Why is everyone saying that Castrol oil is bad... and failed in all the tests on RU-vid, even though Castrol is a leading and giant company in this field? Is this a reality or is it a media war?
2015 Audi S3 100K 300+ Hp chipped Change oil 3-5 K depending drive style Castrol since day 1 the oil cap says it its like a placebo affect. Fkn cap says Castrol 🙄 Anyway upgraded to Edge Extended performance due to the fact that my car is prone to (LISP ) so this oil formula is SN PLUS and im excited to know I'm still putting in Castrol. I swear my oil is always honey clean...
Why is everyone saying that Castrol oil is bad... and failed in all the tests on RU-vid, even though Castrol is a leading and giant company in this field? Is this a reality or is it a media war?
Because their stupidly simple tests are retarded and flawed and have no scientific merit whatsoever..They're merely clickbate to generate the youtuber income as oil is a popular subject.
Thank you for your suggestion! We'll make sure to include this topic in one of our next videos! Stay tuned! But until then, make sure to watch the rest of our existing videos regarding oil, only on this channel! ^ Alex, Team Castrol
Castrol EDGE 5W-30 LL is suitable for use in automobile, gasoline and diesel engines where the manufacturer recommends an ACEA C3 specification 5W-30 lubricant. It is approved for use in vehicles that require a VW 504 00 / 507 00, Porsche C30 or MB-Approval 229.31/229.51 5W-30 lubricant. Castrol EDGE 5W-30 M is suitable for use in automotive gasoline and diesel vehicles where the manufacturer recommends an ACEA C3, API SN PLUS 5W-30 lubricant and is approved for use in vehicles from leading manufacturers. We'd recommend refering to the specifications section in your owners handbook or using our oil selector tool to find out which of our oils is right for your engine. It recommends Castrol products based on your vehicle's manufacturer, model and year of production: applications.castrol.com/oilselector/ Thank you, Castrol Team
LL means Long Life or Extended Oil Change which the auto manufacturers do not recommend. LL has a larger additive package than normal. This does not mean you can go beyond the interval oil change stipulated in the owners manual.
Hello Castrol, My car is Mitsubishi Strada 2019 4n15 engine and the recommended engine oil viscosity is 5w30 i live in the philippines our climate here is so hot weather. should i stick to a owners manual recommendation? Or should i use other viscosity.
Hello Guillemore! Thanks for contacting us! Yes, the oil viscosity is determined by the manufacturer and Castrol will always recommend following it. Have a wonderful day! - Alex, Team Castrol
When in Halfords the last thing on my mind is which engine oil viscosity I should be looking at… I’m more of a what colour nail varnish I should use next? Hopefully I can find one that matches the carbon fibre dashboard in my M6 competition. Castrol was always my go to until BMW dropped them like a bag of shite and want back to Shell. It’s not possible now to purchase a 5w30 LL04 from Castrol. So over to Shell we went as they produce the grade needed in the Helix Ultra Professional. It’s also in 5 litre bottles unlike Castrol that supply 4 litre bottles. It’s also currently half the price so I bought x4. Invoice was £126 all in inc delivery. Not bad for 20 litres of the finest. Unless Castrol catch up they’re gonna lose a lot of BMW owners that have been loyal to the brand for many a year. I’m sure there’ll be other enthusiasts with other car brands that find similar issues, including with their nail polish. So good luck! 👍🏻. See you later! Taa-taaaa! 🫣
Hello Castrol! I have a little confusion, with your oil selection tool, according to the car brand. I want to choose oil LL04, according to your opinion it should be edge 5w30 LL, but on the label of this oil it does not say LL04 anywhere. only LL. It is edge 5w30LL a LL04 oil,and why dont see it on label if is so? And this is your recommendation. On oil edge 5w30M it says LL04, but this is an alternative according to you !!! So which of these oils should I get???my car is BMW 520D 140kv 2016.
Hi, I’m trying to find out the difference between Castrol edge 5w-30 LL & 5w-30 M. My car is a 2015 BMW 520d which needs the LL-04 spec oil which I believe both of these are but which is best one for my engine please?

Hi I can see you are asking about different specifications. It's important to use the right oil and the specification is critical as some oils may not be suitable. As this is a little too advanced for me to answer, please contact our Technical team on our website www.castrol.com They will be able to discuss your needs and advise if you can use other specification products in your application. Thanks, Castrol Team

Hey David I'm a JLR mechanic and I live in Lagos Nigeria and our weather temperature is pretty 35 degrees to 38 degrees celsius add with heavy road traffic, please which of the Castrol engine oil can you recommend for v8 and v6 petrol engine for a higher temperature environment like Lagos. Nice video though and I really appreciate your lecture 👍
You never talk about the supercar oil and the low viscous 20 weight when hot. I have an RX8 manufacturer wants 5w20 but many say it really needs a 5w30 your supercar oils are either the Xw20 Xw50 Xw60 yet I can't find any videos explaining any of the benefits of these more expensive supercar oils. Wil the Xw20 supercar oil protect the stationary gear in the rotary engine or is it only suitable for piston engines. You all cover general bearings and pistons but what about gears and sprockets inside the engine etc
hi. i remember using castrol GTX with liquid tungston back in the early 70s for my L/rovers, and sometimes got a free thermos when buying a gallon of oil
I am using honda activa since past 5 years and was using honda genuine oil which is extremely low grade oil which does not support engine at any side. But after using castrol my scooters engine delivered great power, average, performance and smooth long rides which honda's oil never gave.

Why does Halfords website say Castrol Magnatec 5w 30 A5 is NOT SUITABLE for my old Corolla. And both your website and Halfords recommend Edge C3 instesd . C3 in a 23 year old car are you sure ?
I use 5w 30 Magnatec C2 in my 2004 Yaris 1.0 been using same oil every year for 8 years at least the manual states use A5 oil 5w 30 to 10w 40 but its not that common these days, I did use that from new but I found the car got better fuel mileage with the C2 oil, TBH Toyota engines are pretty tough from this era they can take most grades of oil they are pretty forgiving cant speak for newer Toyotas and their 0w 16 oils which are piss thin.
@@AzureecosseI don't understand 'mpas' ,but I do know that c2 has the same mpas as a5, but c3 is higher, perhaps higher is okay. I contacted castrol directly and they told me that a5 was better for old cars and I should continue using it ! I really don't think they got the point...why then does their website recommend a c3 oil . What is the world coming to ? Castrol are clueless when it comes to oils ...

@@Castrol_UK Yes I did . Product finder recommendation, is Castrol 10w60 supercar version,which sounds to me a little weird. I suppose that oil is for modern cars ,isn't it;
As we said previously, the Product Finder recommends products based on the manufacturer, model and year of production therefore it should be tailored on your exact car model. Please double-check you entered the correct details as engine size and year of production, and it should be good to go. Thank you again for your enquiry 😁

Different engines require different additives that are found in the castrol oils for example you will tend to find most VAG group use 5w30 ll and most ford engines use 5w30 a5 however the newer Ford engines typically use 5w30 dx hope this helps
@@LaZy-On3 I mean generally they both do the same thing however its due to the additives for example I think the newer GM vehicles which say dexos on the oil filler cap you have to use dx otherwise your engine will be in trouble

Hi Ray! C3 is not an additive. I am assuming that you are referring to ACEA C3. ACEA is a set the standards and oil manufacturer's may make performance claims for their products if those satisfy the relevant requirements. EDGE 5W-30LL claims ACEA C3, which mean it meets all required standards 😊 Hope that helps, Paulina - Team Castrol
