"Watch your attitude. Too often the only person who's willing to defend Christianity is the one that is angry. Let our motives be right. I do need to stand for the gospel, but I don't need to defend it as though it's actually in danger. The person's in danger, not the gospel." Amen to that, brother.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, a 19th century British pastor, said, “Defend the Bible? I had rather defend a lion!” It’s not that it needs defence, but that it is sidelined. This is not unique to Catholicism, but is systematic in the organisation and its theology. Thank you for your clear but gracious exposition of the genuine gospel and of its false imitation in the organisation of the Roman church.

Isn't the Roman aspect of Christianity inherent? I say this because it's apparently what the early church believed in, i.e. deference to the leadership of the bishop of Rome (the descendant of Peter). Some examples: - _"Accept our counsel and you will have nothing to regret...If anyone disobeys the things which have been said by him [Jesus] through us, let them know that they will involve themselves in no small danger."_ -Clement of Rome, 95 AD - _"You [the See of Rome] have envied no one, but others have you taught. I desire only that what you have enjoined in your instructions may remain in force"_ -Ignatius of Antioch, 110 AD - _"...founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles. Peter and Paul, that church which has the tradition and the faith which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles. _*_With that church, because of its superior origin, all the churches must agree, that is, all the faithful in the whole world, and it is in her that the faithful everywhere have maintained the apostolic tradition_*__" -Irenaeus in his work, _Against Heresies,_ 189 AD Your thoughts?

Thank you for your thoughtful approach to the issue. I appreciate that you admit that we should not use Catholics or the worst parts of Catholic history as the basis for your view of Catholicism. On that note, I have a question for you: Why did you only ask one priest the reason why he became a priest? I think you would find that if you asked more of them, you would find more thoughtful and logical responses. I agree that even among the clergy in the Catholic faith, there may be many who aren't catechized well, possibly including the current Pope. Thank you again for this series.
@brandonwhitaker8468
@brandonwhitaker8468 3 года назад
That's a sound observation, but in context I think the point he was making was that Catholics are diverse, and that that particular priest was an example of someone who had deviated from his initial expectation of what kind of attitude a Catholic would have. I don't think he was trying to imply that this attitude is a common one among the clergy, and judging from this message alone, he would probably agree with you that there are a lot of priests out there with different and more thoughtful answers to that question.

It breaks my heart to read things like this. Please reconsider, I almost left the church until I started looking into not only what the church teaches, but more importantly, why. I don't know if you know much about typography, but let's look at the Exodus as our example today. A type is a prefigurement of something to be fulfilled in the New testament. Moses is a type of Christ. Pharaoh is a type of Satan. Slavery is a type of the bondage to sin. Wandering in the desert is a type of our life on Earth. The promised Land is a type of heaven. The looking back and longing for Egypt is a type of looking back to the life of sin we lived before the life of grace. Now here's the important two not to miss. The crossing of the red Sea is a type of baptism, where Satan's power over us is destroyed and we become free (and I think we can agree that was an important part of that story) And here's the big one, the Mana in the desert is a type of the Eucharist, the heavenly bread that sustains us as we wander the desert of this life. Which is exactly why Jesus makes that comment himself about him being the bread come down from heaven in his discourse in John 6. Please, I beg you to reconsider. I'd love an opportunity to discuss these things further with you if only you'd give me the chance. I've found things that on the surface seem anti Catholic in the Bible, but once I looked into them I get it now. On the other hand, if we're honest, there are verses that just don't fit in with protestant theology also. Thanks for reading this to this point. As an added bonus of typography, look at Samuel when the ark of the covenant is brought before David and he leaps for joy in front of it, further, keep in mind that the ark contained the word of God in stone, the rod of the high priest Aaron, and the Mana. The ark was the greatest treasure of the old covenant and a source of great power for the people. Now look at the visitation of Mary and her cousin Elizabeth, the wording is almost verbatim of the wording in Samuel, and what does mary contain at that time? The word of God in flesh, the new high priest, and the new Mana from heaven. Mary is the new ark of the new covenant.

I was baptized Catholic, but raised protestant, not holding to any denomination. I've been going to Mass and learning about the historical Catholic church teachings. I am blessed by the beauty of the church and the reverence of the mass. The more i learn the doctrines behind it though, it reminds me of CS Lewis', "The Screwtape Letters". All the essential gospel elements are present w/ Catholicism, but it's all a bit out of order, sometimes inverted from what the bible clearly outlines. It's disconcerting.

@@EmberBright2077 just because someone else misused typology, doesn't automatically make it wrong in all cases. I can think of many other good reasons to be Catholic, or at least not Protestant. Example, explain to me how all these denominations claim to be guided by the Holy spirit, yet come to wildly different conclusions about matters of actual importance, like baptism, the Eucharist, etc. If you read the earliest Christian writings outside of the Bible (some of which were written before books of the Bible were) you don't really find protestant theology unless you really strain the words.
@EmberBright2077
@EmberBright2077 Год назад
@@firechild45011 So can you explain to me then how the Catholic typology is not a similar misuse? All the denominations agree on the important things. The only differences between are microscopic. All these denominations agree however, that Catholicism is false. Could you please show me what verses Protestants strain? Since I would make the exact accusation towards Catholics, primarily that they use very flimsy interpretations of cherry picked verses that are not strongly corroborated, if corroborated at all.

"The Bible is Catholic." Yup, that's funny! It's hard to say when Catholicism started, since the corruption and paganism creeping into lukewarm churches didn't really start to look Catholic until maybe the 6th century, but even then most of the many false things they teach weren't even imagined yet. It's laughable to think that a bunch of men in pagan fish-head hats gave us the Bible.

