when I was a teenager, I used to hate Shoaib Akhtar everytime he bowled against India, but now after all these years, I salute him. Great players are no more these days!
We grow up we learn. I used to dislike dhoni purely because I didn't know how good of a player he was. When he hit pakistani bowlers for 6s and 4s like there is no tomorrow back in 2005. Now admire him as the best there is.
After Tony Greig's passing away... Watching live cricket has never been that level of exciting anymore.. !! The absolute on point voice modulation and voice pitch according to the situation.. a master at commentary Tony Greig Legend.. RIP Sir !
@@madatmenever it's not necessary. It's a choice. Sorry if I have hurt your sentiment. Do you judge everything or just youtube comments ? 😅 May God bless you with a peaceful life. You can try new hobbies too.
wow... So much talent... Got wasted. I didn't copy and paste. My comment was very small and innocent 🤣. Still it's burning you. Was it 'necessary' to declare that you were a fast bowler? These days people shows off whatever they have achieved for petty issues! Chh..
+MrFalcon2001 While I respect Jawagal Srinath who I immensly admire they are are vastly different. While Srinath used to trouble the batsmen with his old school fast bowling skills such as crisp line and length bowling and swinging the ball Akhtar had that killer attitude in him which our Indian bowlers could never quite develop. He literally used to terrorize the batsman with his extreme pace and bounce. As if that was not enough he had a terrific yorker that would literally destroy you. When it comes to fast bowling, IMO it always comes down to what kind of attitude you have, Akhtar had that x-factor in him just like many other fast bowling legends. Always in your face!
MrFalcon2001 stop hating you moron he under achieved due to his injuries and his personal issues with the PCB board internal politics also destroyed his career he was very outspoken cricketer he took no shit from the team selectors ...
I remember Pakistan touring South Africa and in the first test Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were firing away at the Proteas top order. And when the first change finally came, I thought to myself now things will get a bit easier as this new kid called Shoaib Acktar was introduced into the attack, I was so wrong!
Proud to have been alive in the era of Shoaib Akhtar.. One of the greatest bowlers and a great human being. The thrills and chills he gave to cricket fans will never be seen again.
I was very lucky to have seen the generation of Wasim, waqar and Shoaib while I was in my teens. Stumps uprooted were a great sight to watch no matter what. Absolute gems. Can never get that era back again. It's all batsman dominated since the last decade. Otherwise it was a great test of patience, body language, skill and art
COMPLETELY WRONG TITLE. Shoaib's greatest over was when he clean bowled two of Test cricket's four highest run scorers in history like sitting ducks in one over, humiliating an entire nation that adores its batting doyens, at Kolkata in 1997. Most fast bowlers could only dream of that. I am an Indian, but I was in awe of this man's speed on that day and admired his skill as did everyone present. That is the true hallmark of greatness, when your opponents show you their appreciation.
Jayakrishnan Nair and after that the life of Shoiab akhtar was a joke be in World Cup 2003 be in test matches in Pakistan where went two times and won on the both occasions and many more
@@709preet in 2003 he was injured just one match does not make him a joke even tendulkar was horrible after tennis elbow injury.... after 2009 sachin recovered some form
Jack Sparrow watching that replay in slow motion still tells you how fast Shoaib Akhtar bowls when he always targets the stumps simply he is an amazing bowler for Pakistan team :D
@Surti Adnan yes he was..but never had shoaibs body presence..shoaib was a bull..imagine a bull running 100mts away to u and produce something like a missile, oh man, that ain't a pleasant sight
Cric is now boring with players all the time hitting sixes out of the park against lame bowling. Fast bowling is an art and talent. miss those old days when you had to be cautious against pacers.Cricket has become one sided.
+since 92 Exactly, that's the reason i underrate today's batsmen as compared to retired legends like Ganguly, Ponting, Sachin, Saeed Anwar etc.. These guys had to test their balls against insane speedos and talents like McGrath, Lee, Akhtar, Donald, Waqar etc... If we just try to think for a second wherein ABd, Kohli, Dhoni, Root, Roy, Plessis, Smith, Miller or Finch get an opportunity to face them , I don't think even a single batsman from this era, except Virat Kohli and Joe Root, would stand a chance. Bowling has been literally lame since 2004... Steyn, Starc, Johnson,Bond, Amir, Anderson are not even half talented of what previous speedstars were....
