This is not just conjecture. We have actual evidence that Joseph Smith was lying to Mormons when he invented his new "scripture" the Book of Abraham. This is proof that Mormonism is not true. The book of Abraham was not translated, it was fabricated. Here is the evidence. Share this video so that more people can be set free from the tangled lies of Joseph Smith. Mormons are the victims of Mormonism and we can show them love by showing them the truth so they can put faith in Jesus for real.

Hi pastor Mike. I've been subscribed to you for awhile, and I just wanna say I appreciate ND thank God for you And this channel. I watch your videos everyday, and they have definitely kept me strong in my walk with Christ. That being said, Both topics sound awesome! The atheist one sounds great, but I'd like to hear what you have to say about faith healers. I'm wondering if ministers like Benny hinn and Richard Roberts will be on the list. I grew up watching those guys, televangelists are always hit and miss with me spiritually, and don't even get me started on prosperity preachers. *Cough*osteen,white*cough* But I also wonder if maybe even Bob Larson would make it on your list. He's more of a deliverer than a faith healers but same ballpark I would say. I've always liked Bob Larson but I feel like he's all show sometimes. Idk this is exactly why I'd like to hear your take on this. Haha Thanks again for this channel. It is not just my Sunday church time, but my everyday church time. God bless you good sir

Richard Holmes that video is nonsense

Richard Holmes, here is how Paul Gregersen's video is nonsense. Paul Gregersen’s PERSONAL interpretation of Joseph Smith’s ‘translating’ of the Book of Abraham is completely subjective and false.. For him to claim that, for over 150 years, no one in the church “accept me” has seen the true deciphering of the Book of Abraham is self-serving at best and arrogant at worst. His bragging that he has DEBUNKED THE DEBUNKING OF THE BOOK OF ABRAHAM is based on contorted logic, his own PERSONAL interpretation that is opposed to what has been published by the church, and on assumed ‘computer codes’ and ‘mathematical formulas’ that he says are necessary to decode an ENCRYPTED (his word) text. But no amount of bragging, contorted logic, replacing the hieroglyphs in the Facsimiles, assumed “computer codes”, or “mathematical formulas” is going to change the fact that Joseph Smith claimed to be translating the Egyptian papyri and failed miserably. And the Mormon church supported that ‘translation” for over 150 years. What kind of “Prophets, Seers, and Revelators” are they, if they didn’t know about Gregersen’s wonderful discovery in all that time?

I ordered the Book of Mormon once and apparently, it came with two missionaries at my apartment door (and they also graciously satisfied my request for BoM, PoGP, and D&C in one book). On the first visit I apparently asked a lot of hard questions for them and on their next visit they brought along their supervisor. The supervisor said I asked too many questions, so he said to email it to him. Which I did, and he never replied back.

The term "antimormon" is a tool that the church uses extremely well. Yes there are mormon haters just because they are haters, and I think they do a deservice to mormons, but most are not necesarelly anti mormon, they are just pointing out facts and truths that the church has tried to hide or spin to the members, so they are probably more anti mormon and anti truth that other non mormons who are just presenting the facts. I did serve a mission also in my country, Guatemala and babtized a truck load of people, because my mission president had been a CEO for a company in Utah and he liked "numbers" so we gave him what he wanted, "numbers" we baptized people left and right, people who didn't even know how to read or write, some didn't even speak spanish well. That's when I started to feel that things were not right.
@robertrosskopf4641
@robertrosskopf4641 2 года назад
@@Mizzlenum Of course, representing "the church" as trying to hide or spin facts is in itself very anti-Mormon. I too served a mission and we baptized people who were illiterate. Most of the people that the apostles baptized were illiterate. One doesn't have to be literate to follow Christ. I'm sorry that God never gave you a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I'm sorry that you never paid the price to receive one. God answered my prayer. I have been studying the Book of Mormon for over 40 years, and I am still learning new things about it. After reading about the day and a night and a day, I searched the internet to see if anything similar ever happened in modern history. It turns out that it did. It is known in scientific circles as the Carrington Event, and happened in 1859, long after the Book of Mormon was published. I then searched for volcanic eruptions of a sufficient magnitude to cause the cataclysm of 3rd Nephi, chapter 11. There was exactly one, and it occurred at the time of Christ. It is known as the eruption of Apoyeque, and it was one of the top 20 eruptions since the earth was formed. Large portions of land actually sunk, creating a large inland sea. I checked to see if any other eruptions had three days of thick darkness. It turns out that the eruption of Krakatoa was followed by three days of darkness in the surrounding islands. Critics complained about the mention of chariots in the Book of Mormon, but chariot is the correct word for Litter in early modern English. At the time "Litter" meant a wheeled vehicle. So the historicity of the Book of Mormon came through every time for me. You just couldn't believe in it.

