I think he remained the greatest hero, which is important. Also, yes, Dean did seem very attracted to Cas throughout the show lol. I think Cas came to an important point realizing he could just SAY how he feels (I think we all tend to feel better when saying something that’s been weighing on us to an extent) though of course he was content enough to put that off until he had a “good reason,” aka saving Dean’s life, because of course lol. I think Dean did like him back, but that fact just didn’t sink in for Cas since Dean never said anything about it (instead saying things like “you’re like a brother to me”-yeah sure Dean.) I do feel like it made sense to have Cas be the one to say what he did, though. I don’t think Dean would ever work up that courage, and I think we can see that Cas really has loved Dean. The “profound bond” as it were. He’s always given so much for Dean, until the end, literally rebelling against the angels for him, so even if he’s not one for being very outwardly expressive (except those cute little smiles that I love, and all the hugs) we can still see how he felt-I don’t think it was pulled out of nowhere at all so it made sense to me. Dean may show more physical attraction as you said, but I think for Cas it’s more about romantic attraction. But anyway, I’m still holding out hope until the finale has passed that he’ll come back because I can’t deal lol, Cas is the best 😂 but yeah, sorry for this way-too-long comment, when it comes to Destiel I could talk all day haha xD

@@SoniaJoie First, thank you for your long comment. I was inconsolable and refocused on Dean's behavior in 15x19. I expected to see Dean more heartbroken by the loss of Cas, and that he would ask Jack to save Cas from the Void. Castiel is an angel thousands of years old, a celestial being. I found it somewhat humiliating that he said "his real happiness would be something he knew he couldn't have". The family love he has from Dean, what Cas doesn't have is romantic love, physical love. Or perhaps Cas has physical love but is immersed in shame and unable to be public. He was vulnerable and I didn't feel that he could receive retribution and that made me angry. In addition, the fact that Dean was able to love Castiel completely would give the character a broader meaning, in addition to someone just interested in eating, getting drunk, casual sex and taking sickly care of his little brother. I transcribed the episodes and saw that it is possible to complete the stories with a physical love relationship between them only based on Dean's physical behavior and signals.

Just like Stefan from TVD. It always seems to be those who deserve the most get the least :(

Vida still canon though... plus let’s be honest with ourselves, we still got like 12 seasons of Destiel, even if they never said anything about it until now. I’m focusing on what we did get rather than what we didn’t lol xD We literally got one of them saying how they felt, which like-never saw that coming, simply based on their character personalities! I think for a lot of people the ‘I love you’ is overshadowed by the fact that it’s a dying speech, but that’s like a whole part of it because he’s taking the last opportunity to tell Dean not just that he loves him-but I think more importantly, WHY he loves him, to make sure Dean knows how special he was to him, which we can really see when just comparing S15 to S4 Cas. 🥺

Dean says “he came into my room and he played me.” Basically that’s when Cas came and had a sweet conversation with him and then stole the colt from under his pillow lol.

Kara _keegan_22 well technically he just came in awkwardly to return a cassette tape and then Dean tells him it was a gift (because YES Dean gave Cas a mixtape lol) then Dean talks about how they’re better together. So not necessarily Cas saying a bunch of sweet stuff but rather him getting Dean off guard, having a moment and then sneaking off.
