Top class entertainment my man. I'm champing at the bit to get my gear back out. Thanks for filling me with enthusiasm again bud. Just love small stream fishing. Tight lines from Bonnie Scotland pal.👍🍻
Another great video dusty i love pulling out bigger browns out of those tight spots too.. like dropping down the burger on their lap while there tucked away in there living room watching tv lol lol. Thats how ive always compared this type if dink n dunk trouting lol. Keep em coming dusty !!!!!!
Appreciate the compliments, my friend‘s and yes, I was rather astonished when I found that caliber of fish living in that small stream! I’m fairly certain that there are more big fish in small streams than people Realize, they are just really smart when they get that big or bigger! 🤙😁
Thank you very much..thats the size I thought you were using and color ..I really enjoy your videos I like in Maryland about a mile from the Fulton county, pa line..I do alot of stream fishing up in pa ..we don't have many wild trout streams in this part of the state..I'm pretty sure you do alot of up state and east pa ..I know there's alot of native streams up there.. thanks again for the videos..keep up the good work
Excellent work here mate. Had to leave a like and comment. Well deserved👍 Winter is just about done here cant wait to get out to mt favorite trout spouts. Thanks for getn me through the winter!
I live in McKean county and I have a creek behind my house that has native trout in. I've caught them over 18" there. I walk the creek in the spring to check the creek for good spots because the creek changes every year because of flooding. There used to be a good little hiding spot for the trout that is inside of a hollow tree that is laying in the creek long wise and it goes up inside the creek bank. The end of the log is down below the surface of the bedrock and surrounded by other logs. But if you slowly work your way up to the log and look down you could see the trout sitting inside the log. But after checking the creek this year I discovered the flood water had filled it the hollow log with rocks. I'm gonna try to remove the rock and restore the spot.
Aww man I have to hand it to you for that stunner at the end that footage was awesome 💯 😁 & under this tight quarters you couldn’t have done any better well done 👍🏼 I loved seeing that take the angle from above & just back a bit it doesn’t get much better than that 😉 ✌🏼💙👍🏼🏴 ps I had to edit this I was talking about the 2nd last fish I never expected that behemoth right at the end 😮 what a session everyone of those beat my pb 🤦🏼♂️😂👍🏼🏴
I think it's time for you to get some Merch...Another good idea is recommending streamer box. Not sure if you tie your own but, they always seem to work for you.
That was a great video pal those were some beautiful brownies for such tiny water my biggest is 20 inches you can’t beat UL spinning for wild brownies 💯❤️ new sub here take it easy and Tight lines ✌🏼💙👍🏼🏴
I’m 17 trying to finish this year of school so I can get to fishing. The second I get the money I’m getting that license and walking a few miles to a little creek that should be stocked. I don’t care if I don’t catch anything big I just wanna enjoy nature :).
And Bud, that’s honestly how I started out & what it’s all about……. Exploration & the outdoors…… once you start figuring things out though, it’s like a snowball effect of success just starts happening and before you know it you’ll be catching nice fish on a regular basis! Tight Lines my friend 🎣
There must be an abundance of food in those cold waters. Where are you fishing? At least what state are you in. But make no mistake about it. I catch fish to EAT THEM! I love the taste of freshly caught fish of various species. Walleye is my favorite.
Yeah most of the streams I fish have one or multiple beaver dams in them, which do very good at producing big fish as in they are loaded with small bait fish which these bigger fish just thrive on and become giant…..then when these beaver dams break out these fish have to go someplace! 👌🤙😁 I am in total agreement, there is no better freshwater fish to eat than a walleye…… Crappie, perch and bluegill are definitely a close second and I do also enjoy catfish, but I like to throw these big trout back so I can build a history with them! 🤙😁👌🎣
If you like rooster tail spinners you will love the mepps spinner its of the highest class and quality of its kind french made i bought a vouple last year they caught tons of smallies and browines
Wow, impressive. Expecting maybe 16-18" fish max and then ..monsters... for spinners, when I've used them, I always replace the treble with a single hook with a larger 'bite', I land more and less damage to the fish. New Subscriber🙂
I’ve definitely been considering the single hook….. but have been pinching my barbs for the last cpl years…… helps immensely on deep hook removal with minimal damage!! 👌🤙 Thank you kindly for the follow & glad you’re enjoying! Tight Lines😊
Mepps spinner? I'm new to fishing, trout fishing in particular. Last year I used rooster tails and panther Martin's and had a little bit of success, but I've heard a few times now about how well the mepp works.