@@jasminsophie819 There is absolutely no archaeology to support the Book of Mormon. There is no document trail, (zip), to support Mormon History or the Book of Mormon. The Bible has a document trail all the way back to 600 B.C. (Ketef Hinnom Scrolls). Interestingly, 600 B.C. is the approximate date the lost tribe supposedly landed in America. There is absolutely no evidence to support this landing. Any reputable mainstream archaeologist, outside the LDS church, will tell you that mighty civilizations just do not disappear. Most especially temples. Even if temple walls fall, they will lie for multiple thousands of years without crumbling. The archeology of the Holy Land supports the modern Bible down to minute verses. But, we cannot prove Jesus is the Son of God. We must accept Biblical doctrine by faith, even though we can rest assured that Biblical history and narrative have been scientifically proven to be true. However, accepting the BOM is not by "faith"; it is by "blind faith", because BOM narrative and history has the same empirical evidence as "Gulliver's Travels", which actually has a similar plot to the BOM. The BOM has a purpose. It is so boring it is a sure cure for the most hopeless insomniac.

Sunrise A. First, honor your parents. You need to continue following them, go to church do as they want. But, read the Bible. Study to find out if it’s true! If someone tells you what they believe is true, it can withstand doubts. Or deep research. Question the Bible! Question God! Don’t take anyone’s word that something is true! Find out for your self. Gods Truth is Truth! It’s not just a feeling. It’s faith yes! But based on evidence! God wants you to use your mind, critical thinking is required! I’m 56 years old about five years ago was searching things so I could defend the LDS church against the anti Mormon attacks. In my search I found the opposite! Seeking Truth led me to who God in the Bible says he is! And last pray to God! You may not get a warm and fuzzy feeling to confirm something, but with your sincere intent he will help you find your way! Ask him fo wisdom as God says to do! And remember I’m 56 I just barely found Gods truth, it might take time.

I'm very impressed that you were able to convey your thesis and evidence so seamlessly in a live presentation. I can tell you that your presentation of the mormon apologist's position is in-line with what is currently being taught to mormons by mormons in their schools of higher education. It should be noted that the "average" mormon does not learn about the origins of their scriptures beyond "JS translated them." One final note: Wilford Woodruff was not just the President of the Church or a spiritual leader, Woodruff was a mormon prophet with equal power and authority (according to the Church) as Joseph Smith. (To mormons) His contemporary opinion on the matter would have been just as authoritative (if not more so) than Joseph Smith's. Well done.

I really get a kick out of BYU alumni. I’m a alumni of USU. I’m just and old farmer who has spent more than fifty years researching the Mormon church from both sides. On the pro side you have people who seem to have a brighter look at the church than those who spend their time and effort in demonize it. If the church is not you cup of tea then leave. In all my research I have found NOTHING that would make me believe that Joseph Smith was not a true prophet. I have learned that he surely wasn’t perfect and made big time mistakes. Does that disqualify some one from being a prophet. If a person puts down in revelation that they messed up big time and said that God told him he messed up, does that mean he is a fraud? If everything you wrote down in your life was examined and gone over with a fine tooth comb looking for mistakes and flaws, would that discount you from being called a prophet? To many people will judge another person on their mistakes. Remember that with that same judgement ye will also be judged. It’s okay to say the church isn’t for me, but to claim that you know better than those who do believe is folly.