Kavil Patel exactly. Just saw kohli and devilliers punish lame bowlers of sunrisers the other night and destroy them. Now i ask everyone all those cheering is this this one sided lame cricket they want to enjoy. Bowlers bowling 'lullu' and baby bowls to batsmen. IPL somehow encourages this kind of shenanigan to appeal to mindless fans.
Kavil Patel its sad none of the 3 will ever be able to to hit that 150 mark consistently. All i ask is one bowler from india .....just one who makes batsmen curse the day they decided to hold a bat.and one who makes the batsmen shit his pants. Is it too much to ask in a country of 120cr people who are batshit crazy about cricket. About Kohli he is the best. Sachin was a great star but kohli is the biggest star, the sun around which other stars revolve. Hes too hot and everones depend on him. Saala sabke record todega fir kya Sachin kya lara... .
Kavil Patel good review , especially of of rohit sharma. The selectors feel that they owe a great debt to this guy coz he has this supposed talent which he is ashamed to display on field _first 104 matches only 2 100's_ and are giving him chances after chances. He only performs in IPL (last night MI beat KKR despite kkr makig 184 runs). I think saala paisa khila ke baita hai. Raina iss like sasta diwali ka pataka, never know it will go boom boom or just a big fuuuuusss. Agree agression is a part of a fast bowler but shree is still medium pace and sometimes will be an ass on the field. Its like all barks and no bite. Thats why bhajji slapped him like a bitch. Sorry its my passion for cricket which made me pour out these sentences coz of the descent hte game is going thru.
+since 92 Rohit Sharma is an opener coz he has flexibility like no one else.So he can adapt to unknown conditions better and faster than anyone else. This is a great quality of an opener. You would have spotted him playing variety of shots with utmost ease. Even Kohli or Dhoni arent as flexible as Rohit. If you look carefully, all other batsmen have obvious strengths and weaknesses in specific bowling areas. But Rohit has balanced Armwork, footwork, serene mind and good shot selection. But Rohit has no sense of responsibility, lack of focus, no will or challenging spirit that an opener should possess. He suicides under pressure situations. If only he could improvise his armwork, he can play big shots more than what he does right now. Now Look at this social media chutyas claiming that Gambhir would have been a better opener than Dhawan. Those guys dont know difference between IPL and ODIs, Foreign pitches and Indian pitches, Pressure while playing for Indian team and pressure while playing for franchise. If India eliminated any fear of fast bowlers it was due to Kohli, Yuvi, Dhoni and Dhawan. Gambhir clearly exposes his uneasiness while facing fast bowler. He cant play short balls. Gauti is weak in many bowling areas and his hitting power is too damn low than Dhawan. Gauti used to lose confidence while facing pace bowling. His limbwork is too conservative which makes him bad quality opener thus decreasing his adaptability to foreign pitches or unexpected deliveries. DHAWAN IS MOST GRACEFUL AND ELEGANT PLAYER AFTER GANGULY. Well to be precise he is Mr 360 among left handed guys. Well i already mentioned his weaknesses in previous post. Its not about statistics, its about body language. Yup, I agree with you about Shreesanth. But i was just focusing on the importance of aggression that a fast bowler should possess. I think Shreesanth is the only bowler, after Zaheer Khan, whose pace and skillset improvised with time. They were patient at the start of their career but became revengeful and aggressive at the end. Shreesanth used to bowl 135kmph when he started playing and ended up delivering 149kmph with quality swings at end of his career.... Well I am not concentrating on performance of bowler statistically but his aggression, pace, skillset and variation, Which is a must if you want to deliver 150+...
Thanks bro, for the supporting comments. I am a big fan of Kohli and Tendulkar. I was so sad to see some big fight in the comment section between Pak and India fans :( I was saddened by that
Just remember how miraculous Pak were at that time...grabbing 2 lost matches in the same 1999-2000 season in Sharjah, one against SL while defending 196 with SL at 160-odd for one, and the second this one...watched both of 'em live!
