+DJmarcynio well actually its 'basic', which is a mixture of mostly latin, welsh and some other languages, maybe he's right and they took some russian too, you never know (unless you are the man at blizzard who made this language)
Russia was also heavily influenced by Eastern / Greek Orthodox culture, and the Greeks were the birthplace of Western civilization, so it makes sense they would all be connected!
The music of Cataclysm gives me the feeling that they are finally using a live orchestra, or Hans Zimmer's program for performance... Either way, the compositional skills have GONE UP.
Had the base melody stuck in my head for awhile but I never could quite remember what it was from. Can’t believe i was 6 when I last heard this. -Cant believe my parents -*-let-*- a 6 year old play this game-
You see a lot of people play WoW for the game itself, but not everyone appreciates the music. People say that it's just music but they don't take the time to listen to it. The writers are fantastic and deserve more credit. I think the music is great and really makes the game even more awesome than it really is!

This explains Alliance isn't just a pot of happy flowers, we feel real pain, real death..Real War, this is the might and glory of the Alliance. FOR THE ALLIANCE!
The Alliance is literally the opposite of a pot of Happy Flowers. Ever since WC 1, it has only known horror (even before WC 1 if you factor in the Dranei). SW itself fell at the end of WC1.
When I think of Stormwind, the only thing I hope is that they'll fill the big hole that was once the park of Stormwind. Currently, we have to make do with the Mage Quarter, when we want to do some quiet roleplay.
I actually think they put too much effort in coming up with new lands (or expanding lands that should be small - next thing we know, Kul'tiras is gonna be a continent) instead of updating what we already have. What they did with the new 'park' of Stormwind looks more like it was done in a hurry. But they do good work, overall. Legion looks great.
Some say "For the Alliance", while others say "For the Horde." I'm taking my stand, against all evil in this world...of Warcraft. Deathwing threatens our very way of life, yet the bickering and pointless killing still rages on. That is why I say something different, something no one will say, only those who truly want to save the world: FOR AZEROTH!
So noice how Blizzard recycles a villain song to discreetely make it clear who the bad boys are. Ty Blizzard, The Horde are the good guys, we got it since W3 anyway.
Im a strict horde player, only made one ally alt in my entire WoW history, but i gotta admit Stormwind has the best theme compared to any other city in the game, period.
No one will EVER be as good as Thrall. Thrall is the original badass. Vo'jin, The Shadow Hunter knows this. Sylvanas Windrunner, The Banshee Queen knows this. Baine Bloodhoof, Chieftain of the Tauren knows this. Lor'themar Theron, Regent Lord of Quel'Thalas knows this. And most of all, those most directly shown Thrall's dominance, Gallywix, Trade Prince of the Bilgewater Cartel knows this. They owe Thrall loyalty and they bow to his will. One day, The Alliance shall know this too.
And now? Eleven years later? Thrall is gone. Vol'jin is dead. Sylvanas is a joke. Baine and Lor'themar are only small figures in the once mighty Horde. Gallywix is no more a leader.... and what remains? The Alliance knows.... ;) For the Alliance!!!

@Cabezoun To fight Deathwing you need steel for swords and armour. You need wood and iron for siege equipment. You need lands for crops and herds. You need stone for keeps to hold against his foul twilight spawns. With the resources diminishing thanks to Cataclysm, there's shortage of any of these. Do you think that old rivals that fight each other for years would be so eager to share what they hold? Do you expect that from savage, tribal Horde or the conservative, prejudiced Alliance?
Well to be fair, it was the ENTIRE Horde which consisted of not only the dominant race of another planet(orcs) but also ogres, against one kingdom. By all rights it should have been a slaughter, but Doomhammer himself said that taking Stormwind was a close thing, as if they might have failed.
You know if they just hired a stonemason to chisel Wrynn's chin out of granite over the main gates, I think the Horde would be too worried about getting crushed to bother attacking Stormwind.
Argh, I'm ashamed of my horde comrades in these comments... First time I entered Stormwind with my Worgen rogue, I just had him sit there to hear this beautiful masterpiece (:
@M4N451995 Not really my argument, but I just wanted to correct one thing. Illidan was assigned a 10,000 year sentence for making a pact with Sargeras himself after becoming jealous of Malfurion's rising power as a druid, and the taking of his love, Tyrande. He gained demonic power and thus became a tool to Sargeras' plans of destruction and conquest, basically betraying his people, and all of Azeroth. Thus becoming known as the "Betrayer".
I play both Horde and Alliance, and they both have their perks. Like, Stormwind has the best music out of the capital cities. Especially now; It's so good in a sad dramatic way. Brilliant. :)
what edition of cataclysm soundtrack has this track? It has some elements of this track in Defenders of Azeroth, but not entire song... HALP PLS! Been looking for this for a long time :(
In all honesty if you want PVP addicted players that duel and arena nonstop, go Horde If you want a faction of organized and mature raiders, go Alliance. That is honestly my experience in the 8 years I've played World of Warcraft.
@ZexiontheVIth And then, after Arthas reached full power as a Death Knight, defeated Illidan in a duel, and ascending the Frozen Throne to become the next Lich King. So technically in this time era, the Blood Elves weren't really evil, but merely tools in a game of creation vs. creation.
@M4N451995 As a side note though, the Blood Elves leaving of the alliance was due to the racism and ineptitude of Lord Garithos, and Arthas did indeed betray his own people. Arthas' betrayal though was more due to the dark temptation the original Lich King was bestowing upon him. Garrosh as a very militant, but not incapable leader. His visions of the Horde closely relate to how the Orcs were when they first arrived from Draenor, brutal and unrelenting.
@Bexilulz Had you bothered to learn the full story, you would have understood that the Horde commander responsible for the academy's destruction acted out from his asignment. I did the Horde's quests in Stonetalon, and a good number of other Horde people try to stop the commander, and die trying. In the end, Hellscream himself arrives after the academy's destruction and executes the commander for the war crime. The Horde was not responsible for what happend in Stonetalon. A traitor was.