Not that person telling them is a liar. The only reason you would say the church is lying is because you think it gives your more credibility. It really doesn’t. Now you could say I believe in a falsehood. That is what you believe. Do I think that the prophet today is a liar? No. He believes it just as much or more than I do. Go ahead and make a coherent argument for how the Egyptian text (which scholars can easily read -- it's a well known text) has the faintest connection to Smith's short story. And then explain how he got the facsimiles so spectacularly wrong, misidentifying canopic jars as non-historical "gods". And try responding with actual sources not hillbilly wisdom and polygamist anger. You can't blood atone me on the internet.

I'm a professional translator and former LDS. The argument that Joseph Smith comes up with that "as far as the Bible is 'translated' correctly" is a complete crock and it denotes lack of knowledge in what translation is in the first place. Translators are often sworn in like other professions are and back translations are often ordered to prove that the translations have been done correctly, back into the original language. Translators need to be very serious about their craft, especially since oftentimes they are translated into more languages, based on how accurate the first translation into a more prominent language is. It's a very serious profession that demands a lot from the linguist, with extensive research involved to make sure that the translation is being true to its source.

It's not a game of telephone. This is God's Word. SO...kinds of translations 1. Word for word from the Greek originals--direct Greek word for modern day English(substitute other language)one word at a time---and yes--every scholar and translator has access. EVERYONE...nothing hidden. Best preserved library since Alexandria.And God knows they have the money.... 2. Phrase/Thought/Idea Taking the meaning of the Greek text originals--and updating them for the same understanding in our modern day use of English vernacular. 3. A blend of the two. Some word for word and whole phrase understanding translations. Their intentions, as they always have been--is to keep as close to the original Word as possible, while making sure that modern readers will understand the meaning--that it is PRESERVED....which is the point. For example, "God looked pathetically upon the man" old use of "pathetic" meant to have pity today, it could be confused for a slander or criticism of God, to call HIM pathetic. so its updated. Make sense? I think there's this idea that the ONE book was translated so many times that it lost its meaning---but you forget we have the originals to check....your understanding of translation errors leans on that the knowledge was corrupted or lost because of this over time type of translation--- But....its not. Because....WE CAN CHECK... we have the originals....so we know if there was an error in translation....all the way back to the first church fathers. all this information is easily verifiable.

@@bcreel83 It's proof that Joseph Smith was right in saying that the scriptures are true, as long as they are translated correctly. It's a simple statement of fact. It either is true or it isn't. And you have just admitted that it is true. However, your belief that we have autographs from the 1st century is demonstrably false. An autograph is the original, and not one autograph has survived to today. We don't have anything written in Paul's handwriting. In fact, some of the oldest documents that have survived (barely) are the Nag Hammadi, leather bound books found buried outside a church in Egypt. They date to the third and fourth centuries. And when we go back that far, we discover a Christianity that is far closer to the LDS church of today than it is to any other church. The Gospel of Peter tells about Jesus teaching the gospel in the Spirit World, a distinctly LDS doctrine. The Gospel of Phillip tells of the five mysteries of Christianity, which can be found in modern LDS Temples and/or meetinghouses. So all those really weird things that the Mormons do... were also done by ancient Christians. A graveyard in Egypt revealed the bodies of many early Christians, and they were wearing clothing very similar to the LDS priesthood garment. There is obviously a huge gap between the Christians of 200 Ad and Christians of today. It is like they belonged to a completely different church. And the idea that men can become gods? Several of the early Christian church fathers taught it.

