As seen on the television show "Wicked Tuna: OBX", the waters off the coast of the Outer Banks of North Carolina can be very dangerous and rough at times. Oregon Inlet has a repuation as being one of the roughest inlets in America and fishing conditions off Oregon inlet and the Outer banks can often be very dangerous. Many ships have sunk here and the numerous shipwrecks give the Outer Banks the title "Graveyard of the Atlantic". This video is why the OBX has this nickname.
February 28, 2019 was the final day of the winter bluefin tuna season in North Carolina, so despite the forecasted big seas and high winds, we decided to leave Oregon Inlet and give commercial bluefin tuna fishing one more shot for the year. The crew of the fishing boat "Espadon" catches a giant bluefin tuna in rough seas with wind and fog. These conditions were very bad and dangerous, but despite the bad conditions, Sylvain did a great job fighitng the fish. Catching a 100" bluefin tuna in 30 mile per hour winds and 10 foot seas! This is how you do it!
