I love how the thing that Godbrand reacts vocally to isn't the "tie him up outside like a dog" thing, but Hector bringing up him making boats out of things. He gets so damned defensive about his liking to make boats out of things!
Now all I can imagine after watching this, for some odd reason, is Godbrand making like a crappy, low quality, tutorial video on how to build boats. He starts to make your standard wooden boat, but ends up throwing a massive fit when something goes wrong. His tantrum causes his camera to fall, so the viewer is stuck staring at the ceiling. He then later retrieves it and shows off a different boat he just made, but its crafted from human remains... And he then says in a disgruntled voice, "There, ya fuckin' happy now?" Before ending the video.
Considering the best Viking master shipbuilders could literally build a ship from memory without any blueprints from material to end product...That's something to have some real pride in.
And they were efficient. Their signature clinker style of ship building used split and hewed planks rather than sawed planks which increased the overall strength of the hull while keeping it flexible, and a couple of experienced ship builders could have a seaworthy longship made in a matter of weeks.
Best thing about Godbrand (aside from, like, EVERYTHING), is how he is completely 100% right. He's right about Dracula not preserving a stock of humans for feeding, (the only one who seems to notice), he's right about not trusting the forgemasters (Hector is a pushover that gets turned traitor WAY too easily, and Isaac is a psychopath who is totally fine with Earth becoming a barren lifeless rock), and he's the only one who seems to be having any fun.
@@Ashes-wy5gb There's contradictory scenes. One has a speech right before Alucard's infamous "animals humping in the undergrowth" line, where he says" birds will still sing, but you won't be here." But there's another scene where he mentions Dracula's other plans. Flying machines to fill the atmosphere with some gas to block out the sun, killing all life and rendering the earth permanently silent, "and he will look out alone, and know he did his work well," or something like that.
@@spehizle The plan was contradictory. For one it started with Wallechia only, but suddenly it was a war on all of humanity, for which Dracula showed to be making no real effort and which would probably turn out badly for Vampires, since as seen on Season 3, none of the vampire lords had been shown to be able to impose themselves over larger kingdoms or empires.
@@spehizle That's the main reason I liked both Godbrand and Carmilla. They both saw through Dracula's lies. Godbrand didn't have time to do something about it but my God, was he entertaining.
They probably regret killing him after seeing how popular he was. Don't know why they thought it was a good idea in the first place, he's the only male vampire with personality besides Alucard now in season 3
Fun fact: The voice actor of Godbrand also voiced Dracula in the film “The Batman vs Dracula”. So we have one Dracula talking shit about another Dracula. Lol
And he was scary as Dracula. Dude said on a kid’s show that the next time him and Batman fight, it won’t end until Batman’s corpse is being devoured by maggots😬.