I have proudly been Mormon my entire life, until I saw this video yesterday and read this excerpt from History of the Church, vol. 2, pg. 329 “About twelve o’clock a number of young persons called to see the Egyptian records. My scribe exhibited them. One of the young ladies who had been examining them, was asked if they had the appearance of antiquity. She observed, with an air of contempt, that they had not. On hearing this, I was surprised at the ignorance she displayed, and I observed to her, that she was an anomaly in creation, for all the wise and learned that had examined them, without hesitation pronounced them ancient. I further remarked, that it was downright wickedness, ignorance, bigotry and superstition had caused her to make the remark; and that I would put it on record. And I have done so…” I had always thought Joseph Smith’s example to be the most genuine and authentic, one to model after. I have read many, many books and articles all about his life. They were always published by the Church. If it wasn’t an official LDS Publication I didn’t associate myself with it. I loved Joseph Smith, I loved him like I knew him. Like he was a fellow Brother whom I could meet after this life. I made a promise to myself that anything I learned that was not in accordance with what the Church taught about Joseph Smith, I would further study and see how it was in fact false. So, when my wife sent me this video to watch I was prepared for his name to be drug through the mud and called a false prophet. I hoped to still be able to defend his name. I can’t believe it’s really true though. I never thought I could be convinced otherwise. @Mike Winger you said you couldn’t imagine what it’d be like to live as a Mormon and then learn about this. It’s happening to me right now and its just the worst. To learn that this Church I had wanted to give my life to was build on a shoddy foundation by a false prophet. Do you believe Christians who are not lds are destined for outer darkness? Can you show in the bible where that is so we can learn?
@WhatdoesthatReallymean-ps1kn
@Friendly Fire Actually, we Latter Day Saints believe that the only people destined for outer darkness would have to have had a “Saul on the road to Damascus“ 100% sure testimony of Jesus Christ and His Heavenly Father and then deny that testimony and actively fight against God. In other words, it’s an extremely tall order to qualify for outer darkness and my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who follow traditional Christianity will not be there. I can’t speak for all latter-day Saints but I feel toward other believers in Christ who aren’t latter-day Saints the way Jesus does: Mark 9:38-40 “And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. 39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. 40 For he that is not against us is on our part.” It seems for the most part that traditional Christians are not with Jesus in this regard as to their feelings toward us latter-day Saint Christians. It seems like the vast majority of Christians feel that we “Mormons” are headed for eternal hellfire. Do you count yourself among them? Speaking of those headed for hellfire, perhaps you can give me the traditional Christian perspective on the eternal fate of those human beings who “didn’t accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior“ but were ripped apart limb from limb inside their mother’s womb before they were born, and before they had a fully formed brain to understand and “confess with their mouth“ that Jesus is Lord, and, since they were human and are therefore guilty of Adam’s “Original Sin,” they must necessarily being roasting in the flames as we speak, with their only crime having been unlucky enough to have been conceived by a mother who, for whatever reason, decided not to allow them a chance at life. Given your doctrine, is this not what traditional Christians believe with regard to the eternal fate of aborted babies? What say you?
@syn1183
@syn1183 11 месяцев назад
@@WhatdoesthatReallymean-ps1knno babies and kids do not go to hell. We believe basically the same as Mormons do on the age of accountability, not that it's an age but when the person is cognizantly aware enough to know that he has sinned against God. And I also do believe that there will be many Mormons that go to heaven because they do believe that Christ died for their sins and he rose again on the third day without their sins. The problems of theology come in when Mormons say that God the Father and Jesus Christ were once just men and through many good works and ritualistic observances were able to go to the third heaven and ascend to become God and have their own planet. If a Mormon truly believes that then the Mormon God is much different than the biblical God. Because there are no other gods in all of existence besides God the Father and Jesus Christ his son and the holy Spirit, they are three and one

