Carol was a finalist for the Broadway role of "Funny Girl." Of course, Barbra got it (and was marvelous), but I can see our Carol in that role. Just a lovely voice and perfect comic timing.
Yup, back in the days where you had to be a triple threat just to hope to get on stage. Of course, Carol's massive secret weapon was always her fourth threat, comedy. Greatest living female comedienne. Period.
She wasn't a beauty , which was an essential to make it in the entertainment industry as a woman back then , but her charisma and incredible sense of humor took her a long way 👍
She has such a wonderful voice. Shame. I saw an interview where she said she had no confidence in herself, so she did it as little as possible and always made a joke of it.
She had recorded an album called Carol Burnett Remembers How They Stopped the Show, and this was one of the songs. Look for Johnny One Note. Her performance is amazing.
Carol, I'm jealous of you...as far as your voice goes, but I have to say that even though you're a great comedianne like Lucille Ball, like her, you're a knockout, I mean, a very beautiful knockout!
