A unique look at Casey Kasem's career, as ABC News highlighted him as their 'Person of the Week' in 2004. Kasem stepped down as host of American Top 40, and granted a one-of-a-kind interview to ABC.
My mother and I used to watch Casey on "America's Top 10" on television every Saturday evening while we made supper after church...Casey Kasem was an icon and helped generations of Americans learn about their favorite chart-topping artists...
I loved Casey Kasem's American Top 40 as a kid gowning up in New Hampshire by listening to him, on FM98 WJBQ Portland, Maine every week! Now, I live in North Carolina and listen to his weekly radio shows on WKIX 102.9 Raleigh,NC. May he rest in peace, he's well missed by all of his fans! ♥
Thank you so much for this amazing video! Casey was the first celebrity who inspired me to be the DJ I am today, and I was very lucky to have the chance to meet him in 2006. I got to go to his studio and listen to him record an episode of his show, and he and his staff members were super nice. I even kept in touch with him for a few years after that, and I feel very blessed how he encouraged me to do what he always told his fans to do at the end of his show. “Keep my feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars.” The one memory I have a special place in my heart for was before I left his studio, he gave me a hug and I told him how it made me smile. He then responded with, “Well, I’m going to make you smile twice,“ and gave me another one.
This is awsome so emotionally heartbreaking sad that we lost him in 2014 also nice to see footage of Scooby-Doo in here funny how the only footage of him being an animated voice actor in this is his role as Shaggy
- I was happy to share this video from my archives with George McIntyre and Cars 108/Flint, the market where Casey Kasem began his career in broadcasting. As George notes in his description above, it truly offers a unique perspective for broadcasters and listeners alike. In a mere 3:26 (the actual length of the video package), it is packed with classic video and stills. And, of course, there is no equal to Charles Gibson's storytelling. - As I mentioned in my original Facebook post that accompanied the video on the morning of Casey's passing: "Curiously, on the ABC News website and elsewhere, only a transcript can be found. So, this is indeed rare video (and is no doubt safely tucked away in the ABC tape library.) -…this story seems to capture the essence of Casey, as he speaks candidly about his role in Broadcasting and Communications." - May he rest in peace.
