Thank you Scotty for not painting the engine black just like everyone is doing of late. I personally prefer the metal look as it’s easier to see oil leaks and problems when everything isn’t all black. Love this Ute and can’t wait to see its performance on the track.👊👍💪👌🙏
Great stuff. Got to love the keyboard warriors 😂. Also good to see that you show all the normal hiccups along the way , like any normal project. Well done Scotty
Happy days Scotty .For those of us who will never get to build something so serious , its great to be along for the ride . I hope Proflow have used decent quality materials in the manufacturing process .
I'm glad you got use out of my tank suggestion. I've been running the vy tank in my vs for a while now with no issues. For the guys using stock vs cluster, the fuel level sender the vu and vy1 the fuel gauge will read backwards in a vs, vy2 pump or fuel level sender reads correct. Everyone selling top dollar rusty vg-vs tanks will now just take them to the scrap.
Good shout legend 👍 Do you know what options I have for a VR sedan? I’ve almost overpaid for crummy droptanks too many times lol I’ve learned some sellers mention “used” which apparently negates whether something is also “useable”. Explains why it’s being sold in the first place I suppose 🤣
15:03 Nothing is so satisfying than popping packaging air bags! Everyone does it lol. Nothing's been spared for this ute. I hate to see what the bill comes to in the end. I love the brake setup for the rears. Again Scotty, great series of videos on this ute. I can't wait until it's finished!
Love the show, looks like you may have put the locking nut for the rear hub on back to front. The chamfer on the nut should face inwards towards the locking washer.
Same fuel tank I retrofitted into my Dad's old 72 Jeep ute, I used it because it had an internal pump as I converted to Holley Sniper system and didn't want an external inline (noisy) pump.
Just love seeing bearings being packed right. Hate the job, but enjoy seeing it being done the right way. Hmmm not really the job I hate, it's the clean up afterwards.
Saw a video where a mechanic says don't pack rear bearings with grease because they are lubed from the diff oil and the grease prevents the oil from lubricating the bearing properly. Heard that before?
@@MrTonaluv possible, but would be a very rare situation (in a car), certainly not the norm. Most rear axles have seals on them between the bearing and the diff oil to stop any kind of washing / mixing. The full floaters Scotty just fit, the diff oil comes no where near the bearings.
Crank angle sensors seem to be the Achilles heel of the LS. Many people have given up on the factory location and put a reluctor wheel on the front of the damper to do two things. One not have to crawl under the vehicle and battle with hot headers and a starter to swap it out when it fails. Two reduced signal noise than occurs at high rpm and causes misfiring issues.
Every time I decide on a favourite car of carnage fleet they level up or do something completely different it's getting harder the ute and wagon builds are definitely up there.....tbh my favourite is still on the back burn I'm hanging to see the Tory build....
Gen 3's had DBW from 03-06. The easiest way to tell if you have a Gen 4 is the cam sensor like you said or peek under the intake and look for the AFM valley cover.
Hey Scotty coming along nicely instead of welding up the pipe out lets can you tap and bung them up in case you decide to use them later love my friday morning car fix with a Scotty thrash to finish👍👍
Hey Scotty, just watched the video and I noticed when you fitted the left wheel hub assembly the lock nut went on the wrong way around and it got torqued up. Probably just check and swap it around. The tapered side faces the lock washer. Good job though.
Could your next build be a Hk Kingswood Wagon with turbo Strata style draw through carb 202? It would sound amazing and Strata style setups are always amazing😎
I got busy and all caught up now Cool build will be good to see it running down the strip Interested to know why not a 4l80e for a drag week/challenge car ? *At a guess, packaging ? And Cost vs power handling/performance ?
@@STREETMACHINETV I should have bought a Hughes a couple/few years ago when they were pretty "cheap" $5-6k from memory, now in that $9k+ range ... and hard to come by
Looking good boys, why wouldn't you just tap a say 1/2 inch BSP thread in the water pump to take 90 degree brass tapered thread hose barbs, that way you could angle them where ever you need the hoses to go
Fricken loving the video's Scotty & crew! Curiosity question with the rotors, are they anodised? If so, will that have an effect on the bedding in of the pads? I'm guessing it will wear off, but a Mechanic, I am not ha ha. Anyway, awesome video. Cheers.
Are you the new leader of the Australian based Marvel Avenger super heroes. Cause, all l heard after you said the centre was being ready assembly. I heard in my empty breakfast bowl of a head. It was SCOTTIE ASSEMBLE !!! That would make a good t shirt for the Ute build, willing to design it for nothing. And you can use the design and sell them, and if they're liked . We could release a print, and function the OG drawing for your lad.
It wasn’t the most interesting, exciting or informative section of the video, but bursting the packaging blisters was the most relatable 😂 Show would be the same without you, Scotty ✌️
Tip Grab a cutting board from your local dollar store to keep in your plastic work trolley or even a metal or wooden one to use as a sacrificial surface for hammering and cutting and such so you don’t destroy the trolley.
4 fuel pumps why not just get 1 large pump to the motor and 1 in tank, Aeromotive have pumps and regulators that can feed a 3500+hp monster big block a lot less messing around
If you're saying it's a rip-off of another manifold, you would be wrong, we've had both manifolds side by side and they are totally different in size, shape, weight and design.
Most people would use curtains or sheets to wipe off the lube. A rag is very considerate. I love how people comment on other peoples builds as if it was what they’d be doing. I’d say just sit back and enjoy the build. I must say though, Scotty, your hair grows fast since your short back and sides.
If that's the case, everything was a rip off from the original internal combustion engine... an intake directing flow to ports is science, you will get similar looking things even if you start from scratch with the knowledge of air flow available.
