Why is it the governments job to build housing I thought it was the private sector that does? Best thing government can do to help build housing is to get rid of needless rules and regulations that hinder building and get interest rates and inflation under control.

I never understood parliamentary procedures, and arguing, when wouldn't it be much better to have them make concrete suggestions to make things better. If everyone sees there's a housing shortage, maybe discuss options that can help, rather than piss on each other's shoes.

Does this really need to be discussed for years on end? Stop immigration, start a national housing program like in the 50s and 60s, subsidize building materials, cut red tape, ban corporate ownership, ban airbnb, ban the ownership of more than 2 properties, stop building single family homes, impose a minimum wage that is livable and impose national rent control. Problem effing solved. Was that so hard? The problem is not that we cant come up with the solutions. The problem is the elite arent willing to sacrifice their wealth for the good of the vast majority. The 1% thrive and the 99% barely scrape by. Impossible to own a house period. Impossible to rent unless you make above average income or work 80 hours. Enough with the class warfare. Its time for a revolution
Toronto has always been unaffordable. The market is whatever people are willing to pay. If everyone just stopped buying homes and refused the ridiculous prices; then like everything else in economics, the market would have to readjust itself. Sadly, that'll never happen since there's always idiots with $$$ willing to be ripped off and overpay, thus perpetuating the problem we are currently facing.
And yet neither of them will do a damn thing about the problem. This isn't a Liberal vs Conservative problem. This is a problem of Landlords jacking up rental prices without cause and corporations buying up all the affordable houses on the market. Yes immigration is part of the problem because we take in far too many that we don't have the resources for and then we put more effort into helping them then people who were born here and have been paying taxes all their lives. I go around my neighbourhood and see people like me sleeping in tents on the street while people from other countries live in my building with help from the government. Its great to help when you can but a leaders first obligation is to the people of their own country, not everywhere else in the world.
If someone is living in ur building they are probably bringing money from their savings and pouring it into the Canadian economy... the story is not that simple.

The program was created to employ, train and pay good wages to immigrants . Understandably construction companies owners need more and more of them as contracts with government for new housing are rolling in. However, it's hard to imagine a woman or a doctor , accountant etc on your roof...does it mean it's encouraged to get young, non professional males to come, as we see around the world?

Experienced trades people are starting to retire. Their kind of work cannot be done well into someone's 70's like a cushy job like he has. What price tag will be on all these new homes that he imagines. You need a hefty pay cheque these days to afford any house anywhere in what was once a very fine country.

The BC drug crisis too is ongoing in courts so is Poilievre going to go on about the judge that makes the actual decisions instead of Trudeau?

We ended up here because of a Prime Minister who can't take the taxes down , but put up more taxes instead. We only need a 1% tax on construction of new homes , on land that isn't farm land , or land we need to have a proper environmental impact. Why 30% seems normal to you JT but to the rest of us that's too much. Somewhere in your head you must assume canadians eat 3 times a day , have a roof and are not struggling.
