Im driving a gmc c6500 with a 4-53t Detroit and 5 speed with a 2 speed rear end from Connecticut to oregon im estimating $600-800 in fuel but i need to memorize pre tripping everything before i leave

thats a LIE. this video does absolutely nothing for the new cdl 2020 standard. i knew everything from this along with many other sources like the back of my hand. didnt miss anything. they failed me

I also forgot to mention before fully getting into truck your supposed to check the box of the truck to see if there is a load or it's empty to ensure you are aware of how the control of vehicle will have power or is under powered and when the load is even or un evenly loaded the vehicle can go straight or pull to one side or another because the the load being being offset
took my test last week and passed with flying colors!!!! examiner told me "very good pre trip, you really know this truck" i watched this video at least 25 times maybe more... lol but this video helped me so much
This video helped me pass my test yesterday, very in depth video I did the pre trip a bit different, I did the air real test after everything . I also had a lowboy trailer cause it was for classA. I recommend this to anyone . What a great video thanks again.
Passed my test in Massillon cdl training ...The tester Dave was amazing ..He said I could teach people to do the test ...I told him I watched this video over a 1000 times..He was impressed!!! Thank you for the video it does wonders ..

Jeromey, I flamed out the first time with my pre-trip. The book does not explain how to do it it like you did. Test re-take (with the same tester) was a success due to watching your video many times.
I watched this video again and again and passed my pre-trip inspection rather easily. To quote the words of my examiner "whatever video you have been watching was perfect because you were spot on with everything."
After watching this for hours over the last couple weeks, I passed my Test with flying colors!!! Don’t forget the bumper, fittings, caps on fluids, and other miscellaneous parts! Thanks for the great video. I used it as my study guide before taking my test in Gnadenhutten today. Unfortunately I timed out on the pre-trip inspection and failed the test. The inspector said that she could tell I studied a lot and just needed to work more quickly. Your video is great and I feel like I can pass it next try. Thanks for putting it on here, very helpful!
I passed the second time I attempted. I went to North Coast CDL for the test. It was a great experience. The examiner communicated really well and was great to work with.

@@1Brooklyn2Many front and back I did one side however I made it a point to tell instructor I will inspect this side same as other besides any different parts would you like me to repeat the process on this side ? exhaust was on passenger side so I pointed that out he was very nice and told me I didn't have to worry about passenger side .
@@1Brooklyn2Many advice for road trip pay attention to passing signs they will randomly ask about them. just call out every single part you know even if you don't think you have to and keep it moving name everything its better to point out something you don't need to then forget. stuff remember to check both horns lol I forgot that all together
Why did you say a loose lug nut could cause a leak on the rear rims but not the front? I assume that was a mistake? Maybe that does apply to the axle seal though?

I followed Dave instructions to the letter about 6 times studying the his video, an I'm glad to say that ( Friday Sept. 25, 2020 in Chester, Va. I passed my CDL CLASS B Pre-Trip Trip with no problem! Dave was easy to follow on the video and a great help in getting my CDL CLASS B LICENSE! I have a queston: I"m going to take my cdl class a test on the 21st, how much different is the brake test as to just the class B? Also, I do have to release each brake individually correct? I am an ohio resident
Sorry I am late getting back to you. Best thing to do is review the CDL manual for the differences. It is very similar. Mainly the numbers are different and yes, you pull against each brake.
It is definitely a good idea to take the keys anytime you leave a vehicle. Every testing center is different, but in Ohio I do not think there is a place on their checklist to deduct points for not taking them.
Everything is pretty good however after the CDL brake test after doing everything you have to do you have to build the pressure back up and from 85-100psi should not be anymore than 45 seconds and then continue building pressure until you get to 120-140psi. Big thing you cannot forget
i got a driving test and a general knowledge test for these type of trucks tomorrow for a potential new job. Its been a few years since i worked around these trucks, so this video was very helpful!

20:27 Did anyone else catch that he said about no shiny threads or rust trails which could indicate they could have a leak? Shouldn't that be caused by a loose lug nut and not a leak?
Should we have wheel chocks out when doing the air let down test to show the audible and visual warnings? The reason why I ask is you obviously could not have wheel chocks out to do the service brake test and that comes before the air let down test. Thanks!
Great video! Studying for my class A in Ohio in a few weeks. Will be taking with dump truck with air and trailer with electric brakes. Will I need to tug against the trailer brakes? The reason I ask is because my in cab brake controller is acting up and does not work 100% of the time. Also, do you actually have to check the air in each tire and actually pull on slack adjusters? I’m confused on what you actually have to do vs just explain what you would do.
Imagine everything is fine, you're not really inspection anything to make sure it's safe. It's just to make sure you know what you are inspecting and why you're inspecting it. I failed my pretrip the first time and I have 14 items that I found wrong with their rental truck, one was no oil on engine oil dip stick and they said it's been used all day, it's fine. lol Good luck sir!
Corey, i am not familiar with testing with electric brakes.............you only need to mention that you would check the air pressure with a pressure gauge, not actually perform it, different states could have different requirements
@@piehljeromy passed my class A first try a few weeks ago with flying colors and I think it’s about 98% because of this video! So helpful. FYI - you don’t tug on the trailer brakes with electric brakes, if you take the test with a truck with air and trailer with electric the brake portion of the test is just as it would be for your class B. Just have to pre trip the trailer along with the truck. Thanks again!

Whatever you do, be aware of certain rules that are enforced for the state you're testing in. I was trained by someone that took theirs in a different state and it cost me the 1st time around.
I watched this video probably 8 times last year and it helped me pass my test so thank you! However I asked the inspector to close my hood latch like you suggested and he said ummm no you can latch it lol. I'm refreshing to re take it to get my manual transmission restriction removed.....hopefully

Unless I missed it, some people may say you left out.. -less than 2" steering wheel play, - psi build from 85 to 100 takes less than 45 seconds. - less than 2 psi loss after initial drop in a minute with engine off when you released spring brake. -having wheels chalked during brake test. Can these details very from state to state?

I have a few questions. When checking the front and rear suspension, in the video you did just the driver side, do we have to do say all that again on the passenger side for the other two wheels as well? Also does your truck your testing with need to actually have all reflectors in good shape along with the right type and correct amount of fuses?
you only have to check the driver side and anything that is different on the passenger side.............so on the suspension we only check the driver side because the passenger side is the sameif your truck takes fuses, yes they need to be in there, it is a federal law........same with the reflectors......you may not fail your pre-trip but they need to be in there to be legal
Studied this for about a week and a half, just watching once or twice a day and passed with flying colors in Ohio this weekend. I only missed one thing on the entire exam, and it’s something that I forgot, not that was missing from the video. Great content, much more helpful than the CDL book.
Ohio Cdl book isn't helpful at all on how to physically do the exam which is kinda bs on Ohio part imo. Sets people up for failure. This video is a life saver for many!
