I did some research and caster was born with female anatomy but has xy chromosomes. He/she doesn’t have a uterus nor Fallopian tubes, never had a period and actually has testes in her pelvis. He/ she benefitted from the extra testosterone all her life and still benefits from not having to train around her cycle as a lot of elite female athletes do. She is in a lot of denial and I’m glad the Olympic committe ruled gender is based on chromosomes and not how you ‘identify’ with or ‘anatomy’.
They ruled sex is based on the type of sex cell your body is organised to produced. This is not about gender. Her gender is female and her sex is male.
The solution is actually very easy. Just create an extra intersex sport event. The Intersex Olympics! Where all transgenders and intersex persons of any type are allowed to compete. So that the female sport is still fair. And on the other hand you still have a possibility to compete at sport on an international level as a transgender/intersex person, but this time on a level playing field! Everybody happy!
That’s my idea too, but then as u go down into high school and below, they have no sports. Intersex sports should still be a thing, it would just be harder. It just needs to be called unisex I guess. That way you can get other people in there that will fill in for missing people
Even in intersex disorders you can be assigned female at birth but go through puberty that is that of Male and vice versa in assigned male at birth intersex people who can have a period even though they were raised as boys. Much more research is needed.
What about the rights of the women who lost out on Olympic gold due to having to compete against a person with xy (male) chromosomes and undecended testes?
@Not Thatname Caster Semenya is not trans. She's got a 46 XY dsd(disorder of sex development) She's genetically male, XY, but was born with female reproductive organs - since all humans start out as female, and proceed as female if there's something wrong within the genes of the Y-chromosome.

If she was born a women, as has been proved, she deserves women's rights as well. It's sports. You're competing. To complain that someone's doing better than you simply because they were born with greater abilities than you is pathetic. We can't force a women to move to the men's competition simply because she's beating the other women. People are born with different testosterone levels. If a man has very low testosterone that doesn't give him the right to move to the women's league either. If you truly cared about women's rights, you'd care about hers as well.
She was never "born as a woman". She was raised as a woman but had testicles inside her body from day one. It's not up to human will and interpretation, it's biology that gives her an unfair advantage against woman. Compete against men, her biological counterpart, and call it a day. No one is trying to stop her from competing. Under your logic women's sports shouldn't be a thing - men should compete against women as the Y chromosome "genetic " advantage isn't a thing to you.
This person was born a male. Having an intersex genitalia birth defect doesn’t mean you’re both male and female. He was born with testicles inside him, which means he is male. He has male chromosomes and male DNA
@@GS-xs3we In what article or evidence does it probe that she had “testicles” as a child? Rare situations where women have abnormally high testosterone levels or where men have abnormally low testosterone levels does not equate to them being the other gender. If she was born a male and the topic of discussion was Transgender rules, this would be a whole other debate. But the arguments made in this video, and others, is based on the belief that she IS a woman, always HAS been a woman, and therefore should receive the same rights that all woman receive.
This is a really tough one, and I feel bad for Caster. But the only reason the women’s category exists is because women have a biological disadvantage from men in sports. And she has a very rare condition that gives her all the biological advantages of a male athlete. For someone who doesn’t care much about sports it’s easy to say, just let her compete, but for the pro athletes that trained their whole lives and whose financial livelihood is on the line, it’s not so easy to just say ya, let her compete, we’ll all just settle for a lower placing. And what about when it comes to contact sports, someone with this condition could seriously injure other female athletes.
Wrong, the only reason women's sports exist in the first place was because when women first started playing in sports, there were several categories where they were beating men and so they took it upon themselves to force women into separate category because the idea of a woman beating a man in sports was unthinkable. That's why women athletes of all the major sports organizations deal with underfunded, underdeveloped, and undervalued industries. They tried to separate black women in general competing against white women in sports for the very same ignorant reasons. You claim that these people who has a condition that 'benefits' them could be dangerous. Mate, every athlete have genetic differences between each other. Some of them are massively superior in terms of a number of factors. Take for instance Mike Tyson. You put anyone in the ring with him, man or woman, and they can get hospitalized. Not all sports are based off of strength. We need to completely dismantle sports and rebuild it into ways that all the different categories can be structured in ways that rely on the actual genetic factors that influence that specific sport. That way we aren't discriminating against anyone, man or woman, cis or trans.
