Rare Gold Fastest Test 100 by Hooper. He hit 15 Fours and 3 Sixes. Smashing Wasim, Waqar, Mushtaq, Azhar and Saqlain. One of the Best TEST hundred of all time.
agreed. He and Ritchie Richardson were far better cricketers than their records tell us. If WI had not lost that semi final against Australia after being in a winning position history would have judged them differently. Both were very good players. Hooper in particular was a great batsman had the technique and also could play very attackingly when he wanted to.
Agreed He was pure class..but the stats ALSO tell the story.... of a career of underachievement. The problem wasn't lack of talent or getting out... it was the WAY he got out ..to ordinary balls and with no commitment. Like Lawrence Rowe before and Marlon Samuels after him, they lacked the focus and mental toughness to allow the stats to match their God given talents... Hooper should have had 10,0000 test runs
That particular Had Hooper played in the World Cup, West Indies would have reached the final and perhaps won the World Cup for the third time. The absence of Hooper was definitely felt by the Windies team at that time. @@brajeshsingh2391
Sometimes averages don't do justice to a players talent. Carl Hooper was a great batsman. Sultan of swing says it himself. You can have your opinion, that's fine with me. But that doesn't take anything away from Hooper.
@ramsey robert It's not only his batting. He was a good bowler when needed, a good batsman and probably one of the best slip fielders. He took absolutely amazing catches.
@@winstonseecharan6321 you are confused between 1990 nd 1997...... This video and tour series I'm talking about is from 1997 tour of Pak when Walsh was captain nd Wi lost 0-3 ...... Lara made his debut in 1990 tour of Pak under Viv when WI draw the series 1-1
A player of immense quality.. I always believed that the game came to easy to him and that's why he didn't average higher. Saw most of his career, never saw him struggle against any bowler...
He was one of those blokes who played fucking horrible shots to get out. Perhaps lack of application, because he was a fantastic cricketer. He was a very similar cricketer to Mark Waugh. Waugh used to play some awful shots to get out as well. Both brilliant slippers too. Shane Warne rated Hooper as a better player of spin than most of his contemporaries, who averaged a lot more than he did.....
Mushtaq knows he bowled a googly, and it's been hit for 6 over long on. Hooper knows Mushtaq bowled a googly, and he's hit it for 6 over long on. Charu Sharma doesn't know.
