Welcome back to the channel, we are onto Part 3 of our Sixty engine disassembly where we get the heads removed. There is nothing light about the heads on a Sixty...let me tell you! Anyway as you'll see when you watch, I am still fighting with lots of rust. The push rods and rocker shafts were completely seized. Just wait until you see the tops of the pistons.....
Enjoy part 3 folks, if you are enjoying the project so far dont forget to hit the like button and subscribe to the channel so that you know when the next part comes out. Thanks for watching!!!

Dean, thanks for watching. I strongly recommend it, they are lots of fun to work on. lots of small ones out there that are easy to work on in the garage and haul with a half ton.

I can almost hear that old engine sigh a great big Thank You! Really enjoyed the simple consistency of the disassembly; mostly done with an 11/16" open end/boxed end wrench! Thanks for bringing us along Nathan.

On mine that broken flat strap on the head bolt was a support to top of the radiator. I wouldn’t call them big ugly heads but big beautiful heads. I’m sure you meant decompression valves. I know I’m going to enjoy this series, I hope you don’t get tired of me commenting.

Thanks for the note about the strap to the rad! Yes I meant decompression, what did I say? Please comment away, thanks for watching

Nathan I was hoping to hear at least that you be cleaning out the Piston bores adding some oil or some evap o rust to those big jugs, for a good soaking. I enjoyed the short video as always. Thanks for sharing. And I envy you that you have your father, be grateful...

Loving these videos! Love seeing the old iron coming back to life. If one thing I could say is to please invest into a tripod or something and stop from flying with the camera from one spot to the next. It kinda gets people nauseous. Lol it’s my only thing I can help with to improve on the video side of your channel lol. Keep up the awesomeness you bring.

Thanks for watching - I do use a magnetic tripod most of the time, but when you have to show wider angles and stuff its easier to just put it in my hand. I am still learning so it can only get better.

Yah - I installed a new mic when I filmed this and didnt know it sounded this way until it was too late. The next 4 videos will unfortunately be the same since they were all filmed at the same time and ive just broke them into separate videos, im sorry but there is nothing I can change for the next 4 videos until I shoot more footage. Ill try something different then. Thanks for watching

Man those heads looked heavy enough and the jugs are pretty rusty too how much of that is sugar rust and how much is pitting rust? Either way that looks to be a whole piston and jug removal perhaps soaking it down with diesel additive will help break up that rust and free up the pistons and jugs. Awesome video
@ironman3406
@ironman3406 Год назад
Hello Shane thanks for watching - yes they were heavy! And you are correct they have to come out in a single rusted together unit. We had em soaking but hadn’t helped yet.

Mine had 2 pushrods rusted so tight I head I had to remove head with them stuck in head and put it on the press to get them out. Mine didn’t have headbolt washers. Are your’s 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 bore? I had to pull cylinders and piston/rod assemblies together, very heavy.
@ironman3406
@ironman3406 Год назад
I didn’t think those washers were right, this one is 6.5” bore our other one is 6.75” bore. Thanks again!!
