While testing a new intercooler we crank up the boost in our Barra-powered Mazda MX5 and find the limit of the standard engine. This was a standard Naturally Aspirated Territory engine with valve springs.

Glad those plastic zippie tie fan fitting kits work for you... I've had every one I have ever used break, allowing the fan to fall backward into the pulleys. Now I cut fan shrouds out of sheet metal & bolt them on the sides of the rad wherever there's convenient metal in the mountings.

when you were draining the coolant at the roughly 6:30 mark, there was oil/water in the end of that drain. The motor was dead then, but continued twitching for a few moments after ;) that said it gave you warning, but it was dead before it went on the dyno - and you let it die with its boots on. Good on ya.

I did the same with the tabs cut them abit off, but then put a lighter to the ends to smooth the sharp edge and it creates a tip so it never slides off.

And yes the lpg motor has stronger rods but still not as strong as a decent set of h beam or I beam just add more ring gap so you don’t damage those ring lands My Rb 30 is running 19 psi on cast pistons soon to go to 21-22 psi just stronger rods

I'm DEFINITELY pumped to see future plans for the MX5! So, is a green top a LPG engine? Not like I know ANYTHING at all about Barras, but wouldn't it be better to get hold of a red top from a XR6? I mean, I'm sure budget becomes an issue at that point as well...

Joshua Mclean : Hey...I think you are right man. Scotty, is the head gasket the reason for the Green Top Milky Antifreeze? Hydraulic Water Hammer with a mild deluge in Cylinder Number Five. Im guessing the rod beam bent at critical load for its cross sectional area with just a little extra water in the combustion chamber. The turbo was very carefully decompressed, and unlike the 182 to 195 Kw engine ran just a 8.7 to one compression and a 20 cc trough in the piston. At 18 psi with 9.7:1, the effective compression would have caused "Defective Compression" in the stock head gasket, and then the rod. Hey did you guys see the head gasket. Are we off base here Scotty?