In this particular video, I was using a Berkley Cherrywood 5 foot with a 500 series Shimano reel, 8 pound test always! I have recently started using, in the past year, a St. Croix Premier 5’6” though!
Wow! They are beautiful fish. I live down south where we dont have Brown Trout. What are they eating in those small areas of water to get so big? We have huge lakes and bass fishing down here in Florida and Georgia.
Heck of a giant brown man! You got a new sub. My dream is to catch a brown over 20. What county/ stream is this if you don’t mind me asking? I mostly trout fish in Southern PA, but never have luck like this 😂
Greatly appreciative on the follow….. I actually bounce around all over the state boss….. I’ve found bigs in every region with the exception of the southeastern corner….. just never put much time in there!! 👌🤷♂️😁
Appreciate it boss….. glad you’re enjoying! 🤙 In this video I was actually just rocking a 5’ Berkley Cherrywood….. I’ve since graduated to St. Croix’s since then! 👌
I saw on another video something about you breaking a pole while getting it out of vehicle and you liked it so much you do it on purpose now. Would you be willing to explain that a little bit. The red rod in this video looks very small and ultralite. I’m using 4’6” vintage Daiwa’s now. Mini-mites and I love them. Just curious what you were using here and if I’m right that it was you breaking the rod ha. Also what streamers are you using? I see the mepps Aglia but not sure of the streamers. Thanks man. Another great video.
Lol…. Yeah man I slammed my tip of my Berkley Cherrywood in the door breaking off the front section of it & from that point forward I’d break that section off of a brand new rod because I got used to the length reduction & how much better it worked for me & most importantly how much more accurate I was at casting….. all from an accident lol….. The streamers are a homemade pattern that my buddy makes for me, he doesn’t really like giving information out about those but they are 1/4oz. 👌👍 Appreciate the love too man👌🤙😁🥰
Hey no worries, I’m new to streamers so I wouldn’t know the first thing about it anyway ha. Is it like a wolly bugger? I thought that was you with the rod, what length do ya do then? This creek really won’t allow for a very long pole it doesn’t look like. Thanks for the reply
Males have typically a bigger longer head with a hooked bottom jaw once they get real big or the technical term “Kype”…… where as the females have a shorter more rounded head and mouth! The big males will typically look more aggressive, like a alligator, musky or pike when they get 20+ inches! 👌
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 , cool! Thank you! . . . Yeah, earlier, I caught myself laughing to myself: while most of us are trying to identify the species, Dusty is identifying the gender of the fish. I'm like, "What the heck?" 😆 Although I will catch and release most of the time, I would like to catch a nice meal once in a while. With that said, releasing the large females would seem to be the most vital -- but, of course, releasing some males too.
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 , also, in one of your videos, you had mentioned that come July when the water temperatures rise to 60 or 65° F you stop fishing. Would you expound on that? . . . What are some of these unwritten rules of (trout) fishing? What are some of the ethics?
@@matthewmcdermit8744 well essentially when the water temps get 65 degrees or above it’s unsafe to catch & release trout….. they basically have a super hard time recovering from a fight & are at grave risk of dying so it’s best to just NOT fish at all under those warmer water conditions! 👌
Yeah man, you give ‘em an inch sometimes they take a mile in that structured water! I run 8lb. Stren mono, I’ve saved a ton of big fish by horsing them a bit right out of the gate to keep them from running hard into the structure! 👌🤙😁
And most of my earlier videos I am using a Berkley Cherrywood 5’….. then I started using a St Croix Premier in a 5’6” Medium Power, Fast Action & a St.Croix Legend Tournament in same👆
Though I've never broken the 20" range, I have caught some nice browns and brookies in the mid to high teens in Pennsylvania streams like this, and smaller.