Yes, the problem was that she was much better than the others; perversely since then Mu, Hodgkinson & Moraa are now running the 800m & it's not clear she would have been able to beat them
For persons like her I know it is not their fault however it is not ok to run with other athletes that do not have that advantage. Yes it is an advantage.
@Error Report no, phelps shouldn't compete at all. he's genetically advantaged over literally everyone else. he's EXTREMELY genetically predisposed towards being an incredible swimmer
Caster has and always will have XY chromosomes... she is biologically male. It's Caster and her proponents who "aren't accepting her as she is." This shouldn't even be a close call, but we have so many cowards today and people look foolish. I'm perfectly fine addressing males who want to be addressed as him or her, but I'm against punishing women in athletics. It's heartbreaking to see these women cheated of their earned accomplishment.
Biology as you know is the study of life; the fundamental concept is reproduction. “Biologically,” your sex is based off of your reproductive system. The type of chromosomes your born with don’t decide your sex, that’s just a simplified explanation of genetic coding they teach you in 7th grade. There is a gene known as SOX9, if you have XY chromosomes and have low levels of SOX9 the Y gene will not effect the sex making a baby born with a vagina, thus biologically a female. Also, the IAAF determines sex based off testosterone levels not chromosome levels. You could have a penis, XY chromosomes and still preform in the female events if you have naturally low levels of testosterone.
@@thatnativeking1333 Your testes do decide your sex though. Look at her and hear how she talks. How is she remotely female if it's not for her claim? People try to pander to one exception and ignore how it affects the majority (other women athletes)
Michael Anderson, “People try to pander to one exception and ignore how it affects the majority.” Okay then let’s give the IAAF test as the universal standard. According to the IAAF, Caster has extremely high testosterone levels for a female, she’s slightly above 5 nmol/L. The average male has testosterone of about 8 5nmol/L with athletes being around 11 nmol/L. According to IAAF regulations, a male can benefit for x amount of years of having 11 nmol/L, take testosterone lowering pills, and be considered a female, without even having a sex change. Would you consider that fair? The IOC declared it fair, despite that being a major advantage. And if testosterone levels are the determining factor, why aren’t men’s testosterone levels capped? I’m a huge fan of Usain Bolt. He probably has testosterone levels around 14nmol/L, while his compitetion has testosterone of around 11nmol/L. He has an unfair advantage among every other male and we celebrated him. Same thing with Michael Phelps. It wasn’t fair to any of their competition should we have demanded them to take testosterone lowing substances? The answer is hell no. Their greatness was earned. To say that the IOC is right, would mean that our male athletes would need a testosterone cap as well, and that trans-female athletes don’t have an unfair advantage to their field of competition. Would you advocate for that? I sure as hell won’t.
options : 1. Do a horrible thing to this human and lower her naturally high testosterone , basically tell her that she is not allowed to be herself. 2. Create an alternative league just for women with higher testorenoe levels and put Caster and women like her in that league : naturally high testosterone producing cis women or trans women. 3. Make her compete against men , because in men's leagues she does not have that much of an advantage , cause her T-levels and a man's T levels are closer.
I feel for her - none of this is her fault. But I understand both sides of this debate. It’s a tough issue and I think maybe the right decision was made.
@@shaylane5013 she is not female. We do praise genetic freaks of both genders. Most Olympian’s are generic freaks. Female Olympic gymnasts are genetic freaks and are praised. Serena Williams is a genetic freak, and she is praised. LeBron james, Michael Phelps and Usain bolt are genetic freaks and are praised. The reason Caster isn’t praised in her sport is because she’s intersex and people find that as too much of an advantage for her to compete against women. Why? Because she is part male. If they didn’t care about that, they would allow males to compete against females. And why do they not? Because males have too many genetic advantages and in a pro level would virtually always outperform women. Do you think men in general should be allowed to compete against women in sports?
@@KennyBucketz She’s NOT part male. Intersex is a sex on its own. It is not male OR female. That’s number one. And neither of those athletes are generic freaks. They have genetic variation. If she was born with XY chromosomes and testicles were not descended or there was a problem with genitalia development in utero (which ended up with her being born with intersex genitalia) she is still actually a man - even if born with a penis and vulva … because she was born with Y chromosomes and testicles. That doesn’t mean she also has ovaries… Lots of babies are born with some kind of deformity or only one kidney or 2 wombs or something like that - it doesn’t change what’s in their DNA. This person has a male body and male DNA, regardless of intersex genitalia deformity - this person is therefore male but raised as female.