सुपर शोएब !! super Shoib I saw this match live Still remember. He bowled tht over n then went back to Pavellion due to hamstring. But he did his job already. Most imp thing people missed here was the voice alongside Tony Greig. It is Hansi Cronje -- My fev who was not playing the game and doing the commentary. He actually ran out of the commentary box after this over Always loved ind and pak cricket Both the nation's hv offered so much to this delightful game.
WOW... I still remember that tournament like a dream I was just 8 years old at that time ...at the beginning Pakistan lost 2 consecutive matches against India and S.Africa ..but this legendary Pakistan team still manages to make a comeback and win this COCA-COLA Cup !
He said in an interview his knees were broken in his debut matches he used to put medicine on it before every match thats why he bowled only 3-4 overs in spell
Every truly fast bowler has their action questioned at one time or another, it goes with the territory. His action was never officially verified as illegal, although many batsmen probably prayed that it would be. There - that fixes the veracity of your post.
Not every fast bowler had "their action questioned at one time or another". Imran never, Akram never, Thommo never, Lillee never, Roberts, Holding, Garner, Marshall, Patterson never. Plus the many other express bowlers who managed to bowl fast without pegging it, never had their actions questioned. There, I educated you.
There was one bowler at the same time when Shoaib akhter was playing... His name was Muhammad Zahid unfortunately didn't play much cricket because of PCB . According to Shoaib akhter him self, Rashid latif, Waseem Akram and waqar yunus Muhammad Zahid was faster than Shoaib.. but Shoaib akhter our pure legend and we need one more Shoaib like you, in cricket
"Right! Kluesner on strike. Two slips in position. Tearing away again. Oh bowled him. Beautiful delivery. Magnificent bowling Shoib Akhtar. Absolutely spot on target. Seriously fast. He brought this place alive." If you take out Tony Greig's commentary, the video looses half of its charm.
wooow 3 wicket maiden defending 174 and that too alltop order batsmen of a South African team.....this actually has to be the greatest odi over of all-time
Those were days when bowlers were not a showpiece. Even targets of 150 were tricky. Nowadays T20 mode has ruined the thrill of low scoring games. Even 300 ain't safe in modern day cricket.
Really miss late Tony Greig. He was a great commentator. Also, miss the sight of Shoaib Akhtar running in. There was no better sight that watching him run in. Saw it a few times live in the stadium, and will never forget it.
Miss those days when cricket used to be a competition between bat and ball. I have already said that and keep saying. Corrupt IPL and T20 spoiled the soul of this beautiful sport. I switched to Cricket and moved to other sports like Football and Tennis. Only watch the highlights of old matches. Now its all about fours and sixes due to too much fielding restriction , small grounds and other stupid batsmen friendly rules
who won ? btw, its a totally entertaining stuff. Line and length of Mcgrath will win you matches, but kind of entertainment Akhtar or Lee provides is unparalleled - Indian fan.
the spell vs new zealand in an odi, lahore 2002 where he broke the 160 kph barrier for the first time would be a super duper upload I guarantee that it will trend everywhere and make it to the first page of shoaib akhtar on youtube
When fast bowling was really fast bowling. Akhtar, Lee, Tait, and before them The Australian duo, the long line of West Indian quickies-others, too. The ones who stand out in memory are Thomson and Holding, especially Holding, who could generate enormous pace with an easy, loose-limbed action, but all are worthy of recognition, and Akhtar was perhaps the first to hit a hundred miles an hour, confirmed
I remember watching this match. South Africa was bundled out for 101 leading to a Pakistan and South Africa showdown in the final of the tri nation cup (India didn't reach the finals). And they dominated in the final match. Pakistan was scary in 1999 - 2000 year period. It's a shame they missed on World Cup in 1999 mostly due to failed strategy against the Australians in the final.
An absolute ferocious bowler, who gave it his 100 per cent in each of his deliveries. Never had once cheated, whether it was pict tampering or ball tempering. Never involved in any such spot fixing or match fixings saga, and throughout his career played in pain due to his troublesome knees. Yet there are ex players who them selves have been caught out doing some illegal action. Just because he talks straight, and gives his opinion people don’t like him. Get to know him first that he’s a clean cricketer through and through with no wrongdoings. A lion heart of a bowler.
