"Core" instead of "cor" and "rigore" instead of "rigor" is a common practice among Italian singers when singing Italian songs. Pavarotti does that too. It appears that they do this when singing "arie antiche italiane" like this one. Supposedly the extra vowel adds sonority (of course) to the note. I'm not too sure if this is practiced in operatic arias. The vowel can be added to the "n" as well. If I remembered it correctly, such a combination "n+e" is called "Italian n."
@@user-pf9ln2tk3g I know that "cor" is the shorter version of "core". My point is that it is written "cor" in the score whereas some singers "add e" or "revert" to the original form of the word "core". When one note is given to two syllables ending with "e," "core" for example, it gets shortened to "cor" yet some singers add "e" back at the end. I was wondering why I wrote my original post ; it seems I wrote it because I saw RonaldBarone's post 11years ago (at the time of my writing this).
What part of Jose Carreras is ADD? I see no trace of it in him. And what part of his singing is ADD-like? He is very well centered. I'll bet every move he makes is planned carefully. Do you really know what ADD is? Calling Carreras an ADDer is an insult to him as well as to all the people who have ADD.
Carreras was one of the great tenors early in his career, but something terrible happened to his voice. His voice became very strained and frankly awful to listen to. Eventually he stopped singing entirely.
This is nasty. He attacks the first note with a "bark." Whatever legato he possesses is ruined by his overly accented vowels - not to mention scooping and minor pitch problems. This is certainly not Carreras at his best.