My set up is a very reasonable priced Abu Garcia Devil spin rod UL with a Daiwa Legalis been using the same rod since I started spinning for browns 4/5 years ago I’m on my 2nd rod after snapping the top off on my way out on an early morning session £80 for rod & reel over here in Scotland 🏴 ✌🏼💙👍🏼
I wish I had discovered ultralight spinning years ago I always bait fished it was by accident I got into spinning 🤷🏼♂️ I found a tiny Panther Martin in a tree & caught a load of fish that night never looked back since also use Rapal & Salmo lures but for the most it’s Mepps spinners for me ✌🏼💙👍🏼🏴
Wow, I can’t believe fish this size live in that small of a creek. How do you go about finding streams like this? I’m new to small creek fishing and want to catch some wild browns but every “Class A” wild brown trout stream area always seems to be a dud with very little to no fish. So I end up going and catching stockies instead 😂
I pretty much hunted for big trout for most of my life, a lot of trial and error and exploration was involved along the way, pretty much keep your ears open for people that talk about big fish streams and maybe try those…. The bottom line is most streams. Have big fish some streams have bigger numbers of big fish…… put the right amount of time in & you’ll find them! 🤙😁
Thanks for the response. There’s a couple of promising streams off the beaten path I am planning on hitting in the near future that I know hold wild browns, I’m going to throw some big streamers on my fly rod and hope for the best. your videos have me hooked! Keep it up!
Im in NW PA and this fishing is great. It’s all on PUTTING IN THE WORK!!! I love watching these slobs being caught and released. I keep if they swallow the hook only then we eat them.
Well in this particular small stream, it was littered with beaverdams of which brown trout can grow very large in….. then when these dams blow out, these big trout have to go somewhere in the stream & the deeper spots with good cover are the areas that i target…… especially once you establish that a small stream holds bigger fish! This is just one for instance….. another instance would be thermal refuge…… big fish in bigger water running up in cooler water as the rivers or bigger streams they’re living in start to warm with the summer temps rising! 🤙
Legit lol….. i’ve actually thought about trying to get a bigger one with a bigger longer handle but truthfully the bigger the net the harder they are to carry and the more they get in the way, especially in the thick areas that I fish! 🤷♂️
i am here to learn, going up to PA in the Audubon, Collegeville area for the holidays and will be trying my luck as a native florida fisherman. any advice is appreciated
@@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 thanks man, are micro jerk baits n spinners straight n woukd i be better on mono line or is light braid fine. sorry last question not gonna blow you up
@@hunterphillips9754 yeah man either of those options would be good and honestly, I would alternate baits a little bit just to see what’s working better on that particular water…… I prefer mono myself never really got into braid, but if you have luck with it, it is definitely stronger! 🤙😁
Never ceases to amaze me... Even in a 4ft wide Creek.. you still get right in the middle of it.. 🤣 🤣 stay out of the water.. Unless it's necessary. Which is nearly never in a creek like this.
@@chasingthewildwithdustyrho2620 standing in the middle of the creek... You are one of those folks that catches a few fish(in a bathtub sized Creek) and thinks they got it going on.. 🤣 👏 The fish literally cannot leave.
@@emilymiller1853 I’m just trying to figure out your argument here…. The main reason I walk in these small streams is to navigate them since the surrounding terrain is very thick, brushy or inaccessible…… aside from that I fish upstream casting & making my presentations up ahead of me since the fish always are facing upstream…… I never spook them approaching from downstream, even if I’m in the middle of the stream! 🤦♂️😂👌🤙😁
A giant female that was sitting on her nest no doubt. Those are some big trout for any body of water, the size where you stop talking inches and start talking poundage.
It’s So funny how some people think apparently that taking photos of fish is going to make them spontaneously explode & most certainly die…..🤦♂️🤷♂️ I take pride in my big fish catches & certainly have respect for these fish but do also like to take a good photo of the big ones, seems like out of 4 or 5 photos you only get one that’s really good, but holding them out of the water for a few seconds per photo then putting them back in the water doesn’t hurt them one bit…. The only time this could ever even be a possibility is if the fish was hooked deep & bleeding or the water temps were north of 65° & I don’t fish when it’s that warm & I try not to even take them out of the water if they’re hooked bad ensuring a quick release! But thank you for the compliment! 👌