I said so what does jesus dying on the cross means? He said nothing about saving us from our sins, forgiveness and recieving his gift of eternal life. His reply was No! You only get to heaven by doing good deeds. He ignored me about the thief on the cross who jesus saved after he admitted he was a sinner and asked to be forgiven and saved. Now the 12 .. ......Mark 14:22-24 While they were eating, He took some bread, and after a blessing He broke it, and gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is My body." And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, "This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Luke 22:19-20 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood. John 6:35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. John 6:51 "I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh." John 6:53-57 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. "For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. read more. John 13:1-4 Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God, read more. Acts 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:46-47 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favour with all the people And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ? Since there is one bread, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one bread. 1 Corinthians 10:21-22 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? We are not stronger than He, are we? 1 Corinthians 11:20-34 Therefore when you meet together, it is not to eat the Lord's Supper, for in your eating each one takes his own supper first; and one is hungry and another is drunk. What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this I will not praise you. read more. For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep. But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world. So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you will not come together for judgment The remaining matters I will arrange when I come. Oh it is really great being a Catholic .... the richness of the sacraments, all of scripture the personal relationship with Christ ....

Thank you for this video series. I am a former lifelong, devoted catholic. Thanks to God, when I was trying to delve deeper into my faith by going to the Latin Traditional Mass, I decided to start researching the history of churches, and started reading and studying my Bible in earnest. It was like the scales were falling off my eyes, the more I read the scriptures and prayed on it. God is amazing, and answered my prayers for a deeper faith. I was baptized, am now born again in Christ, consider myself a Christian, not a catholic, and I follow the Gospel, solo scriptura. I found a bible-believing Church, and I now worship and fellowship with other humble Christians who follow the Gospel. I am a different person now - while I was always devout and faithful, going to mass weekly, praying the rosary weekly, going to adoration mostly, monthly confessions, praying novenas to Mary and to the different saints, etc...my head was “in the world”, and my moral values aligned more with the world than with the Gospel. I was duped into thinking my religious works (stated above) was what would save me, therefore it allowed for a worldly life without good conscience. Don’t get me wrong, I was a good person and not an adulteress or anything scandalous...but I was materialistic and vain, I dressed inappropriately at times and enjoyed the attention, I had lustful thoughts, and I was selfish. But I was a “good and faithful catholic” because I did all the stuff I listed above. Now I am born again in Christ, and the old me is in the past, an “old suit” I was blessed to discard with my baptism. Absolutely a transformation in my mind of how I want to live my life, following the Gospel, taking care to live in a way pleasing to God, which in turn makes my life more joyful and peaceful. I love being “set apart” from the world, on the narrow path. I don’t care to please man, only God. I never want to be on that wide path again, and I am praying heavily for my family, who are all Catholics. I sought God, and He saved me. But my catholic family thinks they are just fine, don’t need to read the Bible daily, because they have EWTN to listen to, and their rosaries. Nothing I say matters to them, unfortunately, and they don’t want to hear it. This was a great video for me to listen to to help with this. Thank you.

Me, too. I left the Church as a teenager, and still have memories of the priest asking me why I brought a Bible to Mass. The most amazing part of not being a Catholic was just being able to pray, without Mary/other saints getting in the way. As a kid, I had a picture of them as receptionists only letting the "good calls" in to God...funny, but sad. Now, as a believer, I can approach the throne of God in prayer whenever I or a friend has a need...or for a family member who is unsaved. Pray for your Catholic family, and if you don't mind, I'll join you in prayer.

In Acts 15 we see a perfect model of the Church. This chapter details the council of Jerusalem. This is where the Elders and the Apostles met to discuss whether or not converts had to observe all Jewish customs in order to be Christians. When they decide the issue, they do not cite Scripture as the authority, rather they state that “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us (Acts 15:28).” And even though this decision of the Apostles and the Elders was written down and they assert that it had the authority of the Holy Spirit, the letter which is Scripture also stipulates the following “Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing (Acts 15:27).” And this council, held in Jerusalem, had authority over all Christians, as we see in Acts 16 Scripture says “Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra…and Iconium. As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the decisions reached by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey (Acts 16:1,2,4).” Another extremely powerful verse from Paul is when he declares to the Corinthians that “He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant-not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life (2 Corinthians 3:6).” This is extremely powerful for two reasons, one it clearly states that they are not ministers of the letter and second because it unequivocally asserts that they are primarily ministers of the New Covenant, and if you remember from Luke and Paul’s writings, the New Covenant is the Eucharist. In Luke 22:20 Jesus states “In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.” And Paul reasserts our Lord’s words in 1 Corinthians 11:25: “In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” It seems clear to me that if your minister emphasizes the book over the Body and Blood of Jesus, he is not understanding the book very well.

One of the reasons prodestantism came to pass is because they refused to translate the bible having a translation of the new testament ment death for the reader. Or the one who had a copy they would burn them at the stake. And that was for the people who were lucky enough and educated enough to read. The masses were often held in Latin so it was all a mystery and people relied on religious leaders for the truth. Hence all the atrocities. "None of the Catholic Sacraments are in accordance with the bible " ALL the Catholic sacraments are in accordance with the Bible. The hate preachers also say no scripture to back up the Eucharist as the body of Christ .... I just have 12 verses for them Remember the Catholic Church is the most scriptural by far!!!

