I'm glad you explained the active purposes of each oil...I'm only a week in since my BC. I've seen so many product tutorials, but none this detailed. It can be overwelming but you did great on this.
lol thanks... Btw, in describing a preservative, you can have antimicrobial preservatives or antioxidants. Vitamin E is a fat soluble antioxidant that stops the production of reactive oxygen species and therefore does qualify as a natural preservative : )
thank you soo much for this video! I just started to experiment with essential oils and carrrier oils about a month ago and I can't believe how wonderful they are! You're skin and hair looks amazing!
Just went out and brought extra virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil, lavender oil (smells so good) and rosemary oil. I found this little store that sales different oils. I did a wash and oil treatment yesterday, I used creme of nature argan oil sulfate free shampoo. Love it. My hair has never been softer or more manageable. I'm just learning about these products and what's actually good for my hair. I love it!
I big chopped about a month ago and was using most of the carrier oils you have, however I recently purchased the essential oils, and I love the way it makes my hair feels. I also rosemary oil, and eucalyptus oil as well. They are so invigorating. Great video!
This is a great video Nikki! I'm going to suggest to my natural hair group that we have a field trip to collect some of these products. Thanks for the advice!
I am so happy I came across this video. It was very nicely done and you answered some of my questions about essential oils. Thanks for the tip on using Vit E to preserve the mixtures.
Great video as always Mae. Next, you need to show us how to put them together:) I'm gradually growing my collections of oils, essential oils and being from West Africa I'm rediscovering the wonders of shea butter and coconut oil which my own grandmother makes.
Great video! Just FYI tea tree oil is also a preservative...just an added bonus. So you can add it to all of your homemade natural products to get a longer shelf life!
this was a fantastic video! I mix my own homemade products as well, and you gave me a few tidbits I didn't know. :-) I haven't tried a few of the carriers you have, so I'm going to try them out! Thanks sis!
this girl is so cute. for some reason i could just listen to her talk for hours. look at that pretty smile!! lol Thanks for the video! it was very helpful
Nice video! I make my own stuff too and thought I'd share some of my tips. Be sure your carrier oils say "cold or expeller pressed". Otherwise they may have been extracted with petrochemicals. If you like lemon or lemongrass try may chang oil. try cape lavender instead of lavender. if you like light carrier oils like apricot kernel and sweet almond try passionfruit seed and camelina. also, you can steep dried herbs in carrier oils at 170 degress for an hour to create an herbal infused oil
Hi Nikkimae, Again I want to thank you for sharing your natural remedies, this is really inspiring I am two weeks in to wearing the unrefined shea and coconut oil on my skin and hair and I must say I really happy with how well it clears my skin and liven up my natural hair. I was recently diagnosed with having hormonal issues so I am just now learning that all of my store bought products could have something to do with this. Question could you elaborate on the carrier oils and what they do?
A great tip about Vitamin E is to take the capsules you *I take daily* pure 5000 iu per capsule. Pop it with a knife or pin and mix it with your daily lotion over your entire body. Also, it works heavenly on scars and and face. I put a capsule oil *entire thing* every night after applying my my retina to my face. I will get on your pillow and on your face is sticky when spread alone but so worth it! My favorite cocoa butter is ura Cacia Organic Cocoa Butter you can get it cheap at vitacost.
Very informative, thank you for sharing. I have used several of the products you presented, just need to get my hands on some castor oil to try for my slick ups!
Baking soda is a really great exfoliant. Just sprinkle some on a washcloth, add a little water to make a paste and scrub your face or body with it. It's the only exfoliant I use and people always complement me on my skin when I use it.
Hi Mae! Just made my first moisture spritz and I love it! Just wanted to know if I should keep it refrigerated, or in my cabinet??? Thanks for the great info in this video!
I just want to say thank you thank you thank you!!!! I recently made the choice to go natural when it comes to hair and body products. I love your video!!! I learned a lot! Thanks for telling me I can purchase everything from Whole Foods too lol I would've never guessed ^_^
Sorry if my question sounds dumb but, getting ready to transition and would so much information on natural oils for hair growth I am confused as which oils to mix. I purchased peppermint oil to add to my shampoo, and jojoba oil as a base oil. For my essential oils I purchase Rosemary, cedarwood and lavender. Can I mix all three together and do I wash out the oils or leave on for a few days? This is all new to me. Suggestions would be appreciated greatly.