We literally see in the final season he had a plan in place to kill carmilla and would've freed himself if Issac hadn't shown up. Simp my ass. Say what you want about Godbrand but he was at every level the most intuitive of the Vampire generals. He understood the war wasn't a real war. He knew the forgemasters weren't good leaders (at that point. Isaac for king s4). He realized Dracula was just committing suicide... If the other general had listened to him Things might have gone different.
@@georgyekimov4577 this. Dracula was THE top dog of the vampires. This guy was the closest thing to Satan in flesh on earth. He hasn't fed, was depressed, and was basically starving himself to death. The amazing part? He was capable of giving Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard a fight for their lives. The only reason he was killed was because he let them. I have full confidence that this starving ancient evil could easily slaughter his vampiric generals
I honeslty think that was the reason why Godbrand was one of the Generals. Hes abit of a meme but he cleary understood war and was able to notice when something was off about a plan, not mention he was the only one who realize something was wrong with Dracula... wich makes me think he spent time with Dracula in setting up plans and raids in the northen regions, and maybe a longer time whe ncompared to other generals. Hell, none of the other seem to have noticed and if they did, only Godbrand had the balls to go up to Dracula and talk to him.
@@peterwhite6415 One of the reasons why he's a favorite for me is the fact that he cares about doing a good job and he isn't above apologizing for his mistakes--among his peers, at least. When he apologized to Hector, I had to admit I found him begrudgingly respectable. He wasn't exactly wrong for pointing out what was going on, too. I kinda wished I had seen more of him.
Well that goes back to the whole superstitions about vampires, which odd enough plagues/diseases typically were thought to not be able to cross the rivers, but it's not like they really thought it was a bad idea to go on a random ghost ship with a bunch of dead bodies riddled with the plague when retrieving the goods inside the ship allowing the plague to enter at the docks of a community.
I loved Godbrand because he was just fun, and even for all his loud boisterousness, he was still pretty astute and learned about war (obviously, he was a viking after all). It was him that figured out Dracula was starving himself, and he argued that the war was chaotic and needed order. A neat insight, especially since vikings are usually seen/portrayed as chaotic dumb brutes. I can see why Dracula had made him a general. Plus he's voiced by the therapist from Until Dawn which always makes me chuckle.
I love him too, but Isaac is just as awesome in my opinion. It was a sacrifice, but we can always go back and watch more of him. And we have a better love for his screentime because he's dead.. right?

Man I wish this character was still around in the show dude was badass and comedy gold also really wanted him and Trevor to meet. it would been funny as hell if that scenario went down.

A Viking vampire is an interesting idea. I guess the dark Nordic winters would fit a vampire, although the bright summer nights would be a problem (trust me, I'm from Finland, I know this shit). By the way, the name Godbrand is Gudbrandr in Old Norse. It means "marked/branded by the gods", as far as I know.
@@Vegito_Fanpage Considering every character in this series is from a non-English speaking country, all the generals could understand English, and they were arguing with Hector and Isaac who were speaking English, I imagine they know how to speak it.
While I love his defensiveness regarding the boat jab. To me the funniest part of this scene is actually just the "... Bigot!" It's such a tame response coming from a literal Vampire Viking.
That was my favorite line from Dracula. That and his comment about how any parent would react the way Hector's did over seeing a reanimated dead cat dancing for him.

Let's be honest, Godbrand was just a vampire. He didn't have treacherous bones in him, he was as intelligent as he needed to be, even recognizing certain problems with Dracula's plans even if he didn't have the words to describe it, and had at least enough humility to apologize and seek a way to fix the problem. It's actually really a shame that he had to die.
This show stands out to me because they made a Viking sound like they could actually be Scandanavian, not a Brit or a Scott. Also the fact they make him out to be very strong WITHOUT having to draw him like a body builder
This 'gathering of vampires' reminds me of Anno Dracula by Kim Newman, which is one of my favorite vampire stories of all time. Think "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", if Stoker's Dracula became King of England around the time of Jack the Ripper. Really good stuff, with tons of characters from the literature of that time.

kinda funny how godbrand is both the most stupid and intelligent vampire there stupid because impulse and just generally doesn't think before acting or talking, but he seems to be one of the only ones (and i think the first one) who realized what dracula was actually up too. Its not that dracula desires to destroy humanity (though that is a big part of it) its basically just "history's longest suicide note" and he's the one to confront him and be like "okay, so yeah we have blood right now, but what about in the far future where there is zero humans left, eventually we will run out of blood" kind of thing and then of course dracula loses his shit on godbrand and belittles him/dares godbrand to challenge or fight him
His voice was so familiar and I for the life of me could not remember from where, than he said he was a viking and It instantly clicked in my head, He voiced Nattis Nelsson from the Mercenary games, one of my favorite games growing up and the most badass modern viking man!
Peter Stormare is a incredible actor and this is a example of how gifted I mean he made Godbrand such a good character to appreciate during the show he was a excellent pick for this character this is just goes to show how smart the casting is for the characters in the show
