Went out camping up in the Sierra Mountains to catch trout and self made smoker! Bone Tweezers: amzn.to/2xqfEvG Knife: amzn.to/2xqPyc8 Collapsible net: amzn.to/2XnQEof IG@Outdoorcheflife
I had to reupload yesterday’s video. I rushed the edit a little too much and realized I missed a couple things and also cleaned it up a bit. My apologies!
Fishermans life and outdoor chef life are the two best outdoor fishing cooking channel!!! Congrats on the soon to be 100k sub!!!keep it up!!! Do another colab with Fishermans life?!
These views make me so proud to be a Nor Cal native!! Mad kudos to your fresh water videos. Next time, just bleed it out, clean it out, and cook it in butter with salt and pepper. No scaling. Trout is so stinkin delicious!!
Taku and Jocelyn, thank you. I discovered your channel not long ago and love what you do on it. Catching a trout from a mountain river and smoking it on a smoker built from nature, while on a camp out. How sweet is that? Raised on camping in NW Oregon and I can vouch for the tree rope. It can grow on any tree and is usually yellow in color.
When I saw you cooking like this outside, I can see you are a good Chef. My dream to have my own restaurant, and definitely, I will cook with passion, like you do! Cheers from Russia 🇷🇺 ✌🏼
I got excited again when I saw the notification for a new video. Haha, didn't realize it was an edited one... still watched it and still great.👍 I really enjoy watching your camping and fishing videos you do with Jocelyn.🎣😊 And I look forward to your knife carrier, so cool.

Have you considered hosting a meet up where you teach some viewers how to catch and cook like you??? That knife pouch looks awesome too. Hopefully it will not be limited.
Wow I didn’t know you can butterfly trout been catching trout for 20 years now and this is the first time I’ve seen that great job on that smoker we wait so much out here that’s the only way I can eat it now although I’ve been turning them into trout nuggets lately so that butterfly technique is great you don’t waste any meat keep up the good work I know you have a busy schedule and we appreciate you finding the time to do these videos
Hey Taku! I've been watching your channel for a week and love all of it! Keep it up! Just made a reservation at Hinata on a Wed in Aug to say hello so I hope you're still working there!
I like your recipes. They are very simple yet tasty and pretty. I hope you maybe come out with a book or more videos of your cooking different things. Also I’d like to see what Lewers you are using.
To ensure that your wood does not catch on fire a lot of times soaking it in water will help it also takes the bite out of some of the smoke harshness depending on which types of wood you're using Peach don't worry about it but something like I think it's Oak Mesquite really hard smoking woods soaking in water helps a lot
Just a tip when using rooster tail & lures cast upstream & reel it in downstream. You will get a lot more hits & a lot more fish. The trout face there heada upstream & wait for the food to come downstream. A hungry fish is a hungry fish & you can always catch the way your casting but if you want to increase your chances cast upstream. Also I occasionally use rooster tails for variety but you should really check out the Panther Martins. They are absolutely killer for trout, a little on the pricey side but totally worth it. Hopefully that helps, I live in New Mexico & we dont have an ocean to fish but we plenty of beautiful small streams perfect for trout fishing.
I love this channel and I love your dynamic, skills and genuinely inviting and teaching self. Jocelyn too. Amazing. I just want to note one thing: you’ve said on some other videos that you won’t share locations as the locals or whomever have worked hard to find these spots and don’t want them overrun. This is wrong and fosters exclusion of newcomers and others whose taxes and public participation have contributed to that land use. Further, often it is marginalized communities and those who claim false ownership don’t want around who are excluded. Please keep that in mind when you protect others exclusion. Your work is so great, so democratizing and your very participation is a huge change in that culture. Thanks.
@@wideeyedraven15 If that's the case then just you know... GO OUTSIDE AND FIND THEM YOURSELF. Stop virtue signaling your attitude towards a guy who has done all the legwork and has every right to his own privacy.
@@gregbrixey2506 you clearly do not know what virtue signaling is but let us forgive that and simply ask: what exactly is your problem? I am asking only that people share more knowledge of places their taxes pay to maintain and not promote an exclusionary culture many ‘locals’ maintain. He is a hero to me for how he teaches and lives an the values he espouses. He is probably more open to what I am saying than the shut the door and shut up attitude you seem to evince. There is no chance on god’s green earth you would behave this way in real life. It’s a simple discussion. What is your problem with sharing some knowledge and allowing others to enjoy the fruits of our human labors?
Bro when I see a new video by the outdoor chef it gets me so excited.......edit my comment real quick didn’t realize this was reupload but still gonna watch the whole thing again
Hi, that renewed my interest in trout, thanks for showing us how to do the smoking and prep the whole meal. I'm a Stout drinker too, what was that brand in the big bottle, looked delicious. What I like a lot is that you guys go freshwater and sea fishing, foraging. The mountain camp sites look awesome and so private. Is there a lot of places where you can find such quiet?