Polygamy is another untaught history, especially the fact JS married other Mens wives. Apologists will of course always put these in the best possible light, resort to hope for future explanations to answer many of these challenges (like where are the Lamanites today). Frequently a person will say to me that the Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) missionaries have challenged them to pray about Joseph Smith's message and the Book of Mormon. But is this the proper way to determine if his message is truly from God? The Bible never says to test a prophet by prayer, but by his message. Deuteronomy 13 warns that a prophet must teach correctly about God. Chapter 18 tells us the prophet's prophecies must come to pass. Paul tells us in Galatians 1:8-9 that even angels can appear with a wrong message. We are to compare the message with the teachings of the apostles. In Acts 17:10-12, when Paul went to Berea to proclaim Jesus as the Messiah to the Jews, we read "these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed..." Note, Paul did not tell them to go home and pray about it. They were praised for searching the scriptures, in other words, testing the message to see if it agreed with the prophecies of the Messiah. Note that John made an appeal to fact, not feeling, when he declared "that which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;...that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us..." (I John 1:1-3) He continued in the next chapter, verse 21, "I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth...let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning...." Chapter 4, verse 1, "beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." Peter wrote specifically to warn about false teachers: (2 Peter 1:15-16) "Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty...." In Chapter 2, verse 1, he continues "but there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,...and many shall follow their pernicious ways..." Then in Chapter 3 he continues "this second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandments of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers..." Notice, he refers them to past teachings and facts, not to feelings or prayer. The Mormons misuse James 1:5. That verse is for wisdom during times of temptation and persecution, not for knowledge or testing a prophet. He goes on to warn in Chapter 4, verse 3, about those who pray (and we assume it was in Jesus name) for the wrong things-"Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss..." This verse shows our own desires or misdirected ideas can play a part in the answer. If someone claimed God said we should rob a bank and give the money to the poor, would we need to pray about it? God has already spoken on the issue in the Ten Commandments. So why should we pray to know if God and Jesus appeared to Joseph Smith to show him that they are two totally separated gods with resurrected bodies? Or that there were gods BEFORE our heavenly father. (See Smith's sermons in the LDS History of the Church, vol. 6, pp. 305-312, 474-476) Compare his sermons with Isa.43:10-11, 44:6-8, 24-25, 45:5-6, 18-24, 46:5-10. Joseph Smith contradicts Isaiah-which one should we believe? Christians test prophets, pastors, and teachers by the Bible. LDS test the Bible by their prophets. They go about testing the message backwards. The Bible was here first, therefore Joseph Smith must be tested by it, not the other way around. Certainly a decision regarding our eternal life is the most important one we will ever make and deserves careful examination. Anyone meeting with the LDS missionaries should know both sides of the issue. There are plenty of facts from LDS sources to show that Joseph Smith taught false doctrine, lied about polygamy (even to his own wife), changed his revelations, gave false prophecies, etc. He hardly meets the test of a prophet. Truth will stand up to investigation.

Mark Peterman: Thanks for this. Another point. We don't have to pray for an answer to a question, when we ALREADY have the answer. As we know the Book of Mormon is false, why pray about it? Pray to give thanks, and pray when we actually need an answer. Common sense should tell someone you don't just dig up a scripture from a lost civilization in your back yard.

When I was a young adult(17-20 years old) I went to the Mormon church with my wife's family. It was different but what was very strange and what stuck with me was they seperated the men from women at the end of the main service. Then once I was apart from my wife they had asked if you were a newcomer to the church to introduce yourself to the congregation. When it was my turn I stood up and told everyone my name and the man at the podium stopped and asked me who I came to see. As sincerely as I could I replied Jesus. At that moment every man in the church (including my father-in-law) laughed at me as if to hint that Jesus wasn't there. I'll never forget the unwelcomedness that I felt in that moment. I'll also like to add that during the main service that was held not one time did they read from the HOLY Bible, instead it was mainly people's testimony on how they found either Jesus or how there faith in Mormonism pulled them through. Not that that's bad but it just seemed like everyone missed out on the literal word of God. Also it just seemed ungodly to seperate people's family during a time to fellowship with believers. I've been to the Mormon church a handful of times but the more I went the more I realized that the majority of the "elders" pretty much worship the works of the false profit Joseph smith and really don't consider the works of Jesus the Messiah (in whom they clame as there messiah). All that being said I would like to proclaim that the Mormon church is led by the unholy spirit of a false profit whom was filled with untrue concepts ideas and principalities. If you or a loved one is Mormon for the love of Jesus bring those people to a REAL church and show them what it means to feel the love and joy of the true Holy Spirit.

Mormonism has hurt so many people. LDS teachings state that one can become a god of their own planet if they are perfect and do 100% good works on Earth (for LDS leaders, Matthew 5:48 is central to this idea). This not only distorts the grace Christ has given to mankind, but also puts adherents of Mormonism in a never-ending endeavor towards the perfection only God has. What this ultimately boils down to is that instead of spending all their time being thankful to Jesus for paying the price for our sins, Mormons instead spend it preoccupying themselves over whether they've been "good enough" or done enough "good works" to get into heaven. Pray for Mormons. They are very lost and need Jesus.

