said it would be cool to losses a bunch of games and create a big minion but it never got threw. i think he was talking about Devouring ooz unless he didnt know that card was made but was removed.

@@dawnevergarden3275 It's literally the same set up... Play X battlecry + Infinite Shudder combo + Hope you get the correct BC order. The only difference is what cancerous thing you're doing with that "X Battlecry"... Be it playing a billion animations, gaining a billion armour or just pew pewing face. If anything, Gnomenapper combo would be harder to mess with opponents turns with, simply because YOU have to also pick a minion each time the BC activates (Which can actually break your infinite Shudder combo by filling your hand up with non-Shudderwock cards)

i actualy REMEMBER that Fade priest card. Dunno where i saw it originaly, i think it was in sneak peak of class cards on the first hearthstone website blizz ever made and i remember reading somewhere that "people werent interested in it (as the web and game, not the card) at all". Ohh such innocent times

I remember during an interview they talked about what I believe the ghostly keyword meant. When you drew or got a copy of a ghostly card you had a single turn to play it or it would be discarded. Also Solem's interpretation of the old Kangor is correct, it was intended to attach to a mech and then copy that mech. Devs said they'd changed it as it was confusing to players how the battlecry/magnetic keyword interacted with one another. Also fun fact per the devs Electra Stormsurge's change was not a nerf. They said they disliked the older version and after playtesting they found the cheaper Electra could be combo'd a lot easier into more damaging effects. So in a way by changing the card they claimed it wound up buffed.

Hidden Passage doesn't add them, it temporarily adds them. And while that's usually better, coin double adrenaline rush is some *serious* deck thinning, almost tracking on steroids.

Great ideia for a video, another one you could do is the card changes page in the hearthstone wikia (nerfs for the most part), would the old version of the cards see play today in wild?

My friend and I printed out cards when the game was announced. We had a priest and a druid and most of the cards wore either completely useless or busted. Much fun.

I remember Team5 saying somewhere that they left Death Wish out because it enabled a Warrior archetype that did nothing except gain armor and remove the board without interacting. Never mind that Odd Warrior thing that happened later. And general Wallet Warrior stuff.

Gnomenapper's discover effect would work fine if your discover phase happened at the start of your own turn, before draw. That said, if it worked that way then it'd become a way to combo into Nozdormu's effect

The art of Omireaper is from a trinket in naxxramas 25 saphiron "Bandit's Insignia" it was pretty bad. pretty sure the same art was used on other wow items during that time aswell.

Much of the artwork comes from the retired World of Warcraft TCG (which was amazing btw). The ARtwork you said doesn't fit Hearthstone seems to be one by Jonboy Myers, one of the most recognizable artists of the TCG. Sadly it went under to make room for Hearthstone. Hey Solem, make a video about Hearthstones predecessor one day, your audience will love it!

Ghostly keyword wasn't exactly echo, it just means if you don't play it, it vanishes from your hand at the end of your turn. It's just that if your battle cry is "add a ghostly version of that card to your hand", then that, specifically, is effectively identical to Echo. So the Ghost card was a 1 mana 2/2 which had to be played the turn you draw it or you lose it. Kind of a neat concept imo.

Love that a lot of these, like the Darkspear Hunter, have a Strategy run-down on their Wiki page. People love their theorycrafting. Also, I don't think Darkspear is a bad card, not at the time. Unnerfed Starving Buzzard enabled Play Beast swarm and was broken enough to need a nerf without Darkspear in the game.

ghostly means it's discarded at the end of your turn, so you can only play it the turn you draw it

1 mana draw a card would be really strong for activating combos in rogue. If you add combo: draw 2 it gets completely broken I think. Cards that make you draw 2 normally cost 3 mana

Friendly reminder that Pot of Greed in Yugi and Ancestral Recall in MTG are some of the most powerful cards in their respective games, cheap card advantage is absolutely overpowered and we do not need to see a "1 mana draw 2" in hearthstone, especially in a combo class lol, Adrenaline Rush would be absolutely nuts. As for Secret Passage, we all know it's broken, but you don't get to keep the cards at end of turn, making it's ideal time to play it like turn 5-10.

i think the gnomenapper would work if it did your opponents version on the start of their turn so the could would read... *Battlecry: Discover* a minion. at the start of their turn, your opponent guesses your choice. when successful they receive it as well. that may be a little wordy and im sure there is a way to trim it down but i think that it would add some skill to the card because if you play the minion you discovered the turn you discovered it, it would tell which minion you chose and be able to get a copy as well or your opponent can guess naturally. because a 5 mana 5/5 discover a minion for your opponent is pretty trash, i think it would be fair to reduce its cost to 4 mana and lower the attack to make it a 4/5. over statted (at the time) with a slight downside would actually make this card very interesting to have in hearthstone

Demoralizing Roar and to a lesser degree Death Wish is trying to emulate what the skill for warrior does in WoW. that is, it reduces enemies base attack; tank druids had roar and warriors had shout; no idea why a druid ability is being slapped into warrior, maybe a holdover from a smaller hero pool? and Death wish gave you 100% critical rate but made you significantly more fragile. Demo roar would be an interesting card to capitalize on multi attack weapons.

I think there even was a similar video about Kobolds and Catacombs and those cards weren't even shown here. UPD: Yes, there were a few cards that didn't make it in the official video about spellstones.

Oldtown Beggar isn't 'just' a Nat Pagle. It's a Common. You could have all of them in one deck. It'd be like a full combined 100% chance to draw. I know, I'm making lots of comments on an old video.

I think Ghostly might've been more interesting than Echo. It's a 1 mana 2/2 Neutral, that's too powerful for Witchwood's time. My guess is that Ghostly was going to be some sort of minor downside. Could be that it was just 1 mana for ease of testing the Echo mechanic, though. But that does imply that they take 'measures' to test 'things'. Hmm.

I learnt how to play guitar a year ago Not trying to plug his channel, but Justin guitar has the best online free teaching. Has a full beginners course set of videoes, with books you can also buy too work along with (or just use the website for the same experience). Without sounding like an ad, he makes learning guitar fun. From his *bad* singing to general fun attitude. Plz don’t remove, not ad, actual recommendation.

Don't know why they removed mana spring totem. With knife jugglers and brewmasters, an ideal example of a combo that blizzard calls "fun and interactive" would arise...

Comparing adrenaline rush with secret passage isn't the same thing. Drawing and replacing is kinda different. 1 Mana draw or combo draw 2 is pretty decent