Mary needed atonement for sins. Lev 12:7, 8. Atonement is for sin. Why else she needed atonement? Only sin needed atonement. 4. Which part says Mary was sinless? Chapter verse? *Traditions + BIBLE says Mary was a sinner:* 5. Tradition says Mary died at 60 years of age. But why would a sinless person die a natural death at such a young age ? BIBLE history tells us almost sinless Patriarchs lived to about 900 years old. So it is clear Mary was just a sinner. Her genes were defective. Inherent sin in the human genome produces inherited physical mutations. Over many generations, the human population has experienced myriads of genetic mutations, and these defects have been incorporated into the common human gene pool, affecting every infant ever born. This is why the lifespan of men has declined from 900+ years in the pre-Flood world to 200+ years of Abraham’s contemporaries and ultimately to 70-80 years today. Mary did not live to be 900 years old. She was not martyred at a young age. Her body suffered the ravages of imperfection. She had a defective human genome and died a normal age (approximately 60) for a woman of that time. *6. Romanists claimed Mary was the woman in Rev 12. Why would a sinless person have Birth Pangs? Birth Pangs came from the curse of Sin.* Luk 2:22 Now when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord Luk 2:23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "EVERY MALE WHO OPENS THE WOMB SHALL BE CALLED HOLY TO THE LORD" ), Luk 2:24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, "A PAIR OF TURTLEDOVES OR TWO YOUNG PIGEONS." Leviticus 12:6-8 (NKJV) 6 'When the days of her purification are fulfilled, whether for a son or a daughter, she shall bring to the priest a lamb of the first year as a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove as a sin offering, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 7 Then he shall offer it before the LORD, and make atonement for her. And she shall be clean from the flow of her blood. This is the law for her who has borne a male or a female. 8 'And if she is not able to bring a lamb, then she may bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons-one as a burnt offering and the other as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.' Rom 3:10 As it is written: "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE; Lev 14:19 "Then the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make atonement for him who is to be cleansed from his uncleanness. Afterward he shall kill the burnt offering. Lev 15:30 Then the priest shall offer the one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, and the priest shall make atonement for her before the LORD for the discharge of her uncleanness. Lev 16:16 So he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, for all their sins; and so he shall do for the tabernacle of meeting which remains among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

I came here from Trent Horn's rebuttal. Though I'm with Trent on the Catholic side of this one, I do enjoy your attitude, and style (which is similar to Trent's style). I think it's sad that you had to go so long just explaining why and how we should pursue the truth. Most of what you said here should be obvious, but you're right that for a lot of people it may not be. I am a Catholic who came into the Church as an adult, having grown up Evangelical Protestant. Two points of disagreement that stand out to me here: 1. The contrasting of the terms Catholicism vs Christianity seems just silly, when for 1500 years the two terms were virtually synonymous, and the major exception, Eastern Orthodoxy, is still ~99% the same as Catholicism. I guess Catholics could take the same approach and say Christianity vs Protestantism, but it seems we currently define terms differently, as you said in the video. We generally view those who believe in the Trinity as Christians. 2. The Contrasting of Catholic belief vs Biblical belief. I became Catholic because I gradually realized how it was in fact MORE Biblical, as well as more historical, and logical. I'd follow up with Trent Horn's rebuttal if you want a few points where that's true in regards to points in this video. All that said, I do think plenty of Catholics don't really get their faith, and don't have the relationship with Christ it requires, so I appreciate the need for revival and conversion, but the true conversion should be to a deeper Catholicism that does live up to the Evangelical understanding of the term "Born Again" (even if that isn't how the term was used in the Bible).

Mike Winger, I'm not sure if you'll ever get to see my comment, I think you're a really intelligent person and I would definitely love to sit down with you and talk about all things God. I praise Jesus that you say you're a truth seeker and only He truly knows if you really are. I came across your videos by chance and came across this one about Catholicism. I'm sorry but you've got the picture wrong (saying this truly in a loving way). God didn't give me a brilliant mind like you to know deep theological truths and articulations, but rather God gave me a simple faith; one that is open to the Truth and a mind that understands complex concepts of that Truth in a very basic chronological way. A really quick background about me: I came to faith in Jesus thru the Pentecostal & Charismatic "stream" of Christianity in my late High School years. Perhaps like many youngsters, my faith wasn't deep and when the storms of life came, I fell away into the world. For a few years I was living in disobedience from God until by His great love and mercy for me, I was delivered from darkness and into life. I had a renewed hunger to please God and to seek Him in everything I did. My hunger for God was everything and I felt so little and humbled by God because of His mercy and love towards a sinner like me. I continued going for a short time to my old Pentecostal Church and I knew with new eyes that the doctrines that they were proclaiming was false and not inline with the teachings of my Lord Jesus. Long story short, The Holy Spirit called me to follow Him out to someplace else and I did this with much struggle because my entire mindset and beliefs were tied to this type of Christianity; I truly believed that Pentecostalism was Christianity. Until God delivered me out from Pentecostalism I didn't even know that God had a will of His own. I was then led to the Calvary Chapel non-denomination Denomination and for a few years I was fed there and relearned things about God in a new way, like God having a will of His own and sometimes He allows us to suffer but with purpose, etc. During this whole sojourn thru my growing in the Lord, innocently I was thinking about the many other Christian churches that proclaim their love for Jesus and teach doctrines that come into direct opposition to one another and how there's a lot of bitter arguments about things that are viewed as essentials to some but not essential to others, etc and I asked my Pastor once if we as Christians can just come together as ONE family to sit down and discuss our differences with the objective of reconciliation. He actually laughed at my question and said that it's not possible and that he doesn't care for unity. I put that comment on the back burner and went on with life. Yet, my hunger for Truth grew more intense within me and this desire for all Christians to be ONE like a family at table eating and sharing their lives together. I'm not talking about being ONE yet forfeiting Truth to be ONE, but getting over the issues that keep us separated from being together as a family again and having one voice proclaiming the Truth of the Messiah Jesus with one faith, one baptism, one Lord. Again, trying to keep this short, but after years of seeking the Truth and finding out about the Early Church Fathers, my chronological way of understanding things and the working of the Holy Spirit as guide, I became convinced of the claims of the Catholic Church and was received into the Catholic faith at Easter Vigil A.D. 2010 Since that time I haven't regretted it yet I had a lot of struggles working thru my anti-Catholic beliefs acquired from my Evangelical Protestant years. Again, I think that you're a intelligent person whom I would like to sit in your presence and talk theology and all things God, and from my perspective you are so close to the Truth of the Catholic faith and you'd be a great Catholic theologian, like Scott Hahn, yet the misinformation along with old anti-Catholic prejudices block you from knowing the Truth. I'm truly saying this in love brother. May God bless you and your family and I pray that someday you'll know the JOY of what it means to be a Catholic.

I have a very hard time believing the story about the priest at around 18:00. He went through five or six years of education and training before his first ordination and you are telling me he never thought about why he wanted to be a priest? He have discussed this very issue extensively with his spiritual director during his time as a seminarian. Becoming a priest is not a job you are choosing. It is a calling by God you are answering to. Was Aaron choosing among different jobs during the exodus? Was Moses, Jeremia, Elia, David or Samuel choosing what to do?