I thank you for your passion in trying to teach and spread what you believe as truth. I do have a couple observations that I would like to share. I noticed that the extent of your research mainly covers the obviously disputable opinions of the controversy. Like you said... Even the Mormon church acknowledges its errors and controversy. BUT.. I did not hear you mention any of the other things that have shown to be more accurate then initially thought among Egyptologists. You stated that if Joseph Smith was able get the translation correct then you may even be Mormon. What if he had dozens of things that are accurate, that he had no way of knowing, and Egyptology is making those connections... would that be something to think about? One small example is that Joseph correctly translated the God Elkenah. Joseph had no way of knowing this, yet modern day scholars have confirmed it to be a god worshiped during Abraham's time. Here is an article written that points out many things that Joseph Smith could not have known, but have shown to be related and accurate regarding to the discoveries about Abraham within the last decade. This even includes a Facsimile discovered that is similar to Joseph's Facsimile tying Abraham to that ceremony. www.jefflindsay.com/LDSFAQ/boa.shtml . Also, I encourage anyone to read the entire response of the LDS Church on their website as Mike really only highlighted the things that helped prove his case. Regarding Joseph's own deciphering of the Egyptian language; it was not his prophetic objective to decipher the Egyptian alphabet. That was him showing just how uneducated he was, in his own curiosity as a young man. Imagine if you actually had divine inspiration in this matter. I myself would probably try, and horribly fail, to decipher the language based upon what I was given from god. This does not prove that he was lying about what he was inspired to translate. It was documented and know that he spent much of his time trying to decipher the language academically... but it was never testified that this is how he translated the Book of Abraham. I want to touch on what I believe is a main problem to this. I believe that Mormon culture puts too much emphasis on how great Joseph Smith was; some may even call it perfection. I think Joseph Smith was far from perfect and that he did and said things that where not reflective of his role as prophet. In many controversial topics, we tend to find a fib or falsehood and use it as evidence that all of it is corrupt or false (similar to a defense attorney at law). We use the same process to convince ourselves of what we believe as truth. It is a never ending struggle to look at all facts, opinions, and evidence in any controversial subject. It is human nature to chose a belief, and then ignore any controversy of that topic. I could continue, but realize that I have written enough. I want to emphasis that to almost every belief that someone has... someone else has "evidence" as to why it is wrong. I just wanted to share my thoughts and hopefully some of you will read the linked article, and the entire response from the church on its website. There is more this is argument then what is covered in this video. I cannot fault the LDS church for falling back to Faith as a principle of its belief; for that is the foundation that Christ built his church upon.

The LDS will say "How does one account for the millions of people who have felt the power of the Holy Ghost testifying to them the truth of the Book of Mormon and the restored gospel? Can such a wide variety of people, over centuries and around the world, be deceiving themselves in such a consistent way? If it’s wishful thinking, when else has wishful thinking led to lives of compassionate charity and devotion fueled by sacrifice and self-denial?" But this argument could justify ANY religion. How does one account for the millions of people across the centuries who felt the spirit of God move them to embrace Catholicism, or Protestantism, or Islam, or Hinduism, or Buddhism? Don’t these faiths also possess people with lives of “compassionate charity and devotion fueled by sacrifice and self-denial”? If this argument proves Mormonism is true, then it also proves every other major religion is true, and therefore it becomes useless as a defense of Mormonism. This also applies to the LDS other argument: “If the Book of Mormon isn’t true, and someone prays about it, wouldn’t God clearly answer, ‘No! Get away from those lies and back to the Bible! Why wouldn’t God answer a prayer like that?” So, according to this thinking, since God doesn’t often correct people who accept the Book of Mormon, that means the book of Mormon is true. Okay, but God doesn’t routinely correct people who dismiss the book of Mormon, nor does he usually tell people who read the Qur’an or the Catechism of the Catholic Church “get away from those lies!” Does that mean that Islam and Catholicism are true? I agree that God can speak to someone’s heart to help him see the truth of the gospel message, but God also left us with EVIDENCE to help us determine when he actually has revealed himself. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 says we should “test everything and retain what is good”, not that we should pray only about important matters of faith. When Mormonism is tested for historical accuracy and sound theology, it falls short in both areas.

