The Tone King has done a bunch of Carvin reviews and their packaging is always that way, it has an advantage, there is no way anything can move or rattle about in the box since the packing moulds to the contents. The disadvantage of course is masses of plastic packing which is not exactly green.

Vai's white Jem called "Flo" is the flower pattern one!

It's packaged that way because Carvin sells direct and stout packing ensures it arriving in one piece. The delivery guys over here will sometimes punt the packages off the trucks. LOL

you are not the worst sinner. Rob Chapman had a original Gem Proto That steve Vai Played and sold that very cheap.

I like the seafoam green - this preamp certainly looks sexier than a lot of other pedals/preamps. Such a shame about that very confusing and not at all environmentally friendly packaging.

you're not the first guy to review this. i just think from my experience there are far more offordable (even top of the line) drive pedals that sound better than this thing (angry charlie/riot/ect. i know it has some features but those are not my bag. for me it sounds lack luster.

I like the look and the size and I dont mind the wires I mean usually you have wirse in the back or the die anyways wow there 2 inches higher oh such a big deal no not at all they just ned down Little bit thats not a con or a flaw thats just ridiculous

how do you go to Berkley, Own one of every amp made, have a few hundred guitars, have a youtube channel reviewing products and not know Carvin does not go through stores it's a direct supplier only... well hearing your story of trading in rare jems and universe for cheap crap gives me a good idea why.. slap yourself again sir.
