Lyrics:
And it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it
Oh no no no no (no no, no no)

.......and Olivia Newton-John, Elkie Brooks, Diana Ross, and Dionne Warwick - remember them too. These are all way, way.............. better than some very average or poorer vocalists nowadays. Why not also mention the late, great John Miles (Mr. "Music"), and Tina Turner too.
@davidbentley4032
@davidbentley4032 Год назад
@@Tony-H-Gos I often read comments like this on RU-vid, almost always from older people (of which I am one) and they hack me off. This risible over-generalisation that people can't sing these days. There is more music than ever right now augmented by the TV 'talent' shows so the ratio of 'very average or poorer vocalists' is certain to be higher. But there are plenty of singers who are every bit as good as those you speak of and please don't mention auto tune. Try listening to Weyes Blood and Angel Olsen and tell me, hand on heart, that they are 'average.' Or in the rock/metal sphere, Floor Jansen of Nightwish.

Through some close friends when I was a teenager back in the late 80’s we went out to Martha’s Vineyard and ended meeting and becoming friends with Carly Simon’s and JamesTaylor’s daughter, Sally Taylor. I am 66 and watched this show live in 1971 and it still sounds great. The BBC liked to record singer-songwriters in an unplugged environment. Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Elton John, Laura Nyro, James Taylor, Eagles, Cat Stevens, Crosby & Nash were featured. The found quality was always excellent. This was a wonderful era for music.

Since then I have heard-a-many records and tapes, as the Music is important part of my life. So Tapestry is unrivalled in its raw sensuality, wilderness and beauty in all its ingredients -lyrics, vocals, arrangements and specially string arrangements. Carol King is God blessed gift to the humans. Tapestry, Hunky Dory, Dark Side of the Moon, Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. These are four milestones on which entire modern music is held. Back in 1971, it was pretty safe to say that Carole King was the top female performer in the world. Maybe even the top period performer in the world. If not, close, very close.

Yes this song still breaks my heart when I hear it. I had just come from my girlfriend's house. We broke up. Driving home I turned on the radio to cheer me up. Only to to have this song perfectly start when I turned the radio on. I cranked it up and cried my heart out. Great song.
