Thanks for the informative clip. Do you recommend (or have you also had experience with) using a deer bone to help remove scuffs? My Alden long-wings in colour 8 have a few rain-spots on the vamp just above the wing-tip design, which don't seem to remove when buffed with a horsehair brush. I think I should buy some of this venetian creme and burgundy polish. Right now I only have natural coloured polish that I'm apprehensive to use on shell. Thanks.
when there's water spots on my shell cordovan shoes, I always use a wet rag to clean up those spot, then venetian shoe cream (I like neutral) to clean and condition in one step, or if you want something very high end and the best - Saphir Cordovan (burgundy color) The deer bone is a great way to smooth out the folds and a bit of scuffs too
I now do what you are demonstrating. However, I do have a pair of Florsheim Kenmore shell cordovan plain toe blucher oxfords that I foolishly (I wish your tutorials where around in my day) kept applying cordo or black Kiwi or Lincoln wax polishes. I would like to strip them down to bring back the eggplant color and luster depth you can only get in a shell cordovan. Any suggestions?
Your reviews on thorough cleaning shells have helped immensely! My 40 year old Florsheim shell PTB are looking great. I'm going to keep using Saphir renovator and Venetian creme from now on! Thanks.
+Manny Bamberg I imagine that is wax that is being squeezed out of the pores of the shoes, where they roll and crease. Try a damp rag and brush, that usually does it for me. If that isn’t it, Try moisturizing.