*This is what Roman ct teaches. R Catholicism has nothing to do with God and His Words. R Catholic Church contradicts Scriptures in every possible ways!* 1. Catholics say Mary was sinless. But BIBLE says Mary offered a sinner's offering. She was a sinner. Bible says Mary needed a Saviour. Lk 2:23-24, Lev 12:6-8, Rom 3:10. 2. Catholics say clergies must be celibate. Yet BIBLE says Peter (supposed R Church first leader) had mother in law. Bible says celibacy is not a qualification for clergies. Mat 8:14-15, Mar 1:30-31, Luk 4:38-39. 3. Catholics say Mary was forever virgin. Yet BIBLE says Jesus had brothers and sisters. Mary was not perpetually virgin. Mk 6:3, Mat 13:55, Mat 27:56, Mar 6:3, Mar 15:40, Mar 15:47. 4. Catholics say confess to R priests in a box. BIBLE says nothing about confessing to priests in a box. Bible says confess to GOD only. 1 John 1:9, Mat 6, Romans 10:9-10. 5. Catholics say drink of the physical blood of Jesus. Yet OT and NT both say do not drink blood. Acts 15, Lev 7:26. 6. Catholics say pray to passed on Mary and "saints". Yet BIBLE says do not contact the dead. NT Church did not record a single case of NT believers asking passed on saints to pray for them. Deut 18:11, Isaiah 8:19. 7. Catholics make and bow down to statues. BIBLE says do not bow down to graven images (statues). Deut 4, Exo 20:4-5. 8. Catholics sprinkles “holy water”. But NT Church of the Bible mentioned nothing about “holy water”. There was no record of any Apostles sprinkling “holy water” on believers. Catholics claimed “holy water” came from OT. Yet Num 5:17 says “holy water” was water used to test adulterous women in OT temple. Hardly the same. Those were for Old Covenant Jews. Not New Testament Christians. 9. Catholics say Peter was pope - bishop of all bishops. Yet BIBLE says Peter was just a leader of the Jerusalem Church. Bible says nothing of the office of bishop of bishops. Gal 2:9, Mat 16:18. 10. Catholics say there is a seat of Peter. Yet BIBLE says nothing about it. Jesus said “not to lord over others”. 11. Catholics has clergy priesthood. Bible says clergy priesthood was done away with in New Testament. There is no clergy priesthood in NT. Heb 7:27, 9:12, 10:10. 12. Catholics preaches Works Salvation (faith + good works + partake R sacraments + submit to R pontiff + be in R Church + devote to Mary = to be saved). Yet Bible says “believe in Jesus to be saved”. Bible says Works Salvation is cursed. Gal 1:8-9. Acts 16:30-31, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10. 13. Catholics says they must do Penance to atone for their sins. Yet Bible says repent, confess and sins will be forgiven. Catholic Bible changes the word “repentance” in NT into “penance”. Original Greek NT does not use or mean the word penance. Penance = work to atone for sins. Repentance = change of heart. 1 John 1:9, Mat 6. 14. Catholics say Mary went straight to heaven without dying. Yet Bible says nothing about it. 15. Catholics say Islam and Christianity have the same GOD. Yet Islam doesn't believe in death and resurrection of Jesus and Trinity.

Jesus founded His One True Church Mt 16 18-19 that became known as Catholic or Universal in 110 which codified your bible in 382. His Church is the fullness of Truth 1 Tim 3:15 & has existed for 2000 yrs, in spite of sinful men, proof of its divine origin No organisation, such as Protestantism can survive without hierarchy & a unifying authoritative interpreter, the fruits being confusion, division & scandal of 000’s of sects, resulting from personal interpretation, which is not of Jesus who willed unity Jn 17 11-21 No Protestant has ever been able to explain why personal interpretation, if guided by the Holy Spirit has resulted in 000’s sects proving that either the Holy Spirit is wrong or more likely, Protestantism! There are none so blind as those with a darkened intellect which the Holy Spirit obviously isn’t enlightening! Consider the damage caused to society by relativism, caused by there being many “truths” of Protestantism which have resulted in contraception, which until 1930, all denominations prohibited until the Anglican broke away in 1930, abortion, IVF, divorce, SSM, LGBGT, transgenderism etc. Protestantism has a lot to answer for!

Born again, definition @ 23 mins. 1. Your eyes are open to spiritual things. 2. You have an active relationship with God. 3. You're filled with the Holy Spirit. It's a transformative experience of a new life in Christ, and you can see the difference. This is what is supposed to happen, and baptism is the outward sign - that your old nature has been buried, your original sin erased, and you have risen again with Christ. Your sins are forgiven, just like your human loving parent forgives, unconditionally, when you pray with contrition. But you know you should ask, or at least repent and try to avoid doing the sins that cause separation. Just like any good family. The forgiveness is not conditional, but you don't want to shame your family. And you do good, not because it's required, but to make your people proud of you and bring your family honor. The works don't save you; they are the outpouring of your love for your neighbor... because God asks it. We are saved by grace, because of God's mercy. Works are merely the result of our love and gratitude. Sometimes it takes a really long time for all of that to sink in, and we live like sinners until we think about how we would feel if our secrets were exposed. Then, we begin to change our lives. But God is patient, and He knows we will eventually come around. Yet still, we ought to remember, the very first word of the Gospel is "Repent." And after we repent, and we ask God/Jesus for forgiveness, then we get baptized, and soon after, filled with the Holy Spirit.

I think Catholic doctrine is so complex, most individual Catholics don’t know what the RCC actually, institutionally affirms - ESPECIALLY given the utter confusion the current Pope, especially, is doing at the Vatican. The Amazonian Synod was a jaw-dropper to anyone who DOES know Catholic (or Biblical) doctrine. That is the current face of Catholicism, so - yes - to younger, or Vatican II Catholics, who didn’t read the affirmations of Trent, by Vatican II, Winger has current RCC theology all wrong. However, if one listens to Taylor Marshall, who is a deep, Catholic theologian, converted from Episcopalianism, nothing Mike is saying about what the RCC institutionally affirms (and has not retracted), is incorrect.