I realize many Mormons as soon as they hear some of the negative will turn you off but it would behoove them to listen to the complete Video because it can really change their life in this life and for certain their life after they die and go out into Eternity. But as we can see you are reaching some Mormons that can see how false their teaching has been and are so willing to learn what is the truth. We are able to see that by way of many of the responses you have received from many of the Mormon people on this Video. What saddens me that many Mormons on their own realize that they have been snookered so badly and that the Mormon church is only interested in their money along with all the other fake evangelist on Primetime TV. They then leave the church and become Atheist, this is so sad because they get out of a false teaching and they jump right back into another fake teaching, when they could just read Gods Word the Bible and with an open and contrite heart, they can go to God Himself and get the real truth and then be safe for all Eternity. Remember: When you’re hesitant because of the thought of difficulty or pain or loss of connections that is the threat of leaving the church and why they make it so incredibly hard...they use your family as a hostage. So, take your time. Don’t be impulsive or make decisions based on feelings or your current emotions. @lukesteele4510
@lukesteele4510 6 лет назад
+tex959 Sure When someone Like Mike refutes something like the book of Abraham which claims to be scripture from God, he diminishes his potential evidence for God, and if he succeeds in disproving it his case for God becomes weaker so as a result you might be happy to have him weaken his own case. Where as if the claim that the book of Abraham is from God is true it would be evidence strengthening evidence for God. So I imagine that as an atheist it amuses you that Mike by trying to discredit potentially additional scripture actually hurts evidence for his own beliefs. Am I right in assuming that? Of course would you say that if Mike is wrong and the book of Abraham is from god then the case that there is a living God is stronger for it? Just to be up front after listening to this video I don't think he effectively made his case against the Book of Abraham especially since I have also heard the evidence from the other side and it seems more reasonable than he portrays it. The RU-vid channel Mormon Challenges discusses this topic in depth from the perspective of actual Egyptologists and they are not making the arguments he claims in support of the Book of Abraham. From my perspective there is no such thing as proof of anything for or against God only sufficient evidence to rationally choose to believe but not enough evidence to compel belief leaving us with deciding to believe or not.

I remember a live feed I'd watched a while back: when that person's cat showed up (just sat on the couch next to the lady and didn't climb around), she got an angry look on her face, literally hit the cat first, and then pushed it down with a good amount of force. She kept a scowl on her face for some time afterwards, still mad at the cat, I suppose. The hitting and hard push were completely uncalled for, in my opinion, and that made me see her differently. I love this video. I grew up in the Mormon church and as a child and teenager I asked so many questions about things like this - craving more concrete information than we were given. I got a lot of, "If we were supposed to know that, God would tell us. Take it on faith." You're spot on about how Mormons discern truth, based on what they feel to be right, but it's not even that. We were taught to believe whatever church leaders came out with and that we had a right to know that truth too, through the holy spirit. But if the answer we got was different than what the leaders told us, we were supposed to "pray" until we got an answer that matched what the leaders told us. In this way we learned not to trust ourselves. Perhaps the worst part, and the reason I believe Mormonism exists today, is how a faithful Mormon cannot do any research into the validity of the church. In fact, one of the questions you must answer to be worthy of entering the temple is if you read anti-mormon literature or have associations with people who are against the church. So most Mormons will not look at or listen to anything that sounds critical or questioning of the church. And missionaries are taught that if they meet someone who is not swayed by their teachings and provides an argument that challenges their faith, to leave for their own salvation and pray that that person's "heart may be softened." There is a whole lot of interweaving in the Mormon church, which is why it is so challenging to leave. They teach you in a way that you literally hold yourself in your own prison of ignorance and interpret your cognitive dissonance as spirituality once you dismantle your own mind.

