@@imafoxylady21 I would say give yourself the time to get your "groove back". Go in knowing your anatomy & landmarks and watch other techs when you have free time. I was very hard on myself because I felt rusty. The more patients you do the faster you develop your own style. I've been at my hospital over a year and I couldn't be happier. Good Luck!!
Wow you were out for a whole year? How did you find a job after so long after school and how was it getting back ? I’m nervous because I’m interviewing now after 8 months of not scanning since corona virus cut our clinical practice short. So I’m just very nervous.
Getting ready for Clinicals and this is Amazing. I cannot thank you enough for the concise way in which you not only present anatomy but pathology as well. :-)
Sir, this is the best review of basic carotid ultrasound. In 12 minutes you discussed the important points of anatomy, protocol, and interpretation. I needed this since I will be having a discussion with my doctor soon about my results. I overheard the ultrasound tech mention plaque and intimal thickening. Now I will be able to have an intelligent discussion with my doctor. Definite thumbs up!
Couple of comments/questions. 1. Why no angle of less than 45 degrees for doppler angle? This is the old chicken or egg argument. If you don't go less than 45 then you will not be parallel to the vessel wall. 2. Also another scanning tip, don't be afraid to use a curvilinear probe for deep vessels or for the vert. It's saved my butt many of times. Nice presentation overall, well done.
The 45 degree angle is likely the parameters that were first set when developing these criteria. I’m sure if the angle is pretty steep and you use less than 45 no one is going to make a big deal. Especially if doesn’t really alter the velocity. And yea the curved comes in to save the day sometimes. I tell all my students there’s no such thing as a “vascular” probe I use all probes sometimes 3 or more different ones in one exam! Thanks
Thanks for sharing I just learned carotid scanning last week but concepts were not cleared ur video really helped me I will try next week to follow ur protocol
Thank you for the video Henry; it was very educational and very informative. I hope you make and I look forward to more videos on different exams. Thank you!! 👍🏽
Just finished the didactic portion of my ultrasound school and about to go on externship here in NY. Watched your videos before while studying in the past but they are all really great. Watching the “so you want to be a sonographer” one now 👍👍👍👍
Echogenicity has to do with brightness or darkness whereas echo texture has to do with texture of the organs whether it’s smooth and homogenous or coarse and heterogenous
@@jessicagaytan7070 you’ll want to leave the box the same if determining if the vertebral and carotid are the same. But if you’re probe is right the flow should be going from right to left on the screen toward the brain.
Am a patient i have no idea what this guy talking about. Ohh well i hope pass my test i guess u can call it am 41 got a stent in my heart so after a month or so later doctor did this on my neck and legs