I agree. We must unapologetically confront those who teach false doctrines. As a convert TO Catholicism based on a 17 year quest for Truth, I pray for you. Not only do you set yourself up as a teacher (James 3:1 applies), but you explicitly and deliberately lead people *away* from the Church which was founded by Christ Himself. You have read much, but understood little. Read John 6, and instead of trying to reject and explain away Christ's words as symbolic, read it with fresh eyes in a quest for Truth. Ask yourself, when Jesus said that it is the SAME FLESH which will be given for the life of the world, was He being symbolic in that sentence? And if not in that sentence, how can you parse line-by-line the Lord's Words to accept what you want as literal, but reject everything before and after it as symbolic? How can you do that with intellectual integrity? Answer: You can't. There is no intellectual integrity in the Protestant (or Evangelical) explanation of that passage. Until you understand John 6, you will never understand Christianity nor the Catholic (Universal) Christian Church. Until you understand and accept John 6, you will never be able to be joined with Christ and His Bride. The Truth is that the Catholic Church is more biblically sound than any Evangelical or Protestant church ever was. The Truth is that Catholic Doctrine can be documented all the way back to the 1st Century A.D., whereas Protestant ("Reformed") doctrine was a new invention in the 1500. And with that, Galatians 1 applies.

@Asaph Vapor You know most of Jesus's disples let him when he preached the Bread of Life discourse, because they, like you, refused to believe Jesus's actual words. So Jesus asked the Apostles if they would leave him too, John 6:68ff Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. The Christ, the Son of the living God told, commanded us to take and eat his Body and drink his blood, in the form of bread and wine (not juice ugh!).

@Asaph Vapor weak, unsubstantiated arguments. I am sorry, everything you have cut and pasted is either wrong or out of context.John 6:52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’ 53 So Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; 55 for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. 56 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like that which your ancestors ate, and they died. But the one who eats this bread will live for ever.’ 59 He said these things while he was teaching in the synagogue at Capernaum.

@Asaph Vapor Those who did not believe Jesus, or who were disgusted with him left. Look up the meaning of the Greek word trogon, which is what Jesus used the second time he said "unless you eat (actually trogon, munch, chew) my flesh you shall not have life within you." I know this is a hard saying. And I know that non-Catholics do not like this saying because it feels to them that they are being told that despite their faith they will not have life within them if they do not receive the Eucharist. But Jesus used these words. And he didn't lie. If you are going to be a biblical literalist, then you had better literally believe what Jesus said.

@@jimmys6566 NO! CCC 1821 specifically and categorically states that the joy of heaven is based on the hope of GOOD WORKS, period, end of story. You are trying to minimize and whitewash the impact of this verse and I will not let you get away with it. Furthermore, it doesn't matter if those works are done with the "grace of God" as 1821 sneaks in to make it all sound so pious, for there is no such thing as a "grace-produced-works-salvation" except in the cobwebs of the deluded Catholic mind. Scripture says that the man in the temple "THANKED GOD" for being such a fine fellow. Again, he was "THANKING GOD" for the grace to be such a person. This is EXACTLY what Catholic theology teaches. They are thanking God for the "grace" (i.e., that spiritual kick-in-the-pants received by the sacraments per CCC 1129) to run around doing good deeds that they THINK will open the gates of heaven per 1821. BUT THEY ARE WRONG. You forget that Paul said he labored with the grace of God that was with him (1 Cor 15:10) but yet was adamant that we are not saved by any works of righteousness whatsoever (Titus 3:5). . If that wasn't enough, the catechism also reports that keeping the 10 commandments is necessary for salvation, WHICH IS ALSO UNBIBLICAL! Scripture emphatically declares that if you are seeking to be justified by the law, you are under a curse (Gal 3:10), and thus, all Catholics are LOST whether you like it or not.
@mojo7495
@mojo7495 5 лет назад
@Shameless Papist On the contrary, I know exactly what I'm talking about, and it is comical to me that you feel you have nothing to be ashamed of, oh ye shamless papist. First of all, I never once indicated, nor has any Protestant ever thought that Catholics are looking to be saved by WORKS ONLY, as you accuse. This one fact alone proves it is ***YOU*** who doesn't even understand your opponent's position! So let me give you a little sermon while I have you on the line. One of the many reasons Catholics are not Christians is because they seek to be saved by the law IN CONJUNCTION with their good works. CCC 2068 explicitly says you must keep the 10 commandments to be saved. THAT ALONE is "another gospel" per 2 Cor 11:4. Scripture emphatically declares that if you seek to be justified by the law, you're under a curse if you don't continue to do EVERYTHING written therein (Gal 3:10; James 2:10). Needless to say, no Catholic has ever kept the law perfectly, and so they are all cursed, each and every one of them, period, end of story. They fail to realize that,"Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes" (Romans 10:4). THE END. Which means that adherence to the Mosaic law is no longer in effect. It was indeed "glorious" for its time and purpose (2 Cor 3:9) but that which replaced it; namely, the grace of God shown in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Cor 4:6), is far better, the results of which will be on display for all eternity. Catholics simply cannot deal with the fact that the Mosaic code has passed away. Paul is clear that the believer in Christ is no longer under the Law: “We were held in custody under the Law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the Law became our guardian to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian” (Galatians 3:23-25). “Know that a person is not justified by the works of the law" [i.e. ANY works whatsoever, per Titus 3:5] because by the works of the law no one will be justified” (Galatians 2:16). Now we are blessed to be under "the law of Christ" (Romans 8:1; Galatians 6:2), which essentially means we become a new creation through faith in him by caring for the spiritual and temporal needs of others. But this "new law" is undergirded by our confidence that Christ came to fulfill the Mosaic law in our room and stead (Matt 5:17) something we could not keep perfectly because the flesh is weak (Romans 8:3), as well as he taking the penalty of breaking the law, so we would not have to (Gal 3:13). Catholics, WAKE UP! The Mosaic law was simply UNABLE to justify a sinner, whereas trusting in the finished work of Christ, can! "And by him, all that believe are justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses" (Acts 13:39), instantly refuting CCC 2068. which says the very opposite! It is clearly obvious that die-hard fans of the Pope are seeking to be justified by law keeping and good works, both of which Scripture explicitly condemns in no uncertain terms. Roman Catholic foot-soldiers fruitlessly go about trying to establish their own righteousness (Romans 10:3) by a balancing act of trying to keep the law of Moses on the one hand, and through an array of good deeds on the other, which they ignorantly think will open the gates of heaven (CCC 1821 & 2016). Instead, Scripture declares they will be issued a passport to hell, despite all their "Mother Teresa" type qualities (Matt 7:21-23). Indeed, as Paul said to the Galatians, "Oh foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you?" (Galatians 3) so we say, "Oh foolish Catholics, who as bewitched YOU?" The Galatians were seeking to add just ONE THING to the merits of Christ in order to be saved. Catholicism has added FAR MORE, by demanding baptism (CCC 1257) eucharist (CCC 1129, 1359), papal subordination ("Unam Sanctam" by Boniface VIII) and an unspecified amount of good deeds (CCC 1821 & 2016). All of this is absolutely unbiblical. Repeat: Scripture says that the man in the temple "THANKED GOD" for being such a fine fellow. He was "THANKING GOD" for the grace to be such a fine fellow (Luke 18:14). This is EXACTLY what Catholic theology teaches at its core. They are thanking God for the "grace" (i.e., that spiritual kick-in-the-pants received by the sacraments, per CCC 1129) to run around doing good deeds that they THINK will open the gates of heaven per 1821. BUT THEY ARE WRONG. Paul refutes such a scheme, saying he labored and did many good works with the grace of God that was with him (1 Cor 15:10) but yet was adamant that we are not saved by any works of righteousness whatsoever (Titus 3:5). Hence, Catholicism is counterfeit Christianity and Satan's masterpiece of deception.