You did not do your homework. Do you have access to the internet? Joseph Smith, the founding prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, claimed that as a 14-year-old boy he had a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ. The official account of this first vision found in Mormon Scripture (Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith - History, 1:14-20) was not recorded by Joseph Smith until 1838, 18 years after the supposed event. However, for years before this, Joseph, and his close associates did talk about his early visionary experiences. These earlier accounts contain significant variations from the official First Vision account. The links below present these accounts in chronological order. 1827 - Account of Joseph Smith, Sr., and Joseph Smith, Jr., given to Willard Chase, as related in his 1833 affidavit. 1827 - Account by Martin Harris given to Rev. John Clark, as published in his book Gleanings by the Way, printed in 1842, pp. 222-229. 1830 - Interview of Joseph Smith by Peter Bauder, recounted by Bauder in his book The Kingdom and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, printed in 1834, pp. 36-38. 1832 - Earliest known attempt at an ‘official’ recounting of the ‘First Vision, from History, 1832, Joseph Smith Letterbook 1, pp.2,3, in the handwriting of Joseph Smith. 1834-35 - Oliver Cowdery, with Joseph Smith’s help, published the first history of Mormonism in the LDS periodical Messenger and Advocate, Kirtland, Ohio, Dec. 1834, vol.1, no.3 1835 - Account given by Joseph Smith to Joshua the Jewish minister, Joseph Smith Diary, Nov. 9, 1835. 1835 - Account given by Joseph Smith to Erastus Holmes on November 14, 1835, originally published in the Deseret News of Saturday May 29, 1852. 1838 - This account became the official version, now part of Mormon Scripture in the Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith - History, 1:7-20. Though written in 1838, it was not published until 1842 in Times and Season, March 15, 1842, vol. 3, no. 10, pp. 727-728, 748-749, 753. 1844 - Account in An Original History of the Religious Denominations at Present Existing in the United States, edited by Daniel Rupp. Joseph Smith wrote the chapter on Mormonism. 1859 - Interview with Martin Harris, Tiffany’s Monthly, 1859, New York: Published by Joel Tiffany, vol. v.-12, pp. 163-170. _______________ The evidence available from early sources, including Joseph Smith and his family establish a number of important facts. First, Joseph did not relate his story consistently, but changed key elements over the years. He changed: The date / his age - from 1823 (age 16), to 1821 (age 15), to 1820 (age 14) The reason or motive for seeking divine help - from no motive (a spirit appears with the news of gold plates), Bible reading and conviction of sins, a revival, a desire to know if God exists. Who appears to him - a spirit, an angel, two angels, Jesus, many angels, the Father and the Son. Second, common elements from early accounts raise questions about what appears to be a gradual evolution of Joseph Smith’s first vision story. Did Joseph begin to include a “Christian experience” in the telling of his story because Bauder noticed it was lacking? The earliest accounts given to Chase and Harris do not include this. There is a noticeable shift in the context of finding the gold plates, from 17 year-old money-digger to 14 year-old spiritual seeker. Is this an attempt to put his story into a more socially acceptable context? It is difficult to avoid the conclusion that as time went on, Joseph omitted uncomfortable but true parts of his history and replaced them with fictitious elements in order to make his story more socially acceptable and spiritually compelling. One thing is clear, the LDS Church does a great disservice to investigators of its claims by presenting Joseph Smith’s 1838 account of his first vision as the only version of these events. It appears deliberately misleading to offer this account (now canonized as part of LDS Scripture) as an unquestioningly accurate and honest portrayal of its historical origins. mit.irr.org/changing-first-vision-accounts-conclusion

Yeah I think all of Christianity is fake. The line of power in Catholicism has been broken so many times that there’s no way they have any kind of power. Since every other Christian group is just a splinter off of Catholics, there is no true church. So Mormonism is plausible.

@@xFoundx I used to think there had to be some line of authority when I was a mormon but that's also a deception. Catholic church is false doctrine as well with the mediator being Mary. Instead think of it as Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father which means Jesus Christ's authority straight to you, no need for anyone else or authority passed from person to person. It's Jesus Christ and you personally.

There is only one true religion, and you must pray a lot and be open in order to find it. Is that truth simple enough?

32:20 wait so we are supposed to adhere to not listening to the prophet but not supposed to kill him? Are they not linked? If we’re required to do one then it would follow that we’re required to follow the other as well if we’re consistent.

Apparently, the algorithm controlling what commercials play for this video are not adept at recognizing the difference between a video in support of Mormonism and a video not in support.
