Everyone in the comment section who is crying because this guy is catching some fish, how about you stop complaining and do something about it like campaign for president/prime minister. As another person mentioned in these comments, this isn't fishing for food, it's fishing for the survival of other fish and health of our water ways. European and Asian carp are invasive species sucking oxygen out of our rivers, lakes, ponds, mudholes, creeks, channels, what have you. They make it near impossible for other native fish to survive in their home waters. He's not fishing for food, maybe not for fun, and sure as hell not for a trophy, he's fishing to get these creatures out of our water ways.

Takes a few seconds to put a knife through a fishes head and kill it vs. the minutes a speared fish takes to die... They do feel pain, they have nerves, that's why if you have every tried to fillet a fish before checking if it is dead they freak out when the knife cuts them, they do not have as many nerves so it may not be as intense, but like any animal, they feel pain. And no you should eat it, I understand if it is destructive, like lion fish, and if you can't eat it without potentially getting stung/poisoned, then leaving it, but just saying her is a little pond, these fish that have nothing wrong with them would be fun to stab then though at the street is f***ed up, carp is a good tasting fish when cooked up. I spearfish And traditional fish and everything I catch or spear i eat or release (traditional). I could continue to rant for hours, but I'll step off my soap box now; it is my opinion that killing without good reason is wrong, you're entitled to your opinion and if that is that killing for nothing but sport is fine then good for ya. After watching a lot of RU-vid videos, some of them twice, I have a more definite choice for my next speargun. It'll have a longer barrel. A bit more unwieldy but more powerful. This is a gun I'll have to grow up to so it's perfect. Despite the success that the hunter featured in this video demonstrated and I'm referring to his use of a pole spear. He used a pole spear but my next one will still be a speargun. Anyway I nominate this man to the Pole Spearfisherman Hall of Fame. ;-)

I don't know where this was filmed, but if it was in the US, Asian carp are an invasive species that wreak havoc on native populations of fish due to competition for resources. They shouldn't be wasted, but I don't know of any catch limits or method restrictions. Fishing for them with a regular pole and line often doesn't work bc they are filter feeders.
Those carp are invasive species, you can say there is no sport in this, and you may have a point. However it is a valuable service to kill these invasive species, as most carp with get into bass nests/eggs and decimate populations. These fish don't belong in our stream and outcompete for the resources, against the natural species. So criticize and complain all you want, you have a better way to solve the problem?

This guy is a boss, I had to check what the harpoon he was using is, I thought at first it was just a simple SPARTA! moment but infact its a more complex weapon, This is fantastic to watch him at work, I would say though surely a better way to dispose of the fish would be to donate them to the poor. Carp is an invasive type and theres an over population. Carp tastes great if you fillet it... Another note.. Science proved fish dont feel pain. Their brain does not have a pain spot. They do however respond to nerve damage and attacks but pain is unknown for them :)
I'm 7 years late lmao but I can answer your second question. If he's in Australia he is most likely not gonna eat them. Carp are an introduced species of fish that reproduce extremely fast. They eat all the food in the rivers which kills the native species. They also are very dirty and taste disgusting because of what they eat(they eat anything they can find) not many people eat them but I met one guy who them. I doubt this guy ate the fish.

This fool do not even know how to kill the fish properly after catching the fish. You must ensure that fish is dead after hitting the fish with the spear. It is totally wrong to just throw the wounded fish in the ground to die painful death. All fish that are caught for eating must be handled carefully to reduce stress and humanely killed as soon as possible after capture. Humane killing requires that the fish is stunned (rendered instantaneously insensible) before being bled out. Percussive stunning involves a forceful and accurate blow to the head with a blunt instrument. The force required will depend on the size of the fish. The blow should be aimed just above the eyes to impact on the brain. The effectiveness of the stun should be checked and another blow applied if the fish is not unconscious. After stunning the fish should be bled out by cutting the gill rakers or, with larger fish, a main artery. With the very small fish breaking the neck is good way to kill. Just put your thumb or other finger to the mouth of the fish and quickly make a move upwards. All this is important because fish also feel pain and suffer. Pain and suffer of the feeling animals must be minimized. When the fish is in pain and suffering, the fish also produce stress hormone. Stress hormone makes the meat of the fish taste worst and stress hormone also reduce keeping quality. Tight lines!

Ponds are every where in the sub continent and naturally they are filled with fish. There are so many methods to cach them netting and spearing and use of rod. Moreover, it is a picknick and delicious food is on the table for the party?
But it also depends on country where aqua culture is source of livelihood.if priority is the welfare of aqua culture for commercial purposes carp must be eradicated.but if bussiness is not affected then let them live they too needs to live
In Europe this fish are considered as a nice and good sport fish , treated with great respect. That's why most are angry. If in Australia and America carpe are seen as dirt I can understand their view but I don't see it that way myself.
Goes back to the fact Europe has jack shit for good fish left! When you have dozens of better fish to catch that's what you do. Why fish for carp when you have walleye perch largemouth bass smallmouth bass crappies multiple species of catfish multiple species of trout multiple species of salmon pike Muskies and the list goes on and on.
don't know what it is in other countries that people dislike carp and see them as pests. In the UK carp fishing is one of the most popular fish except we treat them carefully not spearing them and then launching them on to the bank and then we release them

Common carp have been around since the 19th century. If they where that disastrous they would have already distroyed the fisheries here in america long ago. I think you guys are thinking of the Asian carp. Those are a threatening specie.

What did you do with them? Carp is an under rated food fish. They are only here in the states because they were brought over as a food fish by Europeans.