@Shameless Papist The fact that there are some in my camp who may only give half the story is irrelevant. The mere fact that you're trying to be justified by works to ANY degree, is categorically unbiblical. Now if you don't like the terminology of CCC 1821, then take it up with the Pope, or else be honest, and quit the RCC. They have left us with MORE than enough evidence to conclude they consider that coin you dropped in the collection plate, as SALVIFIC. Now its obvious that you've zeroed in on the LEAST possible objection to my response in order to do away with all of it. I'm always amused by the fact that if I say too little, I am condemned (e.g., "oh, is that all you got?") or if I say too much, I am likewise condemned (e.g., "I'm pretty sure you have nothing relevant to say because you just don't understand Catholicism"). FYI, I am not intimidated by any of these escape hatches to avoid confrontation. Now I gave you the biblical evidence and it would be up to you to form one coherent sentence against it. Otherwise, all my objections to Catholics trying to be saved by the law, STAND.

I have no doubt that God has used you to lead many to Christ and the gospel. But that being said… you are misrepresenting Catholicism. I have heard your side and I have heard the Catholics side and I have to say; they are closer to the truth than you. As a Protestant you believe in “sola scriptura.” For years I agreed with you. But there came a day when I realized something. Nowhere in scripture is there a list of the scriptures. If scripture ALONE is our divine authority then what authority decided what scriptures were even canon? After that I began to seriously study Catholicism to better answer their questions. I’m now lead to believe that the Catholic Church is the One, Holy, and Apostolic church left to us by Christ Jesus. I believe it is the truth and will begin my RCIA classes in September. I am praying for all of you, my brothers and sisters in Christ, and you as well Mike Winger. To anyone who thinks I am wrong please pray for me, just as I am for you. Catholics changed it to (Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; She shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise Her heel.") 'She' and 'Her' refers to Mary. 22. Catholic Church use Rev 12 to refer to Mary as 'queen of heaven', when Rev 12:6 clearly refers to Israel escaping the Great Tribulation. Mary cannot be alive to escape the Great Tribulation. 23. Catholic Church refers to Mary as 'Queen of heaven', but 'Queen of Mary' in the Bible is a demonic entity Astoreth or Ishtar, the female deity partner of Baal. 5 verses in Jeremiah as proof.24. Catholic church refers to Mary as the Mediatress, Co redemptress, helper of Christ, firstborn of all creation .. Mary cannot be the mediatress. Jesus is the one and only Mediator between God and man. Only Jesus redeems. Only the Holy Spirit is the Helper sent by Jesus. Only Jesus is the firstborn of all creation. 25. Roman Catholicism has “saints” one can pray to in order to gain a particular blessing. For example, Saint Gianna Beretta Molla is the patron saint of fertility. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals. There are multiple patron saints of healing and comfort. Nowhere is even a hint of this taught in Scripture. Just as the Roman pantheon of gods had a god of love, a god of peace, a god of war, a god of strength, a god of wisdom, etc., so the Catholic Church has a saint who is “in charge” over each of these and many other categories. Many Roman cities had a god specific to the city, and the Catholic Church provided “patron saints” for cities as well.26. Mary is called the gate of heaven? Mary has keys to paradise? Here are roman pagan teachers saying their man made goddess is their savior. None of these quotes have been denounced, on the contrary they are cited. "Open to us, O Mary, the gate of Paradise, since you have its keys! " St. Ambrose "God has entrusted the keys and treasures of Heaven to Mary." St. Thomas Aquinas "No one can enter into Heaven except through Mary, as entering through a gate. " St. Bonaventure "Mary is called "The Gate of Heaven" because no one can enter Heaven but through her means." St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori Papal infallibility Immaculate Mary Assumption of Mary Perpetual Virgin Mary as Mother of God, co mediatrix, co redemptrix, new ark of covenant, Pope as vicar, Holy Water, papacy, peter as first pope, papal succession, apostolic succession, indulgences, 7 sacraments, rosary veneration of saints and statues celibacy of priesthood canonization of saints limbo

