Roundtables are back! Tune in Monday, May 23rd for the premiere of The Hollywood Reporter’s 2016 Emmy Roundtable season, and every day after for new Roundtable videos. Who do you want to see on this season’s Roundtables? Tell us in the comments below!
Cate Blanchett discusses the "week three" moment, balancing line of fact and fake in the 2015 drama 'Truth', and her response to whether 'Carol' should have been directed by a woman, “Peoples’ gender is not my first point of engagement with them, and it’s not with Todd [Haynes], and if you look at all the great roles that women have played... I mean he asked me to play Bob Dylan for fucks sake.” Cate Blanchett has won an Academy Award for her leading role in 'Blue Jasmine' and best supporting role in 'The Aviator' in addition to receiving 174 nominations for her outstanding performances throughout her career. Blanchett stars alongside two time Oscar nominated actor Rooney Mara, known for her leading role in 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo', and as Blanchett's love interest in 'Carol.'

If there aren't baity roles for women of color is not THR's fault. In the male roundtable there will be 3 actors of color (I guess Will Smith, Idris Elba and Sam Jackson), and in the emmy roundtable there were Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson

@mr.tigerpaw2182

Tooty Futts It was more like "Hold on a second, dear" than "Talk to the hand", but since she did that gesture quickly so she would't lose the thread of what she was saying I think it came out more brashly that it was intended. Kate did fold her arms right after though (4:37) & I don't blame her, she might have felt left-out or rejected. I don't blame either of them for that matter. 😌

You know, I used to like Stephen Galloway, but after this year's Actress Roundtable, I have lost all trust in him. He was constantly interrupting the conversation just as it began to get interesting and then there's this - his accusations about Truth. I saw Truth yesterday and think it's one of the best films I have ever seen. And I think it's incredibly bittersweet considering what the film is about for Galloway to accuse the film and Mapes (Blanchett's character and the real life person behind the Rathergate scandal) for not being "the absolute version of the Truth". Did he even see the film? Did he understand what it was about?

Skirting upsets our sense of belonging. Not much was really said in this part of the discussion. I was going to watch it again to find something more substantial in what I was absorbing but it isn’t there so I didn’t bother. The interviewer must have had to have taken tranquillisers to stop himself from ripping open his shirt and screaming ‘take me, take me, I’m yours’. Wow, what an abundance of talent at one table.