Thx 4 all that information!! I found it very helpful. I don't use alot of different oils, but I will now!! Can't wait 2 c how they do on my hair!! U really did a great job explaining!! Thx again.
I'm telling you my mom being telling me about tea tree since i was 12 now 18 still good for my skin. Thanks a bunch for such an insighful, througly explained video :)
1stly, u are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!! Jeez! 2ndly...and on to the topic now...i find some of the carrier oils have great strong scents as well...like the papaya oil that i have. So maybe it may hold out well instead of getting an essential type for fragrance?...or mixing it? And Hemp oil, i'm considering it for rich healthy looking skin...do u use it?
@Niesha18C , hey I am one that watches these videos fall in love with a recipe and go out and buy whatever is mentioned and I just want to suggest that before you buy all of these things, that you start out with maybe 5 items (oils, preservatives, butters) and see how often you actually make a mix, how long it lasts, etc. and this is just a suggestion so u don't end up like me with a cabinet full of stuff that I haven't even used...
What preservative do you use if you make hair butter? I just bought grapeseed oil and was told it could be used as a preservative. Thanks so much for this informative video!
Hi! I was just wondering - can I make my own perfume (or body splash) out of essential oils? What should I buy and mix them with? And what do you think of the brand Now Foods? I am not pregnant, nor have I high blood pressure, so I dont need to think about that before I buy it. But what should I not spritze on my skin? Is there something that can be harmfull when i have it on my skin and come in contact with the sun...? Great vid btw, you sure know what you are talking about! : D
Nikki, where did you purchase the vitamin E? You mentioned where you purchased all your other products but not the vitamin E. Is it safe to assume that it was purchased at Whole Foods also?
If its at all possible could you PLEASE do some recipes using these products, i want to go organic and it would be fantastic and so much appreciated if you could! :) xxxx
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for this video. You've just made me feel better that I'm on the right track and not crazy about carrier oils and essential oils. I'm just not sure how much is too much when making your own shea butter mixture with EOs and carriers. Any suggestions. I'm going to check out the rest of your videos. Thank you Chica jins
Could you please do a vid on mixing oils? I would love to know the ratio of carrier oils to essential oils. And do I apply the mixed oils as a pre-poo treatment or just apply a few times a week? Thanks in advance 😄
@Nikkimae2003 you go girl, education is the key to a great natural and its aparent you did your homework this time around. im so excited to have ur vids to youtube since i stay on it throughout my days off anyway..
Please let me know the best essential oils to mix with ayurvedic powders for hair growth.. So just to give you a couple .. I henna my hair once a month. I protein condition my hair and moisture condition my hair every other week. I pre poo my hair with shikakai and aritha and use amla neem brahmi and kapoor kachli in my conditioner. Please let provide a tut on the essential oils to use in a hair oil with these powders.
You are GORGEOUS!!'Pay no mind to rude individuals who have nothin better to do than troll someone's page and spew nasty comments. Obviously they have screwed up mentality and no life because they feel the need to be hateful for no apparent reason! Yoou Goooo Girl!!!!!
Is there a difference between the vitamin E liquid and oil? I'm making a mix of coconut oil, shea butter, black castor oil, aloe vera and maybe lemon grass (not sure what I want it to smell like yet). I'm attempting to make a deep conditioner! Anything that you think I should add, or take away?! Natural hair is such a trail and error thing I'm realizing.
That makes sense for honey to lighten your hair because when honey and water are mixed the chemistry is changed. Becomes like peroxide because it is an antiseptic. And you know what would happen already if you put peroxide on your hair.lol
there are so many conflicting answers to what I'm looking for: how do you dilute the EO in the CO? I hear 4-6 for 1tbsp or 6-10 for 1oz. Appreciate it, thanks
can you do a video on how to make hair spritzes.. using essential oils. i always wanted to make that. but im not sure how to keep it from going bad or rather to last, and be microbe free
What do you mix together to make All Natural Hair Shampoo and Conditioner ? And Also, What are some different oils you put in your hair for everyday or every other day usage?
Thank you so much,i wasnt really sure what kind of products to use to mix.I wasnt sure that they were REALLY organic..there is alot of scams with this kinda stuff lOl.
I am wondering do you use shea butter on your face?? because i put some on my neck and i never break out there but as soon as i put it there i started to break out.
I know sweet almond oil and Jojoba, safflower, tea tree, lavender, castor oil...don't clog your pores...do you know of any other oils I can use for my face..or acne prone skin?