I haven't yet watched the other two videos on this topic but I will so that I fully understand just where you are coming from. I found it interesting that you intend to show from the scriptures where Catholicism falls short or teaches un-biblical doctrines. My first question to you would have to be, "Where did the bible come from?" How do you know that any of it is truly inspired of God? For example. "How do you know that the gospel of Matthew is inspired, belongs in the canon, and was written by someone named Matthew?" The author never identifies himself nor signs his name to the document. Just some thoughts. I will view the rest of your presentation. God bless

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. Jason Williamson --- Notice Jesus is saying it is a church filled with His people. It is also a church that is influenced by ancient Babylonian paganism. Revelation 17:4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Jeremiah 6:2, "I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman." Daughter of Zion is the true church and women means church. The women in Revelation 12 is the true church. The women in Revelation 17 clearly represents the Catholic church. Jason Williamson ---The Catholic church In their big ceremonies arrays itself in purple and scarlet. Bishops in purple and cardinals in scarlet. Having in her hand a golden cup which is the chalice. Jason Williamson --- Jesus describes in Revelation 17: 9 the location of this church. Revelation 17: 9 Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains (Rome City of 7 Hills) on which the woman (Vatican Church) sits. (Sits = Rules). Jason Williamson --- What other church has these characteristics? The prophet Daniel prophesied the future Catholic church in Daniel 7:25. The Word of God says: Daniel 7:25, "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to CHANGE TIMES and LAWS: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." The word of Rome says: "The Pope has the power to CHANGE TIMES, to ABROGATE LAWS, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ." "The Pope has the authority and often exercised it, to dispense with the command of Christ." -Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcop. Cap. (The Pope can modify divine law.) Ferraris' Ecclesiastical Dictionary. Jason Williamson --- This is blasphemy. Can a mere man change Gods law? One of the definitions of blasphemy is a man claiming to be God, like the Popes do. Some quotes: "The pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not a mere man ( he is as it were God on earth, sole sovereign of the faithful of Christ, chief of kings, having plenitude of power." -Lucius Ferraris, «Prompta Bibliotheca», 1763, Volume VI, 'Papa II', pp.25-29 -Writers on the Canon Law say, "The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in heaven and earth."- Barclay Cap. XXVII, p. 218. Cities Petrus Bertrandus, Pius V. - Cardinal Cusa supports his statement. -These words appeared in the Roman Canon Law: "To believe that our Lord God the Pope has not the power to decree as he is decreed, is to be deemed heretical.-I?i the Gloss "Extravagantes" o.f Pope John XXII Cum inter, Tit. XIV, Cap. IV. Ad Callem Sexti Decretalium, Paris, 1685. Jason Williamson --- And remember Jesus says in Revelation 18:4 to “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.

Did the Roman Catholic church give us our Bible? by Matt Slick 8/11/2017 Roman Catholics often say that it was their church that gave us the Bible. They sometimes claim this when defending their "Sacred Tradition," so that they might support extra-biblical teachings such as purgatory, penance, indulgences, and Mary worship. They often say the only way the Christian church knew what books are to be included in the Canon of Scripture was because it was revealed by word-of-mouth in the early church, that is, by the tradition of the Catholic Church. Furthermore, they imply that their church, not the Protestant churches, has the "authority" to decide what scripture really is. There is a problem here, though. Let me illustrate. If Jesus were to write a sentence on papyus, it would automatically be inspired. Would the Catholic church then approve of it and declare it true, or would it recognize it as true? If the RCC declared it to be true by its authority, then it is setting itself above the words of Christ. On the other hand, if it recognizes Jesus' words as authoriative, then it is doing just that, recognizing what is already authoratitive. The Christian church recognizes God's word as inspired and true. It does not declare it to be inspired and true lest it claim its own authority to decide the truth of God's word. Tradition So, back to the issue of "sacred tradition." The Catholic Church's argument implies that its tradition is superior to Scripture. Of course, we are not saying that the Roman Catholic church teaches that tradition is above Scripture. But when Sacred Tradition is claimed to be the thing by which Scripture is given, then tradition is inadvertently the thing that gives blessing and approval to the Bible. Heb. 7:7 says, "But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater." The unfortunate psychological effect of saying that Roman Catholic tradition is what gave us the Bible is that it elevates their tradition to a level far greater than what is permitted in Scripture. In fact, it is contradicted by scripture: 1 Cor. 4:6, "Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that in us you might learn not to exceed what is written, in order that no one of you might become arrogant in behalf of one against the other." The Bible tells us to obey the Word of God - to not go beyond the written Word (1 Cor. 4:6). Unfortunately, the problem with an elevated status of Roman Catholic church tradition is that it results in various justifications of its non-biblical teachings such as prayer to Mary, purgatory, indulgences, penance, works of righteousness, etc. Because it has deviated from trusting God's Word alone, it has ventured into unscriptural areas. Nevertheless, did the Roman Catholic Church give us the Bible? No, it did not. First of all, the Roman Catholic Church was not really around as an organization in the first couple hundred years of the Christian Church. The Christian church was under persecution, and official church gatherings were very risky in the Roman Empire due to the persecution. Catholicism, as an organization with a central figure located in Rome, did not occur for quite some time in spite of its claim they can trace the papacy back to Peter. Second, the Christian Church recognized what was Scripture. It did not establish it. This is a very important point. The Christian Church recognizes what God has inspired and pronounces that recognition. In other words, it discovers what is already authentic. Jesus said "my sheep hear my voice and they follow me..." (John 10:27). The church hears the voice of Christ; that is, it recognizes what is inspired, and it follows the word. It does not add to it as the Roman Catholic Church has done. Therefore, it is not following the voice of Christ. Third, the Roman Catholic Church did not give us the Old Testament which is the Scripture to which Christ and the apostles appealed. If the Roman Catholic Church wants to state that it gave us the Bible, then how can they rightfully claim to have given us the Old Testament which is part of the Bible? It didn't, so it cannot make that claim. The fact is that the followers of God, the true followers of God, recognize what is and is not inspired. Fourth, when the apostles wrote the New Testament documents, they were inspired by the power of the Holy Spirit. There wasn't any real issue of whether or not they were authentic. Their writings did not need to be deemed worthy of inclusion in the Canon of Scripture by a later group of men in the so-called Roman Catholic Church. To make such a claim is, in effect, to usurp the natural power and authority of God himself that worked through the Apostles. Fifth, the Scripture says, "But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God," (2 Pet. 1:20-21). The Bible tells us that the Scriptures are inspired by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the very nature of the inspired documents is that they carry power and authenticity in themselves. They are not given the power or the authenticity of ecclesiastical declaration. Conclusion The Christian church, as an earthly organization, recognized the Word of God (John 10:27). It didn't give us the Word of God. Also, it was the Jews who gave us the Old Testament. The authenticity of the New Testament documents rests in the inspiration of God through the apostles--not the Catholic Church. Furthermore, the Roman Catholic Church did not give us the Old Testament. The Jews did. How can the Roman Catholic Church claim it gave us the Bible when it did not give us the Old Testament? Finally, when the Catholic Church claims that it is the source of the sacred Scriptures, it is, in effect, placing itself above the word of God by claiming that through its authority we received the word of God.