@@benz4118 voice doesn't determine biological sex (or gender, of course). there are plenty of XX people with deep masculine voices and XY people with high pitched feminine voices.
@@boriswilcox5121 chromosomes are one part of what determines biological sex. they're not the only thing though. biological sex is a collection of traits and exists on a spectrum. people can have some traits (ex. a vulva, wider hips, the ability to lactate) but not others (a y chromosome, breasts, a uterus). it's most common to fall on one side or the other side of the physical sex spectrum. all-male or all-female sexual characteristics. however, this woman is intersex, so, like all biologically intersex people, she was born with a mix of male and female sex characteristics. gender is different than biological sex and is more about how you feel. she's still a woman since she strongly feels like and identifies as one, she's just not biologically female.
If they don't want to make another intersex category, then she's just a genetic anomaly, and learn to live with it. No one said Shaq and Yao should have to play NBA version 2 because of how tall they were.
A genetic anomaly that makes "her" physically closer to a man than to a women. Therefore "she" should compete with men. Height in basketball is nowhere near as gamebreaking as a man competing against females so thats a bad comparison. A better comparison would be a heavyweight boxer going up against featherweights.
Young Suit, His biological testicles due to the fact that he has a Y chromosome. I say “biological “ because even if he has them removed, he’ll still have been born with them. His sex will remain the same due to his Y chromosome.
Caster Semenya is a great woman. She was born with high testosterone than estrogen. That's why she looks more masculine than a woman. However, you can see her shoulder and facial frame, and wider hips are still look like a woman. There are so many people just take a quick look at her physical appearance and they think she looks like a man, but she is not. She is 100% biological woman. She and Brittney Griner who played for Baylor have high testosterone hormones level in them. That's why they look more masculine. People who criticized Caster Semenya or label her as a man were not understand that much about human anatomy and physiology. Caster Semenya is a nice woman. At least she did something positive contribute to her country.
You are extremely misinformed. Caster's genotype (do you even know what that is???) is XY. That's the genotype for male. For female it's XX. Again, Caster's is XY. This is male. As for anatomy, she has NO uterus, NO ovaries, but HAS internal testes, which are male organs. The absence of a penis does not make Caster a female. Her birth certificate says "girl" because when she was born, she looked like a girl because of no penis. Since doctors don't give newborn babies ultrasounds to view their insides, they can only declare the sex of a baby based on what's "down there." on the outside. As for Brittney, if she menstruates, this means she has female reproductive organs, so she'd be female. Her face looks female as well. She also looked female as a child, unlike Caster. But still, one has to wonder if Brittney is intersex, since her voice makes Bea Arthur's sound like Sandy Duncan's, and she has no breasts and such broad shoulders and super long arms relative to her height.
How do you try to reconcile this with women's rights? 1. Appearance 2. Choice of partner 3. That voice... 4. Testosterone levels. 5. Internal testicles. 6. DNA = XY. Surely it is a serious question of whether a person can truly not know! One can try to ignore the XY knowledge, but only for mere seconds while the victims make the very first protest. Who is the victim here when women (50% of all people!) can no longer play sport? Who should be angry if this continues with full knowledge?
This runner, Caster Semenya, physically looks and sounds a great deal more like a man than a woman. I watched one of the races and each female runner was shown in their lane before they took their starting positions, and each, except Semenya, showed definite female anatomy attributes and characteristics consistent with the gender. Semenya's outward appearance is that of a man, meaning flat chest, broad shoulders, narrow hips ... leaving me to completely doubt the assertion this person is a female. If the athletic committee wants to take this person to court, then that's because they're seeing the same thing I am ... a clear deviation from the truth.

people have been very cruel tbh. she grew up believing herself to be genotypically XX and competed as such. where she was born she would never have been DNA tested and if she has a vagina, her sex would have been deemed female. as her body doesn't respond adequately to androgens , she probably also feels she is a woman and has always identified as one because this disorder would likely effect how her brain formed. sure it's a difficult call for female sports but be kind. it's not easy being born outside the restraints of the binary order , she never chose the body she got.

In women referred to as “46 XY DSD” - the most common intersex condition among female athletes - the presence of a Y chromosome causes the development of testes. These do not descend from the abdomen but do produce testosterone. However the receptors for testosterone are abnormal, with the result that the individual develops as female with a vagina, but no ovaries or uterus. Circulating testosterone may have no biological effect in the case of complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS), or some effect in partial AIS.