The OT is God's Word as He guides His rebellious children with laws/promises of deliverance from the power of sin. The Gospels witness to the life/teaching/mission of Jesus the Savior ( God's Word made flesh). The epistles chronicle the infant Church. In Revelation, St. John was instructed to ' write the things which thou hast seen ' in Rev. 1: 19.

Excellent comment! I have semi-jokingly asked folks within the Roman cult where Moses got the Ten Commandments. The true origin of scripture is obvious and the Word of God refutes the false claims of the RCC every time. They lie about being the source of God's Word to try and steal authority from the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to try and place themselves over His disciples. But as you have said and fortunately for us, as the Lord's sheep we hear His voice and follow when He calls us. EDIT: grammar

I studied theology, passed my examinations for the Methodist Church, and knew absolutely nothing of the history of Christianity, or whether there was any, during this period. When I awoke to the fact of my dense ignorance, I felt resentment; and I confess I do to this day. Where was the True Church for fifteen hundred years?" Nor is Dr. Hemmeon alone in his opinion. Says Dr. Washington Gladden, a Congregationalist of Columbus, Ohio: "Among non-Catholics, even men and women of education are woefully ignorant of the Catholic Church." And Dr. Nightengale, a Methodist in his, "Religions Of All Nations," has this to say: "In scarcely a single instance has a case concerning them (Catholics) been fairly stated; The channels of history being grossly corrupted by revisionist historians." Even Renan, writing from Rome in 1849, says: "I came to this country singularly prejudiced against the Catholic Church. I had in my mind set phrases as to this sensual, unwholesome, and subtle worship. To me Rome was the perversion of the religious instinct. I intended to ridicule freely the permanthal ingenuity of the Church of Christ and of the 'superstitions' of this land. Well, my friend, The Madonna has conquered me."

If you want to know what Rome teaches, go to Polycarp. If you want to know what the Bible says, go to the Bible. Polycarp is the Destroyer.

Jun Mescallado if as a seminary student you did not learn Church history, it was your fault. Church history is clearly seen. RC just ignore their own history, claiming the moral high ground, forgetting the killing of those who differ. Claiming they are the victim. They claim to control the Bible as to what it really says, but they change in time. It's going to be interesting to see how they are going to change on Mary.

so this guy abandoned the gospel of Christ for the superstitions and false religion of Rome?

the "Madonna" conquered him. That is what happens I guess when you don't stay close to the gospel and the NT

Patrick There's nothing in Polycarp we have to argue against. His writings and his life does not support the RCC. The word episkopos (bishop or overseer) is in the NT (1 Tim 3) but it's not what the RCC made it out to be

If being saved is based on faith alone and requires no works on our part why does the Our Father say “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”. See the Parable of the Unforgiving Debtor. Matthew 18:21-35 and James 2:14-26. “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.”

You should be happy faith is all you need How many Catholics do works Most Catholics don’t go out o church They don’t go to confession They don’t do the Rosary They don’t follow pre marital sex rules or birth control rules Who follows the pope So you are not a good person You are a sinner on your way to hell Jesus died for your sins and said you must be born again to enter heaven Jesus wants you in heaven when you believe Catholic Church wants you to do unlimited works and maybe you go to purgatory By the way another lie There is no purgatory You have been deceived You are in a cult Leave the church Learn the Bible Pray for understanding Can you say I was blind and now I see I was lost and now I’m found Have you had a spiritual change to understand a spiritual god

The official Roman Catholic Catechism states = 841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims

Protestantism is also an -ism. You can gloss over it by just calling yourself a Christian but you have to deal with the fact that there are thousands of different contradictory Protestant doctrines and sects and these are increasing in number with every passing year. Scripture alone does not lead to Christian unity. There is a clear need for a structure in order for Christians to be one as is Christ's clear prayer for us. I see no Protestant solution for this.

"I see no Protestant solution for this." 1. Even if this was true, a clear structure that includes many incorrect doctrines is not better. So the Protestant can just argue that they disagree with Catholics on almost every issue and your point holds no water. 2. I used to be Catholic and then starting studying scriptures and I couldn't in good conscious remain a Catholic though I recognize that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ so shouldn't let these differences keep us apart. For example, we both believe in the Incarnation, Resurrection, and Trinity. I think these doctrines and a personal relationship with Jesus are sufficient for one to be a Christian.

 @toneyh1 *False claims again. Scriptures of modern day Bibles came 300 years before any Bible Roman religion claimed to have compiled. By ad100s, Scriptures of modern day Bibles were already in all churches.* you said catholicsm says the bible is for everyone but decided by the church in the 4th century.

 @Smart_Joey_ *YOu are wrong once again. Bible does not say that. You omitted some words so as to cover up your R ct m m doctrines* Bible says: we are saved by grace through faith. Not just by grace.* you said we have been saved by God's grace. Catholics believe that.
